March 21st at Black Sheep: Honeysuck, The Seething Coast, The Half Truths, The Luzhin Defense, Epsom

the seeth

This is going to be a pretty wicked show we have coming up on Friday, March 21st. The local spoken word vomit band Honeysuck, featuring members of JAG and Our Lady, will be giving off a super expressive set to start the night out. The Seething Coast will then be punking out in a rad way so be sure to check them out because they’re one of the veteran local bands we still have circulating in Springfield. Another band coming around at this show will be The Half Truths. They’ll be giving us some downright Texas pop-punk so if you don’t know what that means, come find out. The Luzhin Defense is another local band playing this show that will have some deliberate, eerie spy-techno tunes for us to jam to so that will provide a cool facet to the genres of the evening! Tonight we’ll also be featuring some local punkers that have been around Springfield for awhile as well, and ladies and gentleman and its they are called Epsom. Their tunes are what I’d like to call oldschool goof-slam tunes, so if you’re a fan of newschool slime at all you really shouldn’t miss these guys.

So the doors will open for this show at 6:00 pm so come on around and hear some cool tunes. This show will also be $5. It’ll make you cultured. Here’s the facebook event. Make sure not to miss the Satanic ritual in the alley behind the studio. No potlucks.

The show featured Our Lady, Run Forever, Cloakroom, Looming, and even had a wild and unexpected set from a new Springfield band called Mouthsex. Thanks to a few photographers that were at the show, we have gathered an album of photos from the show which we now have on our flickr page. Extra special thanks to out of towner photographers AJ Francis and Adam Brumback for taking photos of the show.

We are excited to announce that on Wednesday, April 9th we will be hosting a show for the singer/songwriter Koji from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is also an activist and founded the organization “Colormake” as a collaborative effort between artists and activists from all over the country. Koji described this tour:

For this tour, I’ll be taping shows at alternative spaces and independent venues for the second installment of my Spring Song live series. I’ll be supporting my first full length Crooked In My Mind which came out on Run For Cover last April. Additionally, I’ll be promoting the first vinyl pressings of both Spring Song Volume 1 and Some Small Way EP. This will be the first KOJI solo tour of the states since last winter’s Acoustic Basement tour with Geoff Rickly and Vinnie Caruana.

You can find some of Koji’s music streaming below.  Koji will be touring with A.N. Palamara, who is another singer/songwriter from North Adams, Massachusetts. There will also be a performance at this show by local emo/hardcore band Our Lady. Opening things up is the newer Springfield acoustic project called Rella.
