May 20th at Black Sheep: Black Panties, King Worm, Leech Pit, Gutterpriest

Looks like on Wednesday, May 20th Black Panties will be coming back to Black Sheep for an all around great lineup of a punk show! Black Panties may have been a favorite band for many for one of the bands that played The Black Sheep stage at Dumb Fest 2 last June. You can stream some of their recorded music below. Also playing this show is the mighty King Worm, who just released a hit music video for their song “Pizza Punx” that you can check out right here. Before them is a new Springfield punk band called Leech Pit- who will also be playing their first show at Black Sheep tomorrow. To top off this great lineup, we have the hardcore/noise one-man project Gutterpriest opening things up.

May 31st at Black Sheep: Wir Können, I Before E, Itto, Naturally The Foundation Will Bear Your Expenses, Fel Fae

Happening on Sunday, May 31st at Black Sheep we have a great five-band show featuring a few bands from all over the country and a couple of locals. On this bill we have Springfield three-piece emo group Wir Können, who just played at Black Sheep yesterday as a part of our special Record Store Day show, which was a great success! On to the touring bands we have the slowcore band I Before E from Atlanta, Georgia. You can stream some of their music on the player below. Also on tour is Chicago-based screamo band Itto. Itto last played at Black Sheep as a part of Dumb Fest 2 last June. The third touring band on the bill is a band called Naturally The Foundation Will Bear Your Expenses from Omaha, Nebraska. And opening things up we have the new Springfield instrumental two-piece called Fel Fae.

May 30th at Black Sheep: The Sites, The Oceanographers, Full Chroma, Full Mountain Damage

Coming up on Friday, May 30th we have a rock show happening at Black Sheep that you all should come to. For this show we have a band called The Sites coming from Pekin, Illinois. You can stream some of The Sites’s music on the player embedded below. We also have the surf/rock Peoria band The Oceanographers on the show. The Oceanographers are no strangers to Black Sheep, as they played here back in October. Next on the lineup is local Springfield rock group, Full Chroma, who will be sure to make you jump up and down. To complete the lineup we have another rock group from Mantino, Illinois called Full Mountain Force. Make sure to catch all four of these great bands!

May 10th at Black Sheep: Vacation, Looming, Kowabunga! Kid

Coming up here on Sunday, May 10th we have an excellent three-band show happening at Black Sheep. For this show we have the experimental/fuzz-punk band Vacation coming out on tour from Cincinnati, Ohio. You can stream some of Vacation’s music below. In addition to Vacation, we have a couple of bands familiar to Black Sheep. We have local indie/pop band Looming on the bill and also the fuzzy punk band Kowabunga! Kid from Champaign- the last time both of those bands played at Black Sheep was for the March 25th Screaming Females show, which ended up being the most attended show we have had at Black Sheep so far this year!

May 18th at Black Sheep: The Treasure Fleet, Hospital Job, F///\\\M, The Locals

Today, we’re excited to announce a literal “out of this world” show. The cosmos’ premier rock-operaists Treasure Fleet will be making a stop at Black Sheep on Monday, May 18th. The  cosmic punk quintet borrows pages from Bowie, Neu! and Sagan to take listeners on a unique, interstellar pop journey. You can check out their newest album, short film and manifesto “The Sun Machine” on Entertainment Weekly’s website. The astronautical experience will be rounded by Earth based acts Hospital Job, F///\\\M and The Locals.

The adventure will be starting at 7pm, and will cost $6 to join. Astronauts hardly stop through South Town, so you’ll surely not want to miss this rare Earth expedition. May 8th at Black Sheep: Diaper Rash, Eli Whitney & The Sound Machine, Freya Wilcox, The Locals

Looks like we have a show coming up in about a month at Black Sheep on Friday, May 8th that should be a good one. This show will feature Springfield thrash-rocking masked babies, Diaper Rash. We also have a couple of acts coming from out of town. We have a New York-based ska/punk band called Eli Whitney & The Sound Machine. Stream some of their music on the player embedded below. They will be touring with the blues/punk act Freya Wilcox, who is originally from Australia. Opening things up will be a performance by Springfield three-piece pop band The Locals.

Black Sheep Open Mic May 2nd

On Saturday, May 2nd this spring we are hosting the first Black Sheep open mic night we have had in many many years. Why haven’t we been doing open mic nights at Black Sheep? Good question. We are going to see how this one goes and keep doing them in the future if everything goes well. This open mic night is already filled to the brim with 15-minute slots. Let’s take a look a what is lined up:

May 1st at Black Sheep: Fel Fae, Sargent Karate, (New Band)

This show will feature the newer Springfield two-piece instrumental group Fel Fae (pictured above). We also have the one-man black metal project forged from the band lotto last summer called “Sgt. Karate” or “Sargent Karate (Everyone Is So Pretty)” for a longer version. Starting things off there is a performance by an new and mysterious unnamed band. We are not sure who is in the new band, but you can check out some sort of song and teaser right here. Be on the lookout for one more possible addition to the show!

April 17th at Radon Lounge: Sounds Of Satellites, Red Sweater Lullaby, Honey/Suck, Hannah & The Drummer Boyz

April 17th marks the next big show at The Radon Lounge. Featuring two touring bands, Sounds of Satellites from Orange County, CA and Red Sweater Lullaby from Las Vegas, NV along with local spoken word act Honey/Suck and a new band from Lanphier High Hannah and The Drummer Boyz.

Midwest Punk Fest 7 in Bloomington, IL

Our friends and neighbors over in “BloNo” are putting on the 7th Annual Midwest Punk Fest this May. Covering two days with 24 bands (including Springfield’s own fudgy-core pioneers Diaper Rash and perennial teen idols The Timmy’s); this is set to be another great weekend Fest!!!
