You can stream their music on the player below. Also on this show is heavy hitting Springfield emo group Bottom Bracket. And Secteca? Who is Secteca? Aparently a new local band called Secteca that we don’t know about! Opening things up is a solo performance by Kenyon DeShasier.

November 5th (Monday) at Black Sheep: Alchemist Review Presents Open Mic Night

What’s this? In the string of shows we are currently in (it is looking like six shows in a seven day time period including one show at the CFP, the one off-night in that streak with no shows is tonight)- on Monday, November 5th we have an Open Mic Night happening at Black Sheep. This one is not in fact your typical open mic night that we usually hold at Black Sheep or Dumb – this one is being organized by UIS group The Alchemist Review. We welcome any UIS or LLCC groups organizing events in our space! How great! This open mic is being formatted a little bit differently – time slots are only five minutes and it looks like they are going rapid fire from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm and the group welcomes poets, song writers, short skits, and more. We have a feeling time slots might even all be filled up, but you can email alchemistreview@gmail.com to inquire more.

This starts at Black Sheep this upcoming Monday at 7:00 pm. We think it’s free? Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up in the near future.

November 4th (Sunday) at CFP: Frail Body, Capitol Offense, Final Order, Graveswitcher, Crowning

This weekend is all sorts of crazy packed with shows going on in town starting with the show that happened last night. This one is happening this upcoming Sunday, November 4th at the CFP house. This one is for the touring act Frail Body from Rockford, Illinois up north. Cool! Also on this show is hardcore band Final Order from right here home grown and raised. Also homegrown hardcore and raised is Graveswitcher who just played here last night. Other than that, there’s Capitol Offense (hardcore heavy band) from Decatur. And opening things up it looks like… Crowning (no, actually they probably wouldn’t be opening up), from Chicago.

That is your show. Things start at 7:00 pm over there at The CFP, sorry we can’t tell you where the house is on there. $5 for the touring bands. Find a facebook event for that one right here. Also check out our Springfield shows page for a list of shows going on outside of Black Sheep (we are working on).

It’s Halloween, and if you don’t have anything planned for tonight and looking for something ghoulish to do – look no further than this show that we have going on. Rumor has it that the Chili Bowl Mullet man will be there (first the mayor, and now this???). This one features a stacked lineup of bands from the area. Starting from the top of that list… we have MAC – doing a set of original material this time around. We also have hardcore band Graveswitcher (very Halloween-themed name). Right in the middle we have a newer St. Louis band called Brute Force, which you can find streaming on the player embedded below. Before them is Glower– three piece grunge/indie band featuring a new lineup. And opening things up is the wild & rowdy punk band Foam Fangers.

This starts at 7:00 pm, costumes are of course very much encouraged. Admission is $5. Find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep the rest of this year.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Mobile Deathcamp, MAC (as The Misfits), U.S.M.A., Champagne Cafe, Nethersphere

updatedmacmobilemisfits

It’s the weekend before Halloween! There is so much going on in town this weekend that we can hardly keep up! And there is a big show going on at Black Sheep tonight for all you punk and metal fans. We’ve had the lineup change up a few times on us, and what we are left with is a very stacked five-band show. Tonight we have the band Mobile Deathcamp returning to the Springfield for the first time in nearly five years. Mobile Deathcamp features an ex member of popular metal group GWAR. Stream their music on the player below. The other big feature band on this show is the band MAC – performing as popular horror punk band, The Misfits. Before that we’ve got Uncle Sam’s Mutagenic Children. Then is a brand new band from Jacksonville, Illinois playing some punk/metal that we don’t know a whole lot about called “Champagne Cafe.” Opening things up is a last minute addition of metal rockers also from the Jacksonville area, Nethersphere.

This starts tonight right at 7:00 pm. For admission we are now doing a sliding scale of $7-10, you pick. Find a facebook event for this one right here. And we are about to update the shows page on our website, we promise!

October 27th at Black Sheep: Mobile Deathcamp, MAC (as The Misfits), U.S.M.A., Champagne Cafe

Onward with the show announcements! This one is another big show coming up this upcoming weekend on Saturday! We are very excited to announce the return of Toledo Ohio thrash/metal group Mobile Deathcamp! Mobile Deathcamp features an ex member of the popular punk/metal band GWAR, and performed here at Black Sheep last in January 2014, close to a whole five years ago. Stream some of their music on the player below. This is also going to be an exciting show because we are lucky enough for Springfield punk band MAC to be doing a cover set as The Misfits, in honor of Halloween coming up and all. MAC will be doing an original set as well for our Black Sheep Halloween Show on actual Halloween. We also have hardcore/punk group Uncle Sam’s Mutagenic Children and a brand new group from Jacksonville we know little about called “Champagne Cafe” opening up.

This show starts at 7:00 pm (sorry the flier says 8:00! That was before the addition of MAC). Let’s say admission is $7-10, whatever you think is fair. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future (working on updating it!!!).

We do have a lot of shows piling up in the coming weeks here at Black Sheep to tell you about, and we better start getting through these show announcements here really quick! We have a punk show coming up this Wednesday, October 24th in just a few days. This one may or may not feature new Springfield hardcore band Final Order, we are not sure. There are two touring acts on the bill, both from St. Louis. One is “Chalked Up” – a hardcore / grind band whose music you can find streaming on the player below. The other band they are coming with is Coffin’ Fit– a garage punk group also from St. Louis. Opening things up is completely different genre-wise- a performance by the solo ambient project Pretend I’m Not There.

This show starts at 7:00 pm on Wednesday and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. We are also working on updating our shows page!
