Here’s a show announcement for something going on in just two days at Dumb Records. (This is this Tuesday, September 21st we are talking about). For this one we have a minimal goth/electronic project called “Forever Grey” coming in from Michigan on tour. Check out some of Forever Grey’s music streaming on the player below. Then we also have the noise / industrial project “Weeping Inequity” from here in Springfield. Also lined up are two other local solo acts. Those include the noisecore/noise project “Gazeebo” and then the acoustic/keyboard project “Rella” by both Drew Kodrich and Clare Frachey.

This one is going to be a late one! We are getting things going right at 9:00 pm inside the store. The show is just $3-5 donations, whatever you want. Check out a facebook event for this one right here, and also our upcoming shows page right here.

Operation Dumb Elephant: Update!

tumblr_ochmey4zi91sj9f9fo1_1280

Some of you might be wondering the status on our Operation Dumb Elephant project that we announced earlier this summer for Dumb Records. Well, we can tell you that the project has been nearly a complete success so far as we were able to purchase the life-sized elephant. An attempt was made to move the elephant into the Miles T Shirts warehouse last week, which was unsuccessful due to the elephant being just about one foot too tall. Check out a video of that process below. The elephant is currently sitting back at the autobody shop, and a big move will probably take place next month getting it in the open lot next to Dumb Records. Stay tuned for more information on that. Also if you pre-ordered a Dumb Records Elephant shirt we will be in touch with you about getting those mailed out or picked up in the record store!

13173553_10153810352970186_2395020774870604366_o.jpg

You all know that on Sunday, August 21st we have something big planned at Black Sheep – and that is the return show for half-Springfield band Looming. That show is happening at 7:00 pm along with bands Euriah and Vonne. Today we are telling you that we are adding a three-band punk show later on at Dumb Records to the mix to make it an all around crazy night. The show happening inside Dumb Records will include the touring band Whitewash from Austin, Texas which you can find streaming on the player below. Also on this show we have Dry Heave, making a return to Springfield for the first time since Dumb Fest. And then we also have the newly-formed GRINN on the bill.

This show will start at around 9:00 pm inside Dumb Records, right as soon as Looming is done playing inside Black Sheep. Donations will be taken for the touring act. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page right here for a look at what else is coming up in the next few months.

OPERATION DUMB ELEPHANT

2016-07-22.png

Okay, we’ll admit it we’ve had some pretty crazy ideas at Black Sheep and Dumb headquarters. We’ve had some pretty dumb ideas before too, but that’s okay. This one might be pretty crazy and also dumb, but we are moving forward with it! We are calling this one “Operation: Dumb Elephant.” That photo right up there ^^ isn’t 100% real just quite yet but it is the end goal of this operation. We are trying to work towards buying a giant fiberglass elephant to give a new home right next to Dumb Records on South Grand Avenue. We need your help though. It is looking like the elephant and trailer with the state it is currently in will cost us anywhere from $1,000 to $1,800 to purchase, repair, and paint.

From now until Saturday we will be collecting donations for this operation. You can drop those off inside Dumb Records (we will have a jar). We aren’t doing an online kickstarter or anything like that this time around. You can donate inside Dumb Records, or paypal us to our account at dumbrecs@gmail.com. If you are looking for a little gift in exchange for a donation, we will be printing *exclusive* elephant tees, and taking pre-orders for those over the next six days in exchange for donations of $15. We can also ship the tees for those of you outside of Springfield. Find the link to those RIGHT HERE. Check out a pic of those below!
