Record Store Day at Dumb Records Saturday, April 13th

RSDWEB_final.jpg

We can’t get over with how crazy busy we are going to be with our new store now that we are downtown this spring and summer – and we haven’t even started with shows yet! We just got done with a grand opening and a big parade, and now in less than a month we are looking at the biggest day of the year for our store – Record Store Day! Taking place this year on Saturday, April 13th. You are going to mark your calendars for this one. We’ll admit that we went overboard and put in the biggest Record Store Day order we have ever done. There are nearly 400 exclusive titles being released just for this day, and we probably ordered two thirds of those titles (some multiple copies of). Check out the long list of exclusive releases on the Record Store Day site right here. Here is Pitchfork’s inside scoop on some notable releases this year. We’ll be posting our list of what we are expecting to get at some point soon. As usual, we can not do holds on exclusive releases for anybody.

We are opening our doors right at 8:00 am for this big big day. Feel free to stand outside in line. We’ll also have coffee available from Foamed Up (usually located at the mall), and probably donuts of some sort. We’ll be open late that night – also are planning on a show happening in our new space at 7:00 pm (which we can not tell you about because we are still waiting on the city’s approval! #$&%@!). Check out a facebook event for all of this right here.

This day is also about supporting your local record store! We are excited to be downtown during Record Store Day this year because it will be more of an event between all three of the stores here downtown! Check out Recycled Records (also participating, opening up at 8:00am, and The Elf Shelf (open 10am-3pm).

November 23rd: Black Friday Record Store Day at Dumb Records

BFflier_webfinal.jpg

Hey! Did you know that one week from tomorrow is one of the biggest days of the year for us at Southtown Record Store Dumb Records? That’s because it is Black Friday Record Store Day, which happens every year (similar to Record Store Day in April). This year that is taking place the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 23rd. The store has a good number of exclusive releases coming in as usual, but will also be doing the biggest sale we have ever held – 50% off the entire store (new and used). Wow! In addition to all of that there will be a show in the store at 7:00 pm, which is free!

Let’s take a look at the acts performing for the in-store show at 7:00 pm. The one full band we have on the bill is a newer Springfield project and from our understanding a heavier band called “Foot“. You can stream some Foot on the player below. Also performing is Kenyon DeShasier. Kenyon makes a lot of music, you should check out his Youtube page. Before that we have excellent musician Matt LaMarca. And opening things up looks like we have a solo musician from Winchester, IL who recently put out an album that we carry in our store on vinyl – Stuart Smith.

The store is open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm for Black Friday (wow). It’s probably safe to say that we’ll have coffee and donuts for all of you early birds. Check out a facebook event for Black Friday at Dumb Records here. The 50% sale applies to everything except those exclusive releases. Do you want that list of exclusives? Here you go:

Record Store Day 2016 April 16th at Dumb Records

RSD2016_big

How could we forget that one of the biggest days of the year for vinyl collectors and record stores will be happening this month? That’s right, Record Store Day is officially Saturday, April 16th this year and of course Dumb Records is a participating store this year along with Recycled Records and The Elf Shelf downtown. We have a few big things planned for record store day this year so there will surely be something in it for everybody. First off, the list of exclusive releases that Dumb will be getting in is by far the biggest list we have ever had. We put an entirely separate page together on our site and you can check that out right here. That list is what we anticipate getting in the store for the very special day. Aside from the list, all non exclusive RSD items in the store will be 20% off! And to top it all off, yes there will be live music in the store! We have DJ Tariq (New York’s Deadliest DJ) coming and performing at some point during the day. Check out the official Record Store Day site right here.

Record Store Day will be happening at Dumb Records for 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (get in line!). Find a facebook event for Record Store Day right here. Also check our shows page for a list of other events coming up in Southtown.
