New Music From Dumb Fest Bands: Run Forever, Bugg, Benny The Jet Rodriguez

Dumb Fest 3-D is coming up quick (11 days away to be exact) and plenty of the bands playing Dumb Fest this year have new music being released this summer. Today we have a post to highlight some of those bands who have recently have had new music come out.

The first of those is Run Forever from Braddock, Pennsylvania. The band just released a single for a three-song 7″ called Big Vacation (pictured above) coming out on July 10th. You can head over to Brooklyn Vegan right here to stream that song and read more about Run Forever’s upcoming release. Run Forever will be playing day one of Dumb Fest 3-D.

Another Dumb Fest 3-D band, Bugg, from Bloomington Indiana have recently released a demo cassette and you can stream that on the youtube player embedded below. The band will have the cassettes available when they play day two of Dumb Fest 3-D

The third Dumb Fest 3-D band that recently put out some new tunes is Benny The Jet Rodriguez from Long Beach, California. They recently released a split 7″ with the English pop band Martha. You can stream a song from Benny The Jet Rodriguez’s side of the split below. They will be playing day two of Dumb Fest 3-D.

Dumb Fest 3-D Roundtable Meeting Tonight at Black Sheep

14430130461_0b8ef51e66_oIt’s June, so that means we only have a little amount of time left to prepare for Dumb Fest 3-D happening on June 12th and 13th this year. Tonight at 8:00 pm we will be having a Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting to discuss Dumb Fest related things, come up with ideas to make the festival the best it can be this year, and to also organize help. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join us, even if you feel that you don’t have much to contribute. We will also be talking about SOHO Festival happening downtown this upcoming weekend and also the ongoing Project Southtown Kickstarter Campaign.

Videos: Vacation at Black Sheep

The band played here on May 10th along with Looming and Kowabunga! Kid. You can see the video of them playing their song “Straight To My Head” live at Black Sheep below.

June 3rd at Black Sheep: Tantive IV, The Creative, WARRS

10858424_838183229579811_4002236380611001662_nLooks like today we have a last minute show to announce- and this one is happening this upcoming Wednesday, June 3rd. This show will feature two touring bands from Indiana and one local. For one of the two touring bands we have the Indianappolis screamo band Tantive IV (pictured above). You might remember Tantive IV playing a South Town Studio show earlier this year. Tantive IV will be coming with another Indy band called “The Creative.” You can check out some of The Creative’s music streaming below. The one local on the show right now is the screamo/hardcore band WARRS, who just recently released their seven-track demo and will possibly have it out on cassette for this show.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Wir Können, I Before E, Itto, Naturally The Foundation Will Bear Your Expenses, Fel Fae

Tonight Wir Können will be playing their return-from-tour show- they have been out on the road traveling South to Florida and elsewhere. Wir Können has been out on the road with the band “I Before E” from Atlanta, Georgia who will also be playing the show tonight. You can stream some of I Before E’s music on the player below. Also on this show we have the Chicago sceamo band “Itto,” who wiill be playing their first show here at Black Sheep since Dumb Fest 2 last year. Then we have a third touring band, and that is “Naturally The Foundation Will Bear Your Expenses” from Omaha, Nebraska. Opening things up we have the newer instrumental band from Springfield called Fel Fae.

Next Black Sheep Open Mic June 21st

opendevonOur Black Sheep Open Mic that was held at the beginning of May was a huge success. So much of a success that we want to keep putting on more Black Sheep Open Mic’s for anyone to participate in! The next Black Sheep Open Mic will be happening on Sunday, June 21st. We will be taking submissions for any of the thirteen 10-15 minute time slots we have open. You can take a look at the facebook event and leave a comment if you would like to snatch up any of the slots. Here is what the lineup for this open mic is looking like so far:

Paqui: “Southtown Demo 2015”

a1945654480_10We are a little late to the game on posting this, but it looks like the acoustic solo artist who has been playing shows for a while at Black Sheep now- Paqui– finally has some recorded music up for us to hear! Paqui recorded a four-track demo at South Town Studio earlier this spring. The demo is called Southtown Demo 2015, and you can check out the artwork above or stream the music on the player below. You can also head over to Paqui’s bandcamp page to stream and purchase the download for the demo. Paqui does not currently have any shows lined up at Black Sheep, but keep your eyes and ears out for some in the near future!

Tonight at Black Sheep: The Sites, The Oceanographers, Full Chroma, Full Mountain Damage

Tonight at Black Sheep is our third show out of four in a row and we have lots of rock music coming your way! For this show we have a band called The Sites coming from Pekin, Illinois. We also have the surf/rock Peoria band The Oceanographers on the show. The Oceanographers are no strangers to Black Sheep, as they played here back in October. Next on the lineup is local Springfield rock group, Full Chroma, who will be sure to make you jump up and down. Stream some of Full Chroma’s music on the player below. To complete the lineup we have another rock group from Mantino, Illinois called Full Mountain Force. Make sure to catch all four of these great bands!

Tonight at Black Sheep: In Exile, The Howl, Space Alpacas, Nighthawk

10300954_741305882574441_2753908077824407071_nThere is a lot happening in town tonight! First off there is a great rock show happening at Black Sheep tonight. Two Chicago area bands- In Exile and The Howl will be playing the final date for their recent Northeast tour. Both bands have played Black Sheep a few times before. In Exile is pictured above, and you can find some of The Howl’s new music streaming below. Aside from those touring bands, we also have the Springfield rock band “Space Alpacas” taking the stage. Come to the show right when it starts at 7:00 and you might be able to catch a rare on stage performance of the legendary Nighthawk.

The show at Black Sheep starts at 7:00 pm and costs $5. Find a facebook event for the show right here. Don’t forget there will also be some acts from the Black Sheep Cover Show playing at Bar None also tonight as another benefit for the Project Southtown Kickstarter. That show is for ages 21+ and begins at 9:00 pm.

July 10th at Black Sheep: Hospital Job, Broadside, Old Again, Lifewithout, The Locals

For this show we have the Springfield band Hospital Job playing some of your favorite pop punk hits. We also have the touring band “Broadside” coming from Richmond, Virginia. Check out some of Broadside’s music streaming below. On tour with Broadside is a band called “Old Again” from Central Florida. They play more pop punk. Then from nearby we have the Alton, Illinois shoegazey band called Lifewithout. Opening things up we have a performance by the local band “The Locals.”
