Tonight there is nothing going on at Black Sheep, but we do have all sorts of holiday related things happening elsewhere around town. First off Dumb Records will be set up at White Oaks Mall all day today from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. The store will have a pop-up shop on the lower level of the mall right next to Santa himself (pictured above). If you find us and use the codeword “mynamekyle” you get 10% off your purchase! We’ve also made a last minute decision to have our regular location CLOSED today since most of our records are going to be at the mall.

Tonight there is also the Christmas Explosion at The Radon Lounge. There will be three acoustic acts performing. The first of which is Dan Smith who performs in the band Listener from Ohio. Also on the lineup is another solo act, Levi The Poet. Then kicking things off is Kris Rochelle from the band Red Sweater Lullaby, who also recently performed at Radon. In addition to music you can expect to find a potluck, various games, and coffee. The Christmas Explosion will begin at 6:30 pm and the show is $10. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. The Radon Lounge’s shows are all ages, and to find the address you have to inquire at radonlounge@gmail.com. Springfield house venue The Radon Lounge posted their “14 Things From 2014,” a list of 14 things that happened there that made 2014 a special year. From The Radon Lounge website:

One of our basic human needs is to obtain some top 10 list of things at the end of a calendar year. Do not fret, as I will not disappoint you. My spin is to provide 14 memorable moments of 2014. I’m not saying any of these moments are better than others, or are in anyway all the great moments of 2014, these are just 14 awesome things that happened at the Radon Lounge

The Radon Lounge has also already set the date for their big Horse Show happening in the summer and that is Saturday, June 20th 2015. No bands have been announced so far, but you can head over to their Horse Show Page for a better look at what that is all about. Happening on Saturday, August 23rd, the Radon Lounge is going to be hosting a lovely garden party. This fine party will feature the dynamic talent of the folk-core band Filmloom, hailing from Grand Rapids Michigan. Next they’ll have an act called Zaxxson Nation & the post-funk, which is definitely something that everyone should be able to get jiggy to if you dig the spirit of funk. Local emotional spoken word act Honey/Suck will also be playing this cool show. California based act Clark Edward Andros will be gracing the party with his independent country tunes as well, so overall this show should be super fly.

Come to this show at the Radon Lounge on August 23rd, it’ll be at 7pm with a $5 suggested donation. There will be free ice pops as well as iced coffee for sale so don’t miss out! Here’s the facebook event for more information, make sure to check out other shows happening in venues around Springfield as well as other shows at Black Sheep!
