Some Things Can’t Be Ignored: Dead Zebbra Live in 2009

The Springfield-related music blog Some Things Can’t Be Ignored has featured a new post containing live recordings of a Dead Zebbra set at Music At The Mall in Iowa in 2009. From Some Things Can’t Be Ignored:

What we have here is a killer performance from the fellas on Halloween of 2009 at Music at the Mall in Keokuk, Iowa.  The lineup for this show was Nate on guitar and vocals, Todd Plummer on bass and Kyle Wells on drums.  Short, but INTENSE set!!  …and they even do a Nirvana cover, so watch out for that!  This recording was later taken to the studio for “cleanup”, so it sounds pretty darn good!

You can check out the full post and download the live recordings here.

Our Lady Talk of Upcoming Plans

Springfield punk folks Our Lady have made a tumblr post explaining line up changes and future plans for the band.  The band has parted ways with drummer Gary, who will continue to drum in Pound for Pound.  Kyle Ratliff (Caterpillar Club, Mother Leopard, Foxtail) will take Gary’s place as the new drummer.  The band also touched up on plans for their next tour and full length.  From the band’s tumblr:

Our Lady is planning an upcoming release for which we have already started the writing / recording process. The only details we know about this release is it will hopefully be out before Spring of next year. We will be playing a lot more new songs at shows, and there is a possibility of a special release before our 16 day tour in January.

You can read the full post here.  You can also see Our Lady play at Black Sheep on Tuesday, October 9th with the band Run Forever, which is a week from today.

New Band Pages: And God Said Dance

Emperor Norton Recording in BXS/Exclusive Track Debut

Over this past weekend, Springfield skate thrash outfit Emperor Norton set up shop and recorded a demo. They spent the day tracking the 12 song demo, which I think clocks in under 10 minutes (don’t quote us on that). Emperor Norton’s Twitter page kindly supplied some pictures of the good times.

As the great dudes they are, Emperor Norton has decided to let us exclusively stream one of the newly recorded songs. Listen to the track “Hide Your Kids, Hide Your Socks” below:

Emperor Norton is playing this Saturday at Tin Can Pub. Scott Blacula is releasing their demo at the said show. It starts at 11pm, and is $5. Want more info of Springfield shows? Check out the Springfield show page.

David Liebe Hart’s WMAY Interview Pt. 2

As we said in our last update, we would be filling you in once the second part of the interview went live. Greg Bishop on Saturday Session does not disappoint in this second part. This time Greg and David Liebe Hart discuss politics, street music, and “Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!”.

The second part is located HERE, and the first part is HERE. Be sure to tune in next week on 970 AM between 3pm and 7pm to hear the third part.

David Liebe Hart will be performing at Black Sheep with Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi and Dino Bravo on the 28th of September.

New Band Pages: Fill In The Blank, ingot, The Wide Awakes, Tabula Rasa, Enamel

We have a few band pages up for some past and current bands in Springfield.  First is Fill In The Blank, a younger band with strong pop punk influences.  Then we have Enamel, a band that was around from 2001 to 2010 but recently came back from the dead.

Special thanks to Ben S. Jacob and Fred Nephron for getting us information on some of Springfield’s important past bands.  Ben used to play in the band ingot, which was around in Springfield from 1993 to 1995.  Fred was kind enough to help set up pages for two of his old bands, The Wide Awakes and Tabula Rasa, as well as set up new bandcamp players for them.

If you play in a band or have played in one in the past and would like to help us get a band page set up for you, please email us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com!

New Band Pages: Battalion

A new band page has been set up for St. Louis/Springfield metal band Battalion.  Check it out here.  And if you like what you hear/see then come to their show this Saturday at Black Sheep with Elyse and Vengeance!  You can also check out many other band pages on our current bands list.

Do you play in a band here in town?  If we haven’t talked to you already about setting up a band page, we would like to.  Send us an email at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com.
