Tonight At Black Sheep: Montagh/Unraveler Split Release Show with Montagh, Unraveler, Sam Rockwell Machete Champ, Naughtalus, and Mystery Gift!

Tonight’s the night, folks! The BRAND NEW Montagh and Unraveler Split EP is finally out and tonight is the night that you purchase one all for yourself!! We’re even having a show to celebrate it’s release!! Opening things up tonight, we have the new emo/grunge-y group Mystery Gift featuring members of Meredosia and Mildred. After them, we have Naughtalus, an experimentally-rockin’ good time! Then we have Sam Rockwell, Machete Champion, a folk-y solo act from Ohio. After that, we have Unraveler, who is a solo act from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that is best described as emo folk. You can check out both acts down below! Then, closing things for the night, we have Montagh, the beloved Goth-Folk quartet.

This show costs 5 bucks and starts at 7pm! Definitely come an hour early if you want to get in on our Black Sheep Thanksgiving Feast. We have alot to be thankful for so why not celebrate it in one of the raddest places in town with super cool folks and great music? If you come, try and bring some food to share! If you don’t come you should still get to this show early cause you’re not going to want to miss a single second of it! Montagh to Release Split With Unraveler in November

m u splitWe finally have an update for the split local goth-folk band, Montagh, announced a while back! The artwork for the split has been released, which you can see above. The other musician that will be apart of this is Unraveler, a solo artist that describes herself as “Pittsburgh solo bummer jams”. You can check out a double EP that she just put out entitled “I Will Ferment” and “A Worm In The Dirt”, as well as the rest of her releases, here.

This split between Montagh and Unraveler will be released November 16th. Our Lady to Release “Dawning II”

Today Springfield emo/hardcore band Our Lady have announce that they will be releasing some sort of new and revamped version of their EP previously released this sumer, DawningDawning was released earlier this year through Turn of The Century Records. Our Lady also released their Vessels 7″ through Mind Over Matter Records earlier this summer. It looks like the new version of Dawning will be released on It’s A Trap! Records and the release for the new cassette is scheduled for November 15th. From Our Lady’s website:

Hello friends! We are really excited to say that the reason we have been recording is that we will be doing a very “special”, limited run cassette re-release of our E.P. “Dawning” through It’s a Trap! Records ! The reason we say “special” is the entire E.P. has been revised, re-recorded, remastered and it will also come with all new artwork as well as two new songs! We are very excited to put out a version of “Dawning” that not only makes a jump in recording quality but more closely resembles our original idea for the E.P. “Dawning” will be out on cassette November 15th and pre orders will be up within the next week through: Itsatraprecords.com. Our Lady will be playing in Springfield next on Tuesday, November 5th at Black Sheep along with Two Knights, Wir Konnen, and Jessica Knight. Wir Können Is Releasing A Tape!

You heard it here folks! Local sad-boy emo group Wir Können is putting out a cassette tape. The dudes have been talking about recording for a while (ever since they formed) and now it seems that there’s some truth to it all. It looks like it’ll be 2 songs (one on each side) for 2 bucks. What a bang for your buck! They’ll be selling them at their next show at the Black Sheep which is November 5th! Looming EP up for Free Download/Looming Video

Brand new Springfield indie/pop rock sensations Looming have made their self-titled EP available for free download on bandcamp. Earlier this month we brought you the stream of the six-song EP. You can find the link to download the EP right here, or on the bandcamp player embedded to the bottom of this post.

We also have a video from Looming’s very first show on September 21st at Black Sheep! You can check that (shaky) video above. Today we are bringing you a full stream of Looming‘s brand new six-song EP! You can stream the entire EP on the bandcamp player embedded above. The EP features a newly recorded version of the hit “The Definition of Home” along with five other originals. Looming is a new Springfield band featuring Mitch Baker of Lovecow, Jess Knight of Mother Leopard, Brandon Carnes of Big Storm, and Jordan Fein formerly of Our Lady.

You can buy the physical CD from the band at their upcoming show this Saturday at Black Sheep. Looming will be playing their first show along with The Timmys, Skank, and Built In A Day. The CD is being released by Springfield label Patch Records.

Our Lady’s “Vessels” 7″s Are In

Springfield emo band Our Lady finally have their new 7″ Vessels available. You can add them to the list of awesome Springfield bands who have recently had music come out on vinyl along with Nephrons and Hospital Job. The Vessels 7″ was released by Michigan-based label Mind Over Matter Records. The 7″ can be ordered from the label right here. It is available in both transparent red and opaque lavender. You can stream all three of the songs off of the 7″ on the player embedded below.

The vinyl will be also available at both of Our Lady’s upcoming Springfield shows. One of those is coming up fast later this month! That will be on Sunday, September 29th along with Lord Snow, My Dad, Yusuke, and Mystery Gift. The second show will be on Tuesday, November 5th along with Two Knights, Wir Konnen, and Jessica Knight.

 

Montagh Recording/Plan To Release Split

A couple weeks ago, local Goth-Folk band, Montagh announced on their Facebook page that they were going to release a new split! We do not yet know what band they have decided to do a split release or what format the new material will be released on. Very few details have been released yet, but there have been pictures posted of the band recording. The top right picture, in specific, was posted with the caption “11/16/13”. What could it mean??

We will keep you posted with more details about this upcoming split. In the meantime, check out Montagh‘s previous releases on their bandcamp page right here! Lovecow: “Lovecow”

Hey everybody, guess who has a tape out? Lovecow! That’s right, one of our favorite local folk punk bands Lovecow has a tape out titled “Lovecow”. Check it out below or head over to the band’s bandcamp page here! As they state on their page, this is their very first cassette tape! On it lingers 11 tracks, with some popular songs of theirs such as “They Say”,  “Do Something” and “Sorry I said fuck at the JSA show”. Mixed in are some new songs so make sure to check it out! It’s swell stuff. Recording was made possible by Sir Brandon Carnes and was released on the 27th of this month (at Black Sheep Fest). You can get it for $5 at any of their shows or download it through the link I inlcuded above. Do one or both and float on some folk punk tunes for awhile!

You can also pick up the cassette from Lovecow at their show at Black Sheep tomorrow (August 3rd). They will be playing along with Kowabunga! Kid, Wir Konnen, and Douglass.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Nephrons, Hank, Cassfield, Caterpillar Club

Get stoked! It’s gonna be a good show tonight. Here’s whats goin’ down. We’ll have the awesome local 90’s sounding punk band Nephrons. This is going to be the day of their Black Bedroom record release! Check out the 411 on that right here. Emo noodle punks Hank. will also be joining us! They are an experimental, indie emo band from Champaign and they are stoping by Springfield as a part of their summer tour. Cassfield will be coming at us from the east coast with some far out, techno tunes, and some type of performance art. Last but not least, local sludge-gazing band Caterpillar Club will be joining us too!

The weather is estimated to be partly cloudy between 29 degrees C/ 20 degrees C. Show up at 7:00 pm and have 5 dollars in your hand!
