I’m Dead Inside: “Songs Written Before Jumping…”

Today we are bringing you a stream of some new music from yet another brand new Springfield band called I’m Dead Inside. New bands are popping up left and right around these parts and it’s great. This new band features members of Our Lady, Paqui, and Montagh. Their first three-song release is called Songs Written Before Jumping Out Of An 8 Story Window. You can find the artwork for that above and the songs streaming below. You can also head over to the band’s bandcamp page and download the EP at your own price.

I’m Dead Inside will be playing their first show on Monday, May 19th along with Flesh Born, Gas Up Yr Hearse, and Yusuke.

Say Something: “Fred Hampton”

Springfield punk band Say Something are now streaming their very first eleven-song release up on bandcamp. We have the release, titled Fred Hampton streaming below. You can also head over to the band’s bandcamp where you can download the whole thing for $5.

Say Something will be playing at Black Sheep tonight along with Stuck Lucky, Muldoon’s Clever Girls, and Akaname. That show is at 7:00 pm and $5. They will also be playing at Black Sheep as part of Record Store Day on Saturday, April 19th. There is a good chance that the Say Something cassette for Fred Hampton will also be the released at Record Store Day!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Stuck Lucky, Akaname, Muldoon’s Clever Girls, Say Something

It’s Wednesday night and tonight we have one ska-punk explosion of a show happening at Black Sheep. There will truly be something here for the whole family. We have Stuck Lucky coming from Nashville Tennessee to play for us all. The last time Stuck Lucky played at Black Sheep was seven years ago! This show is also exciting because it will be the very first performance by a brand new Springfield ska-core band called Akaname. They have released one song called “Bird Girl” which you can find here. Next up we have Muldoon’s Clever Girls traveling all the way from Iowa. They last played Black Sheep in November as part of “This Is The End Fest.” Opening things up will be the fast punk band Say Something. Come be a part of the top notch circle pits for this show.

May 22nd at Black Sheep: RDNT, Epsom, Lifer, Carnivores At Grace, The Butts

Today we are bringing you a show announcement for this show happening about two months from now on Thursday, May 22nd (hopefully there’s no snow on the ground then). For this show we have the return of Carnivores At Grace from Chicago. They played at Black Sheep last month along with Ultra Bide, which was a really fun show.  Carnivores of Grace will be coming around this time on tour with Lifer, a post-hardcore band from Florida. You can check out a few of Lifers tunes on the player embedded below. This show will also a feature a separate touring band, and that is the punk rock legends The Butts, who are formerly from Carlinville, Illinois and used to play here frequently. We also have a few local bands. There will be a performance by the weird-rock band Epsom which will sure to get you moving. Then we have the younger punks RDNT that will be sure to also rowdy up the crowd.

Well think again! MUCK///\\\FOUNTAIN is a brand new solo ambient project of Brandon Carnes of Looming, The Timmys, Tiger Tank, Big Storm, and more. You can find the new 8-minute long track titled “///\\\” streaming below or you can also find it right here on the band’s bandcamp and available for download for $1.

If not, then this is the show for you anyways. We have the band Flesh Born coming from Denton, Texas for this show. Flesh Born features a member of the Texas band Two Knights who also recently played at Black Sheep. Also on this show is Gas Up Yr Hearse! from Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. The last time they played at Black Sheep was for the first Dumb Fest last summer. Then we have another Dumb Fest band Yusuke coming from Peoria/Bloomington, Illinois. Both of those bands play fast screamo. To top this show off we have the first show of a brand new Springfield screamo band called I’m Dead Inside. The weather is getting warmer and on Saturday, April 19th we will be hosting a big all-day event at Black Sheep and Dumb Records for Record Store Day. For this we will be having THREE separate shows- one at 1:00 pm inside Black Sheep, one at 3:00 pm inside of Dumb Records, and one inside 7:00 pm inside of Black Sheep. WOW. WOW! Did you get all of that? That was a lot to take in, we know. So at 1:00 pm there will be a free three-band show inside of Black Sheep. Then at 3:00 pm there will be another free acoustic show inside of Dumb Records. THEN at 7:00 pm there will be a $5 regular show inside of Black Sheep featuring Spoonboy, an act that will be on tour from Washington DC. You can check out some of Spoonboy’s music below. This will also be the very first show for a brand new Springfield project going by the name “Fuck///\\\Mountain.” We have been told that this is a new solo project featuring one of the members of Looming and Big Storm. This show will ALSO be the cassette release show for Springfield punk band Say Something. That’s a lot of stuff.

We almost forgot to mention that everything inside of Dumb Records will be 10% off during record store day! We also might have a few special items featured in store for this day for all of you record collectors. There also might be a few slight changes to the inside of the store and you may get to see even more new and used CDs/cassettes/vinyl up on the shelfs in time for Record Store Day.

unnamed2Today is Friday. Today on The Black Sheep Radio Show we have TWO very special guest bands. It’s going to be wild. Both bands in on today’s episode will also be playing Black Sheep at the show tonight. The first guest is weird-rock band Epsom. They will be talking to us about the band’s formation as well as things they are currently working on. Next up is the two-piece synthpop project The Luzhin Defense. They will also be joining us as guests for the first time on our show. Both of these bands will be playing the show tonight at Black Sheep along with Honey Suck, The Half-Truths, and The Seething Coast.
