Springfield Area Arts Council’s “Artist On The Plaza” Series

AoA

Here we are today telling you about an “Artist On The Plaza” series that is just about over, and started back at the start of July. This one is being organized by the Springfield Area Arts Council, and it is a Tuesday and Thursday series taking place right outside of Café Moxo, one block over from us here downtown. From the Arts Council website:

For over thirty years, the Springfield Area Arts Council has hosted a summertime concert series called Artist on the Plaza. This year, the Arts Council will host the program with a new title, Artist on Adams, and a new location, outside Café Moxo. As in previous years, this series will consist of performances by local musicians and is free to the public. The hour-long concerts will be family-friendly and enjoyable for all.

The Arts Council acknowledges the Illinois Arts Council Agency for funding the concerts this year through an arts relief grant.

These events are free to the public, and happen right at noon, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. The two remaining performances are Erica Eggers on Tuesday, August 4th and then Josie Lowder on Thursday, August 6th.

No, we are not anywhere near ready to begin hosting shows inside our own show space yet.

Major concert and festival cancelations for this summer are no surprise at all at this point. This is month old news, but we had not mentioned that Downhome Music Festival, which was set to take place this upcoming weekend, has been cancelled for this year and postponed until 2021. This would have been the tenth year Downhome Music Festival has taken place in downtown Springfield. From the Downhome Music Festival facebook page:

The health of our community is the most important thing. We are canceling the 2020 Downhome Festival and beginning our planning for 2021. We love you all and can’t wait to be together again.

It doesn’t seem like any major events or festivals will be taking place anywhere… in the world… until at least next year! Happy 2020!

Arcade Page Added To Our Website

108798616_3448558615195481_4723190029821725843_o-1

This is just a post to let you know that we updated our website to include an “arcade page” which you can find as a top level page on the main menu bar. Or find it right here.

Right now the page is basic info, rules and regulations about our arcade. Maybe we will keep building it to include an FAQ section of frequently asked questions we get about the arcade or games. We will also update it as our capacity, hours, or regulations change as the months go on.

Be sure to also check out our underground pinball forum.
