Timothy Donavan Russell: “Storment Drome,” “Steps,” “Pursuant”

Happy new local music Friday everyone! It’s just been a lot of pinball lately, not a whole lot going on here in terms of new local music. Let’s get back to it! Recently, local sound artist Timothy Donavan Russell dropped three new releases in the forms of albums and songs up online. We have ALL three embedded on players below!

Storment Drome is on the bottom and is two tracks over 7 minutes long. These are “raw drone synth noise field recording weird.” Steps is in the middle, includes five new tracks. Then at the top Pursuant is one track over 8 minutes – “Studio jam on microKORG and Electro-Faustus Drone Thing Mostly in 18/4 time….”

Check all of that out on the player below, or head on over to the Timothy Donavan Russell bandcamp page for more music!

Free Downtown Parking Extended Until End of September (For Now)

Here is just another post to let you all know once again that parking downtown is free, and our wonderful Mayor has once again extended that free parking until the end of this month. We have decided to utilize some of this good free parking ourselves and plopped our elephant in front of our store (you aren’t actually supposed to take up spots for more than two hours though).

Parking has been free since we’ve been in a global pandemic. The mayor also came in and played pinball yesterday and set a score of 12,228,250 in our tournament.

This is a post to let you know that we now have the brand new issue of Activator Magazine in stock at Dumb Records (for free). Nice. This issue features multi-instrumental recording musicianical, Mark Schwartz on the cover. A man who has came out with at least 6 or 7 albums during quarantine alone.

As usual, there are more album reviews and write-ups, a 217 scene report, poems… no upcoming show calendar this time (which is very understandable). Other interviews for this issue include… interviews with Flipside, Dan Vapid, the new Decatur group “The Rolling Sixes USA,” The Run Around, Ciraxis, Tello, Jeff Curtis Williams (DIM Art House), Morgan Fleck (Buzz Bomb Brewery), and Diana Thronley. All of this and much, much, more!!!

You can pick up a free copy of Activator Magazine at Dumb Records now, or various other locations around town. Be sure to help support this wonderful magazine by checking out their online Patreon page!!!

Also purchase the download or find more music on Mark’s bandcamp page.

Of course we are listing this one on our Springfield album archive page as well, bringing us to 36 local releases we have kept track of so far this year.

Updated June Store Hours (Starting Today)

IMG_4140

Happy Monday everyone. There is a lot happening in the world right now. Our physical store has been closed for two and a half months, and today we are opening it back up with some restrictions. (Please don’t everyone come here all at once). Starting today, we plan on operating for all of June on limited hours of noon – 6:00 pm at our location here downtown at 418 E. Monroe St. Along with re-opening for June, we are limiting the amount of people allowed in our space at once to five. Face masks are strongly recommended. Heck, we’ll go as far as saying face masks are required. There will be a bottle of hand sanitizer right at the door, and we ask that you use if you are going to be touching anything.

We are also still offering free local delivery on records or t-shirts purchased from us in advance through online. You can still find our discogs page active right here, and our storenvy site online right here.

And once again for anyone asking about shows, we definitely aren’t there yet. We can not project at what point we will be able to have live music again, and we are not scheduling any events at any point in the future still. If things go as planned and our state moves on to “phase 4” later this summer or in July, we have some other exciting projects to debut before we get to the point of being able to host live music again.

Amazing. We dropped some hot, fresh, and new new shirts on our online storenvy store. They are baseball tees (pictured above) printed on supersoft Bella Canvas brand shirts by MilesTShirts. We can’t believe how many we sold in the first… it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet, and we are already out of stock in some sizes. Looks like we are going to have to be getting more printed! And wow we are pretty low on the pink and yellow tees that we released last week!

These run for $16 online – if you live in Springfield select the “local shipping” option on our store and we will deliver them to you at no cost! Check out everything we have in stock at our online storenvy store right here!
