Tonight’s the big night! The Black Sheep will be celebrating a whole 11 years of our existence (first show was September 16th, 2005). It sure has been a wild ride, and things might be getting weirder as we go into our twelfth year- we will be moving a giant elephant into the lot next to Dumb Records today at 5:15 pm if everything goes as planned and could use some help! The show tonight has gone down to three bands so we are pushing back start time to 7:30 pm right on the dot. Tonight we have rock n’ roll ridiculousness Livin’ Thing, who recently just got back from a world tour. Stream their music on the player below. Also tonight is a performance by hardcore band GRINN. Then opening up tonight is a new Springfield band – “Synzu” who will be making their Black Sheep debut tonight at the anniversary show.

Again the show tonight starts right at 7:30 pm. Come at 5:00 pm if you want to see us or help move a giant elephant, weather permitting. Show admission tonight is $5. Find a facebook event for the show right here. Also check out our upcoming shows page right here.

Wow! This show is the finale show of a 4 day streak we’ve had over at the Black Sheep and we’re excited to present this Tuesday night lineup! We have artist Kevin Seconds coming to perform some lo-fi folk tunes, and many of you may know him from band 7 Seconds. Jeff Williams of local legacy band NIL8 will be performing a solo set, local crooners in Spooky Poo will be taking the stage tonight as well, and Austin Connely will open up the show with some acoustic tunes. That’s a really nice deal for a Tuesday night!

The show is going to start at 7pm and the cost will be $8, so show up wearing the remainder of your summer wardrobe because after this week the entrance of flannel weather is most likely going to begin. Here’s the Facebook event for your viewing pleasure, there are some pretty good videos of crabs on the discussion page. Don’t miss out on the updates on our shows page for info on upcoming shows here!

Metal Show Tonight at Black Sheep + Comedy Show at Dumb Records

momdo.jpg

Let’s face it- in this town you’re either into metal and metal shows, or you’re into comedy and having a good laugh, OR you’re into both. There isn’t anybody out there who dislikes both, right? So tonight we definitely have something for everybody happening in Southtown with a metal show starting at 7:00 pm inside Black Sheep and a comedy show starting at 9:00 pm inside Dumb Records.

Happening first is a five band metal show at Black Sheep featuring The Convalescence from Toledo, Ohio and who are no strangers to Black Sheep. This time around they will be bringing a touring package including Apothica from Houston, Texas. Then we also have a band on tour called Dead Eyes Always Dreaming from Kalamazoo, Michigan. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. All of this will come with local support from Through Burning Eyes (from around here), and Grays Divide (from Decatur). This show will start right at 7:00 pm and you can check it out for $10. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a complete look at everything coming up at Black Sheep in the next few weeks.

Then inside Dumb Records we will be hosting a few comedians in the store as the metal show next door in Black Sheep is coming to a close. The comedians on deck include Dan Alten from Bloomington, Indiana and Eric Sorgel from Nashville, TN- both of which did a comedy/hardcore split show with Diaper Rash at one point a little over a year ago. It was a good time. This time around we have Brandon Judd, comedian from St. Louis opening things up for them, and also possibly a little bit by Devon Fluelen? The comedy show will be likely starting inside Dumb Records around 9:00 pm. We are taking $5 donations for the touring comedians. You can check out a facebook event for this one right here.
