1383805_692839657434071_1298358259_nAs you may know, we are just a matter of days away from having a dumb record store in our own Southtown neighborhood. It is called Dumb Records and the grand opening celebration is this Saturday, which will be happening all day all over Southtown. Since we know all of you can not hold your excitement for the new record store, today we are giving you a small sneak peak and the things to come with a few photos of our progress. Check them out above and below.

dumbrecs3 dumbrecs2 dumbrecs1You might be able to spot some goodies in those photos. Don’t forget that our grand opening is this Saturday, January 11th. The celebration will be from 12:00 to 9:00 pm at Dumb Records and at Black Sheep, but Dumb Records will be open at 10:00 am so come early if you want to have first dibs on some of those records! There is also a very good chance that Dumb Records will be having a soft opening on Friday, January 10th. You can follow Dumb Records on facebook to be more up to date on what time that soft opening will be. Calling For Show Photos!

tumblr_mv58dxu18Q1s2rlhfo1_500

Hey there all you showgoers! Do you find yourselves snapping pics on your phones whilst experiencing a good show at the Sheep? That’s great. You should keep doing that, because we want to see them too! If you share those priceless snippets of time on the internet, you will grant people the gift of sight and that’s rad. People will get to see what kinds of things happen at Sheep shows, whether it’s a shot of a band performing, a moshpit caught in mid-motion or some mad face making (or all three put together). Why not share those things with all the people you listen to good music with?

All you need to do is post the pictures you take on the Black Sheep Facebook group or email us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com. It’d be greatly appreciated! You can also post pictures on event pages. Try to tag people and bands if you can help it!
Check out our super swell Black Sheep Photo archive to see all the people who have contributed to this noble cause thusfar, and come to Hobgob 2013 tomorrow! It’ll be the best, spookiest place to get started.

More Old Black Sheep Photos

Our team of top archeologists and paleontologists are working hard continuing to uncover more secrets about Black Sheep’s mysterious past. Earlier this fall we brought you photos from our very first Black Sheep Fest in 2008 and photos from Black Sheep Fest 2010. You can check out all of those photos and more on our flickr page, which now has over 2,000 photos.

Today we are bringing you a mix of photos of around Black Sheep in our earlier days. These photos would have been taken sometime around the ancient years of 2006-2008. You can check out a few of the photos below, or see all of the new photos that have been added at our Black Sheep flickr set.

Photos: Black Sheep Fest 2008

Today we are taking a step back into the past. Five years into the past to be exact. Our team of top archeologists have helped us uncover a batch of photos from the very first Black Sheep Fest, which was help on July 25th, 26th, and 27th in 2008. Yes, it was also the only Black Sheep Fest to span the course of three days. The photos we are showing you today are of a few bands who played the last two days of the fest. You can see the flier with all of the bands and a few photos below. For the complete batch of photos, head over to our Black Sheep Fest 2008 flickr set. For photos from our most recent Black Sheep Fest, check out our Black Sheep Fest 2013 flickr set. Extra special thanks to photographer Devin Softley who took the photos five years ago!

Photos: Black Sheep Art Show

The Black Sheep Art Show last night was a huge success, and we would like to thank all of you who came out or participated in the event. There was a wide range of art and acts from murals to comic books, from piano playing to spoken word. We have gathered a few pictures from last night, some of which you can check out below. For a few more of these pictures, head over to our Black Sheep flickr set, where we have been keeping photos of Black Sheep outside of usual shows with bands playing. Be on the look out for art shows in the future.

Some of you may have also noticed a couple of new murals that have been popping up inside of our space. You might be wondering what it takes to do a mural or art piece inside of Black Sheep. Well it takes nothing! Just talk to us at a show or email blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will arrange something so you can come and do art in our space.

Photos: Black Sheep Fest 2013

This past weekend was a success on many levels for Black Sheep and Springfield music as a whole. Great times were had by all, and we saw many bands put on some fantastic sets. We saw lots of new faces, a few old ones, and there were also plenty of surprises. Here is what Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford had to say:

The fest yesterday was great. Thank you to everyone involved. Truth be told I did not think Black Sheep would be here for 8 years, but I sincerely appreciate everyone who has supported it. As long as you got something good from us, it doesn’t matter if you’ve been around 8 minutes or eight years.

And now for the pictures! We have about one hundred pictures gathered from Black Sheep Fest, and they are still coming in! You can check out a few of those photos below, or head over to our Black Sheep Fest 2013 Flickr set.
