OurLadyRadio1For our second episode of Black Sheep Radio, we have a couple of special guests coming into the studio! We will have Tim and Jess of Our Lady in the studio to talk about Our Lady‘s upcoming winter tour, their kickoff show, and more things going on with their band. Along with us talking to Tim and Jess, we will be featuring recorded music from all sorts of bands local to Springfield, discuss upcoming shows, and more music going-ons in town. We will be airing LIVE from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday on 88.3 fm WQNA. You can stream the show online through the WQNA website right here!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Kowabunga! Kid, Hospital Job, Nephrons, Mildred

12531_107675892734907_740387808_nThere is a show tonight! And it’s going to be a really fun one so you should all come out. Kowabunga! Kid is on tour from Champaign, Illinois and you should check out their surf-punk tunes. Then we have Hospital Job playing pop punk for you all and they should have their new vinyl for Downer Downer DownerThen Nephrons will be there playing some new tunes as well. And be sure to catch Mildred as they come “back from the dead” and play this show.

Lovecow in the Studio

IMG_0953Lovecow have announced that they have begun recording for a new release at Harm House Basement studios. Singer Cody Jones had this to say:

Seven hours of recording at the f/harmhouse! Needless to say, I have worsening body aches and a scratchy throat. The recordings sound really good so far, though.

We will be sure to keep you all posted on news of new Lovecow recordings and shows in the coming months.

Skeletal Lightning Fest Announced In Champaign

untitled-2A new festival of bands has been announced that will be held in Champaign, Illinois called Skeletal Lightning Fest. You can see the festival’s website here. The festival will be taking place on April 5th and April 6th. Bands playing include Northless, Dowsing, The Reptilian, Tiny Moving Parts, Restore, Thieves, Droughts, Alta, Victor Shores, Locktender, Coma Regalia, Brighter Arrows, Aseethe, Kittyhawk, Foxing, Boilerman, Easter, Natural Disasters, Hank., Enta. For the complete line up, you can head here. More bands are supposed to be announced on the Skeletal Lightning website sometime before the fest.

2/2 @ Black Sheep: Our Lady, This Noise, Mildred

16812_4217164829732_494618440_nLook at that! We have our first February show already. This will be Our Lady’s return from tour show so be sure to come out and show the band your support! We also have touring act This Noise. They play indie-rock from Evansville Indiana. Then we have Mildred, the three-piece band that is apparently back from the dead.

Springfield hardcore Pound For Pound will be taking the stage and may be playing some new songs for you all. Then we have the return of ska-punk act Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi playing Black Sheep for the first time since September. Come skank and mosh along to some great tunes. Other bands are to be announced.

Featured Photos: New Year’s Eve Show at Harm House

Today we bring you a fresh batch of photos from a Springfield house show that happened outside of Black Sheep. If you were at the show at the Harm House this New Year’s Eve you know a crazy time was had by all, and you might also be recovering from a cold. Bands that played included Mother Leopard, a new band called Soap Scum?, Estates, Mildred, and there was also an Our Lady/Scott Blacula battle set! The battle set was very intense and resulted in Scott Blacula winning the battle over shared guitarist Nick Demarco.

January 19th at Black Sheep: Dog of Panic, Jet W Lee, Coed Pageant, Mystery Gift

JAN19thposter3Mark your calendars, because in two weeks we have an indie rock show for you all to come and indie rock out to! Saturday, January 19th is sure to be a fun time. Headlining we have the local Springfield rock/funk band Dog of Panic. They also have a new album coming out soon! Then as far as touring acts go we have Jet W Lee playing rock music from Chicago. Then we have the beautiful indie rock duo the Coed Pageant from Champaign. Stream some of their music below! And then to open things up we have the debut of a brand new Springfield band called Mystery Gift, featuring members of Mildred.
