Guess what!? Today’s a release day for a brand new local album that is being put out on WAX! *(You know we love it when that happens). That’s the second full length album from Springfield / America local band Local Drags! The new album is called Keep Me Glued and you can stream it on the player below! This one is being released by Stardumb Records, and we have plenty of copies in the store – both on “chemical lake blue” and “black” vinyl! Local Drags released their first album Shit’s Lookin’up a couple of years ago. (We also have vinyl of that one in store)! They’ve also released some EPs and Tom Petty covers.
Wow, good morning! Now that we have gotten all of our Best of Springfield Music 2020 series out of the way, it’s time to jump back into some new local music that has been coming out this year in the 2021! Today we are bringing you a brand new album from a new local project that we just found out about! The group is called “Lovelorn” and features Keegan Cross, Richard Stone, and John Peters (members of No Good Deed and other projects). You can check out their debut album, May You Find Worth In The Waking World below. Also head on over to the band’s bandcamp page where you can purchase the download of the album. It looks as if this band formed during the pandemic, so they likely have not played live yet!
Local Drags are BACK – the Springfield pop punk project of Lanny Durbin (also of Starter Jackets) has blessed us this weekend with a brand new hit single off of a new upcoming album. The song is called “Think Straight” and you can listen to it on the youtube player embedded below. The song comes from an upcoming album called Keep Me Glued, which you can see the official album art for above. You can find pre-orders for the new album through Stardumb Records online right here! We will also be sure to look into getting stocked up with copies for Dumb Records as well. The album is being released on Friday, March 12th. It is being pressed on vinyl – both the standard black AND “chemical blue lake” colored vinyl!
This will be Local Drags’s sophomore album, after releasing Shit’s Lookin’ Up in 2019.

Happy Tuesday, we are a record store! And like any other week, we are continuing to plop out new and used LPs, 7″s, 12″ singles, cassettes, and CDs out onto the shelves. We have a number of new turntable in too for any of you looking into getting into vinyl as we approach this long cold winter. Our store is open every day from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Check us out sometime. And of course, this Saturday is going to be a big one with the third Record Store “Drop Date” happening. On that day we will be opening one hour earlier at 10:00 am. It’s been a long time since we’ve made any “today” or “tonight” at Dumb Records posts. Last month, the first Record Store Day “drop date” was a success and we were able to stick to our own guidelines of masks and limiting the number of people in the store, so we are ready for another one of these today. Today is the second of the three drop dates, which are happening at the end of August, September, and October. For these days we are getting in a number of exclusive Record Store Day releases. We listed out some of them on this post, and you can find some pictured above. Once again we have a more limited amount of these exclusives compared to normal Record Store Days we have participated in in the past.
In addition to those exclusive releases, we plan on putting out some more new and used records onto the shelves for today.
Our store is open today a little bit earlier than normal – we open at 10:00 am and are open until 7:00 pm. Masks are required and we are limiting the number of people in the store to 10.
