Videos: Livin’ Thing at Black Sheep 7-8-16

Screen Shot 2016-09-18 at 2.39.24 PM.png

Today we bring you a video of Springfield rock n’ roll hardcore group “Livin’ Thing” performing at Black Sheep earlier this summer on July 8th. The video is taken by Texas based world-class videographer Will Mecca and can be seen below. This is also one very rare performance where the band featured a real live 7 foot tall animatronic wolf as a keyboard player. See that wolf in action on the video.

Livin’ Thing currently do not have any shows lined up at Black Sheep, but stay posted. Check out our vids/pics page for a look at more pictures and videos shot inside Black Sheep over the past 11 years.

September 25th at Dumb Records: Dave Adams, SAP, The Heptanes

livemusicdumbflier.jpg

We got a show here coming up at Dumb Records in just a little bit over a week that we are excited about. The new PA system inside Dumb Records is ready to go and hopefully we will have a elephant right outside the store by then, which will be a perfect setup for this show. For this one we have Springfield music legend Dave Adams flying in from California for the weekend to play a couple of shows and to attend a class reunion. Dave was active in the Springfield music scene from the late 1970’s on through the early 90’s, and performed in an early punk/new wave group called “Food & Money.” Check out a video of Food & Money below, as well as some of Dave’s current solo music which he will be performing at the show. Also on the bill we have Springfield grunge rock band SAP. Then opening things up we have the first ever performance of a brand new group called “The Heptanes” featuring Scott Faingold (Epsom) and Jason Perry (The Seething Coast).

All of this will be kicking off at 7:00 pm that day at Dumb Records (1107 South Grand East Ave.). We will be taking $3 donations for the show. Also everything inside of Dumb Records will be 15% off during the show. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything coming up around Southtown this fall.

A couple of weeks ago we started announcing all of our shows for September, apologizing for how last minute the announcements were. Well now we are REALLY behind on all of that, and we have some shows to tell you about that are only a few days away! You can expect at least one show announcement on here just about every day for a few weeks from here on out. Here is one happening this upcoming Tuesday, September 20th. This one is going to be a four band show for all of you weirdos out there. It features the Springfield two-piece project Sweet Bippy. It also features the Pana, Illinois band “Roofus“. Then the touring band on this bill is a band from Minnesota called “JILL“. You can check out some of Jill’s music streaming on the player below. Looks like opening things up this time around will be a performance by newer Springfield band Attic Salt.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep this fall (we are catching up)!!

No Black Sheep Radio Show Today Because We (Were Going To Be) Moving An Elephant (Sorry)

14066223_10209847960743421_1239711115725042652_o.jpg

It would have be great to have a Black Sheep Anniversary edition of The Black Sheep Radio Show today but sadly we are having to cancel the show due to moving this giant elephant (pictured above) into the lot next to Dumb Records.

Hey though, we could use some help! Anyone interested in helping us move this thing can show up at 5:15 pm outside of Dumb Records (1107 South Grand East Avenue). Don’t forget the show tonight at Black Sheep also still starts at 7:30 pm.

***EDIT*** Now that it’s raining a whole bunch we aren’t even going to be able to move the elephant! AND we don’t have a radio show planned!! %&##$%!! @*#$%!!!

Tonight’s the big night! The Black Sheep will be celebrating a whole 11 years of our existence (first show was September 16th, 2005). It sure has been a wild ride, and things might be getting weirder as we go into our twelfth year- we will be moving a giant elephant into the lot next to Dumb Records today at 5:15 pm if everything goes as planned and could use some help! The show tonight has gone down to three bands so we are pushing back start time to 7:30 pm right on the dot. Tonight we have rock n’ roll ridiculousness Livin’ Thing, who recently just got back from a world tour. Stream their music on the player below. Also tonight is a performance by hardcore band GRINN. Then opening up tonight is a new Springfield band – “Synzu” who will be making their Black Sheep debut tonight at the anniversary show.

Again the show tonight starts right at 7:30 pm. Come at 5:00 pm if you want to see us or help move a giant elephant, weather permitting. Show admission tonight is $5. Find a facebook event for the show right here. Also check out our upcoming shows page right here.

Monday fun day! How are we doing today folks? Do you have your coffee and all the things that make you feel okay? We hope so! Things are good over at Black Sheep Cafe headquarters, and we’ve got a cool show line up to tell you all about. This one is happening on the 9th of November and will consist largely of solo projects and the extensions that result from them! Notorious big wig B.J Pearce of Livin’ Thing, GUSH, Our Lady and Starlorde will be celebrating the tape release of his deeply reflective solo set Pretend I’m Not There. Come out and support him, and bring a chair! Also playing the show will be PJBaby, an extension of the jams by PJ Famicon of Super famicon. War Magic will also be returning to the stage so give them a shoutout because we haven’t heard from them in awhile! Linder is a solo set consisting of Tara Lynn Tracy from Take my bike…please! hailing from Bloomington Normal, IL, and Ceiling lust is a local act containing Kyle Ratliff of Our Lady and Bedroom Wounds. This should be a heartfelt show so mark your calendars!
This show will be kicking off at 7pm with a door fee of $7 on the evening of November 9th! We will have hot coffee and tea for sale! Here’s a Facebook event  and a link to our shows page for digs on other shows coming up!
