It looks like another September has popped up on our calendar here at Black Sheep and we are very excited! On Tuesday, September 24th we will be welcoming Boom Boom Kid all the way from Argentina. Wow! Boom Boom Kid is a solo project of sorts of Carlos Rodríguez formerly of the hardcore Argentinean band Fun People. Boom Boom Kid plays a type of punk/pop-punk that is sure to get you bouncing. We are excited to welcome in these Argentinean punks. Also playing the show is Springfield’s own Nephrons who recently put out a new record. This show will also be the first show of a brand new Springfield project called Strong Power. We don’t know anything about the type of music this new band played or who is in it, so we should all be in for a treat!

Look at this interesting show that just snuck its way onto our upcoming shows in September! On Thursday, September 12th we are hosting a show that will be a combination of harsh noise and spoken word. We have The Outlook coming all the way from Boston, Massachusetts. What kind of band is The Outlook? The Outlook is not a band! The Outlook is a spoken word project which raises awareness of various social and political issues such as drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence,eating disorders, animal abuse, environmentalism, and child prostitution/exploitation. The Outlook will follow the intense and harsh noise of IAMIAM, a newer noise project featuring Austin Connelly of Montagh. This show will also feature a little bit of Springfield spoken word, as we have Aubrey Puyear doing some of her own spoken word. Then we have harsh noise project Gazeebo playing their second show at Black Sheep complete the show.

Today we bring you ANOTHER September show announcement. This one is going to be the spookiest of shows because it is on Friday the 13th. It also features some pretty scary punk bands bringing you some bad luck. Playing this show is local punk/hardcore band Soap Scum. They will also be playing a show one week from today with Cross Me and Wolf Luv. The touring band on the bill for this show is Bad Side, who play a rowdy punk rock from Philadelphia. You can stream their demo on the player below. We also have a new hardcore band from St. Louis playing called Rüz. We have heard that it features members of Suburban Epidemic and Lumpy & The Dumpers. Opening things up we have the mighty Mother Leopard, who might be putting on their first show in Springfield with a new vocalist.

It looks like we have a great show coming up at the end of September featuring all types of heavier emo/screamo and punk music. This show is Sunday, September 29th! It features Lord Snow from Chicago. They play some very intense screamo and this will be their return to Black Sheep after playing here early last summer. Stream a few of their songs below! Also on the show is the mighty Our Lady. This is their first show scheduled at Black Sheep since Black Sheep Fest so let’s come out and show them some love! Next up and also from Chicago is Sword Swallower. This newer Chicago band features members of My Dad and The Valenteens. Next up is Peoria/Bloomington band Yusuke who will be making their return to Springfield after their set at Dumb Fest. Opening the show up is a newer local band called Mystery Gift which features members of Mildred.

Ya like skramz? Ya like gettin’ sad? Ya like gettin’ mad? Well, this sure is the show for you. We have three bands not from around these parts. Headlining the whole shindig, we have Estates, an Emo group from Milwaukee that played at the Harm House on New Years! Check their stuff out down below! Also from outta town, we have Whenskiesaregray, a screamo band on tour ALLL THE WAY from Baltimore. The last outta town band we have playing is Ghost Key, also a screamo group but from Peoria. They will be touring with Our Lady in the fall. Also playing, we have Gazeebo, a local noise project, and Blank Gravestone, which played the Battle of the Bands a while back.
