January 23rd at The Radon Lounge: Extravision, Fel Fae, Yogi Beara, Andy Hoff

Our friends over at Springfield basement venue The Radon Lounge are putting on another show, and when they do that it’s always a good time. This one is happening on Saturday, January 23rd (a week from today). Yeah, there is a show going on at Black Sheep that night too but we want to let you know that you got options if you want to show-hop on your Saturday night. For this Radon show they have singer/songwriter called “Extravision” coming from Iowa. You can stream some of his music on the player below. Also on this show is Fel Fae, a project familiar to Black Sheep. Then there is the two-piece jam rock band Yogi Beara, and then another solo set by Andy Hoff.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Dumb Records 2 Year Anniversary with Boon, Carte De Visite, Wow Wow Gold, Livin Thing

Today is a big day all over Southtown, we will be celebrating the birth of Dumb Records, (which turns two years this week) with a show at Black Sheep! There will be a four band show tonight at Black Sheep, sales all day at Dumb Records, and a raffle to give away a record player going on all day (names drawn tonight at the show). For the show, we have local three-piece project boon headlining the bill. We also have a couple of bands on tour from St. Louis including the emo/post rock band Carte de Visite, which you can find streaming below. The other St. Louis project also playing tonight is a new one called Wow Wow Gold. Then opening things up we have a big grand rock n’ roll debut for a new Springfield band called Livin’ Thing which features members of GUSH, King Worm, and Soap Scum.

The show begins at 7:00 pm tonight at Black Sheep and admissions is $5. You can find a facebook event for everything today right here. In addition to the show there will be a 15% off sale going on at Dumb Records for all items all day long. There will also be $2 raffle tickets being sold in the store all day for a chance to win a brand new record player at $100 value. January 22nd at Black Sheep: Fighting Friction, Tina Sparkle, The Locals

We have a little bit of a last minute show to announce today- one that will be happening here at Black Sheep in just one week on Friday, January 22nd. This show will featuring the touring band Fighting Friction (pictured above) coming all the way from Fallbrook, California. Check out Fighting Friction’s music streaming below. Also on the show is Peoria friends Tina Sparkle, who recently played at Black Sheep back earlier in November. Opening things up we have the three-piece local band The Locals.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Falter, Green Messiah, Dry Heave, Pryss

There’s a show happening tonight at Black Sheep and it’s going to be a heavy one! Tonight will mark the return of Milwaukee Wisconsin’s Falter, who have played here a number of times in the past. You can stream some of Falter’s music on the player below if you are unfamiliar with the band. Also on the show we have the newer local sludge/doom project called Green Messiah. Before them is a guest appearance by the punk band Dry Heave from Champaign/Urbana. And kicking things off we have a performance by a brand new Springfield band called “Pryss” which features members of GUSH, Mouthsex, and Wilt Candy.

February 14th at Black Sheep: Valentine’s Day Dance with Epsom, The Suction Cups, The Good Companions, Livin’ Thing

Remember the Valentine’s Day “Ska Formal” we held at Black Sheep last year? Well, Valentine’s Day is coming right up all over again and we are doing it again, maybe this time with out as much ska. On February, 14th we will be hosting the “Black Sheep High School Valentine’s Day Dance”! (Which really has nothing to do with high school, we just think it sounds cool). This is just going to be a fun show where all types of dancing is encouraged! This show features Springfield rock band Epsom headlining the big shabang. You can stream some of Epsom’s music below. Also on this show we have the surf rock band- The Suction Cups. Before them is a local band called The Good Companions who are new to The Black Sheep. And up first we have “Lovin’ Thing” AKA “Livin’ Thing” which is a brand new Springfield band who will be playing their first show this Saturday.

February 12th at Black Sheep: SAP, The Minotaurs, Moondead

Yes, we have a show coming up at Black Sheep on Friday, February 12th. It’s just a nice and short three band show that we will be starting a little bit later than usual at 8:00 pm. For this show we have the grunge-pop three piece local group SAP, who just played our first show of the year a couple of weeks ago. This show also features the touring garage rock band The Minotaurs, coming from Madison Wisconsin. You can stream some of The Minotaurs’ music below. The third and final act on the show is brand new Springfield band Moondead! They played their first show at Black Sheep just a couple of days ago.

The store turns two years old right around now, and there is a big party/show coming up this Saturday at Black Sheep in case you have not heard. Tonight at Black Sheep: Roots Like Mountains, Noesis, Set Fire To Salem,Vacant Skies, Through Burning Eyes

It’s a Monday night but there is a metal show happening at Black Sheep! This show will feature the touring spoken word/indie act Roots Like Mountains coming all the way from Colorado Springs, Colorado. You can check out some of their music streaming below. Also on this show is Carlinville/Central Illinois-based metal band Noesis who are no strangers to Black Sheep. Before them is the newer Springfield metal band Set Fire To Salem. We also have the three-piece metalcore band Vacant Skies. Then it looks like things are going to kick off with “Through Burning Eyes“- a newer metalcore band from Alton, Illinois.

January 30th at Black Sheep: “Winter Wreck”

Get ready to wreck pretty hard, because on Saturday, January 30th we have a big ol’ “Winter Wreck” coming to Black Sheep? What is this about? It’s pretty much just a bigger show with a few more bands than normal being put together by Grow The Scene– a booking company based out of Chicago. This show will feature seven whole bands, all from the area. These include:

Tonight at Black Sheep: Wir Können, Farseek, Moondead, Paqui

It may be a really cold Sunday, but the weekend starts tonight here at Black Sheep! We have a show tonight and tomorrow night so get ready. Tonight will be the return-from-tour show for local emo rockers Wir Können, who just made it out to the east coast and back. They were out on the road with touring solo act Farseek from Ohio, who’s music you can find streaming below. There have also been some slight adjustments to this show since it was first announced, we now have Paqui playing instead of The Suction Cups. Then we also have the first ever show for a new Springfield band called Moondead whose first song we had featured on our site yesterday.
