New Band Pages: Attic Salt

atticsalt

It’s been a minute since we’ve brought you a brand new band page on our site. That doesn’t mean there has been a shortage of new Springfield bands forming though. We’ve got some catching up to do, and we are starting today with the new fuzzy power-poppy punky band Attic Salt! Attic Salt do not have any recorded music yet, but you can check out their new band page on our site and read more about them on their new page right here. Also check out a video of the band playing live at their last show right here. Attic Salt currently does not have any more shows lined up, but we will make sure to let you know when they do!

Check out any of our 60+ current band pages we have set up right here. There are even more past band pages you can check out right here. Do you play in a Springfield band we have not yet gotten a page set up for? We would love to hear from you! Send an email to blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will work with you to set something up.

243_w_fullbig.jpg

Would you look at that! That up there is the only T-shirt design submission we have had so far for Black Sheep Fest 2016! We announced our T-shirt designing contest for the fest a few weeks ago and haven’t had a whole lot of responses since then. Yes, everyone is welcome to participate! This is just a reminder that we will be collecting submissions by midnight on next Tuesday, July 19th. You can submit your designs to us through email at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com. From there we will have a poll going on our site so you can vote for your favorite designs, and one will be chose to be printed as the official Black Sheep Fest 2016 t-shirt!

Again, Black Sheep Fest 2016 is happening this year on Saturday, August 6th. It is our ninth Black Sheep Fest since we started having them in 2008. You can find a facebook event for the fest right here, and a Black Sheep Fest 2016 page on our site.

After the Black Sheep Battle of the Bands last weekend and dancing wolves on our stage, it’s time to get back into the swing of things a little bit with a regular ol’ show tonight. This one features the youthful and rowdy punk band Panzys, who we have not seen in quite a minute at Black Sheep. Make sure to make it out to their spectacular return. The touring / out of town band on this bill is Chicago’s own Lower Automation. They play an experimental type of punk, and you can find their music streaming on the player below. Starting this show off we have a couple of wacky Ted Keylon projects. The first of which is TANG (The Avant National Guard), who will be bringing the noise and the weirdness. Opening things up is the electric ukulele-driven rock band, Sweet Bippy.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. In the meantime you can check out our shows page for a look at what all is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Our very special #1 guests on The Black Sheep Radio Show are… let’s see… pull the curtain Mike! It’s… is that?… Oh! It’s Kowabunga! Kid! And looks like we are catching them at the tail end of their big west coast tour! We’ll get to hear all about how that went today! Pictured above is Kowabunga! Kid and then an extra Brian Galecki thrown in the middle there because Brian will be interviewing the band on the radio. We might also throw in an extra live video feed in there as well, which you will sure to be able to find on the Black Sheep Radio Show facebook page. Sure, we’ll be playing plenty of tunes from The Kids and also of plenty other local bands and bands that are coming to town.

You can catch our radio show from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm. You can also stream it online at the same time at wqna.net. Check out our radio page for a few downloadable episodes of the past.

Tonight it looks like we have a fun one lined up for you all at Black Sheep. We have the return of Kowabunga! Kid, and lucky for us we one of the band’s last stops on their big West coast California tour. Kowabunga! Kid recently put out a full length LP, which you can pick up at Dumb Records and also stream on that player below. Rumor has it they will also be our guests today on The Black Sheep Radio Show. Also on this show is Springfield heavy hitting gushing band GUSH. Then we have another touring act and that is The Noids from Denton, Texas. The fourth band and possibly taking the stage first is Livin’ Thing – the punk band in Springfield filled with plenty of bad ideas.

The show tonight starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page to keep up with everything else coming up at Black Sheep these next few months.

Tonight, there might not be a Super Moon in the sky but there will be one in our venue. We have the band “Super Moon” (pictured above) coming from Omaha, Nebraska. What are they about? Looks like they play some type of “moon rock” and you can find their music streaming on the player below. This show will also be a tour kick-off show for Decatur, Illinois’s very own Mammoth Cannon, and will also be their first time performing at Black Sheep. Come say “hi” and “bye” to them. Opening things up looks like we have the very psychedelic and very groovy Jacksonville-based band Flamingo taking the big stage.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. And of course check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up this summer at Black Sheep.

We have a three (maybe more?) band metal show happening tonight at Black Sheep as our hectic summer jam-packed with shows continues. For this show we have a two band touring package lined up. The touring package includes the band The Cambion (pictured above) from somewhere in Indiana and Illinois. Then coming from a little bit farther away is the band Fail To Decay from Minnesota. Stream some of Fail To Decay’s music on the player below, it’s metal. Since the show has been announced, it looks like Noesis have been added as the one local band on the bill. There is possibly another act playing, we’ll just have to wait and see tonight!

It’s looking like this show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up this July and rest of the summer.
