More July show announcements, here we go! On Wednesday, July 13th we have a show lined up for you all. This one features the youthful and rowdy punk band Panzys, who we have not seen in quite a minute at Black Sheep. Make sure to make it out to their spectacular return. The touring / out of town band on this bill is Chicago’s own Lower Automation. They play an experimental type of punk, and you can find their music streaming on the player below. Starting this show off we have a couple of wacky Ted Keylon projects. The first of which is TANG (The Avant National Guard), who will be bringing the noise and the weirdness. Opening things up is the electric ukulele-driven rock band, Sweet Bippy.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can’t find a facebook event for this one yet, sorry. In the meantime you can check out our shows page for a look at what all is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

It’s a Monday night and there is a show happening tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight we have the return of Secret Stuff from Nashville, Tennessee. They last played here in January with Run Forever and Our Lady. Check out some of Secret Stuff’s music streaming on the player below. Looks like the other touring band that was on the bill tonight (Pictures of Verrnon) sadly had to dropped since we originally announced this show. However we still have Lavender, the Central Illinois-based shoegaze project, and also Pretend I’m Not There- the loud and ambient solo project of B.J. Pearce. Then opening things up we have a performance by the femme jazz rock band Shark Week.

The show tonight starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.

We have more of them coming to be featured on our site, you can also check out our vids/pics page for a look at more videos taken from past fests and shows at Black Sheep.

Black Sheep Fest 2016 T-Shirt Design Contest

bxs15_design4.jpg

As many of you know, Black Sheep Fest 2016 is coming up later this summer on August 6th. If you haven’t already you better be hitting the “yes I am going to this” button on the facebook event. The past three years of Black Sheep Fest we’ve done t-shirt designing contests and they’ve always been a hit. This year we are doing it again, and everyone is welcome to participate!

This year we are giving everyone more time than usual to work on designs- you have a whole month!! Designs will be due to our email blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com by midnight on July 19th. No more than one design per person can be submitted. After designs are submitted we will have a poll going on our site for the winner and the top voted shirt will be printed to have at the fest. The winner of the contest also gets a free t-shirt of course.

Get designing those shirts!!!

This one may seem like a little ways off, but on Monday, August 15th we have a pretty good alternative show going on at Black Sheep. This show will feature the very unique band from Chicago, Illinois called The Cell Phones (pictured above). The Cell Phones describe their own sound as dance-pop meets grindcore meets post-punk meets funk. Hmmm, that sounds like it just about covers it all! You can listen to some of their music on the player below. Also on this show and the headlining local act is the local alt-rock band The Complaint Line. We also have the treat of seeing groove-punk band Moondead. Possibly opening things up we have the spooky surf rock group- The Suction Cups.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page where you can find a full list of shows coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Become The Adversary, Dedwayte, Abolith, 108th Street, Trouveur

Tonight, we have a mixed show going on at Black Sheep. It actually features five bands from Springfield and the surrounding area all of which have never performed at Black Sheep before. Be sure to check out The Horse Show going on during the day at the Refuge Ranch as well. For this show we have a local band called “Trouveur” who have not yet performed at the Black Sheep. In fact, this whole show might be made of local bands performing at Black Sheep for the first time! Check out one of Trouveur’s songs streaming on the player below. For this show we also have the heavy metal group Dedwayte. Then before that we’ll be taking a trip over to 108th Street (to see the band 108th Street). Opening things up looks like we have a newer local metal band called Abolith. One last minute addition and at the top of the bill tonight is Become the Adversary from Decatur!

This show will start a little bit earlier at 5:00 pm, and this time around admission is $10 unless you pick up a ticket beforehand from one of the bands for $8. Check out a facebook event for this concert right here. Also check out what else we are planning this summer on our shows page.

Oh, shoot! It’s going down! It’s another hip hop show happening at Black Sheep! This one is happening on Friday, July 22nd. There are a total of five acts performing on this bill, most of which we had on a show back in December. We welcome local hip hop artist Brandon Austin back to the stage. We also have “Shooz”! Then also “The MB” aka “The Mama’s Boy” aka Zach Raps. Before that is “Third L” and last but not least we have Roddrick Lemar, all talented hip hop artists from the area. Sorry we can not find any recorded music for any of those artists.

This show will start at 7:00 pm, and we thiiiink the show costs $5. No facebook event for this one, just the flier, sorry. You can find a list of what all we have coming up this summer on our shows page.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Ceiling Lust, Pretend I’m Not There, Mario Cannamela Blue Parks

13340053_1385109334849403_4213509655686097243_o.jpg

Now that Dumb Fest 4-Ever we’re ready to chill out just a tad and go back to our regular 4-band shows. What a better way to *chill* than this 4-act all-solo show happening at Black Sheep tonight. None of these projects have any band links or any music online, sorry. At the top of the bill we have the newer mysterious industrial project called Ceiling Lust. And then pictured above and next on the list is the loud, ambient guitar project of B.J. Pearce called “Pretend I’m Not There.” Then we have a couple of solo acoustic performers. The first of those is Mario Cannamela (of bands Wir Können and Livin’ Thing), and then we have Blue Parks (of the band Pryss).

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what other shows we have coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
