Black Sheep in 1902

A team of some of the world’s top archeologists and paleontologists have just discovered what appears to be a photograph of Black Sheep and Skanks Skates in the year 1902. Skanks, which was built in 1899, is referred to as “McGaffery Saloon.” Black Sheep appears to be a house, which we can only assume held punk shows in the late 1800’s which Abraham Lincoln more than likely attended.

Henry Rollins at Hoogland Center For Arts Tickets On Sale

This is really old news for a lot of you, but since we have not really mentioned the fact that Henry Rollins is coming to Springfield in October, we thought we would go ahead and share.  From the Hoogland‘s website:

Henry Rollins hits the campaign trail this fall for a two-month tour hitting all 50 state capitals – starting September 6 at Hawaiian Brian’s in Honolulu, HI – and wrapping up on the eve of the Presidential election at the 9:30 Club in the nation’s capital. Titled Capitalism, Henry’s latest talking tour offers not so much a voting guide as an outside viewpoint – an unflinching quest for truth that’s sadly lacking in the profit-driven American mass media.

Rollins will be coming to The Hoogland on October 11th.  Tickets have already gone on sale for $32 in advance and $35 at the door.  They can be purchased here.

Test Patterns Unreleased Album Featured On Some Things Can’t Be Ignored

Springfield music blog “Some Things Can’t Be Ignored” has featured a new and unreleased album from old Springfield hardcore band Test Patterns.  You can find the recordings here.  From the Some Things Can’t Be Ignored blog:

For those of you who don’t know, or maybe just weren’t involved with “the scene” at the time, Test Patterns were an unfortunately short-lived hardcore band from Springfield.  Composed of Cory Howell (217 Skate Shop owner) on vocals, Aaron Freeman on guitar/vocals, Dave Hinc on bass, and Andy Harmon on drums.  I was fortunate enough to see these dudes perform a handful of times.  I think ALL exclusively at the Asylum (I miss that place), if I remember correctly.  To sum up their music in three words — intense, fast, LOUD!  Like any proper hardcore band, they didn’t waste time with long, drawn out songs.  Most clocked in at under a minute and got their point across just fine!

The unreleased recordings come from 1997 and are intense as ever.  You can find more albums and recordings from more old Springfield bands at the Some Things Can’t Be Ignored website.
