Studio Updates From Elyse

Local metal act Elyse have posted some updates from the studio as they record their first full length. The album is set to be nine to twelve songs with a tentative release date of November 4th. The album is brutal throughout, metalcore with hardstyle synth. The band had this to say:

Just heard the demo track of one of our songs for our album coming out in November, and you guys might not be able to handle it.

It’s going to sound as professional as anything else you would buy in a store.

Elyse also wanted to mention that their bassist has one hand. If you think you can handle Elyse’s live performance you can check them out this Sunday at Black Sheep along with bands Vengeance, Trepidus, and Tormented Faith.

Battalion Finishing Recording for Second EP

Battalion have recently finished recording for their second EP entitled “Resilience.”  The EP still needs to undergo mixing and mastering and will likely be released before the end of the year.  Guitarist Josh Masten had this to say:

Hitting the studio with Battalion is proving to be the best decision ive made this year, can’t wait to show the world.

Some earlier Battalion demos can be heard on the band’s soundcloud page.

10-21 Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting Recap

Above: A Magic Tournament was held at Black Sheep in the beginning of October

Are you looking to get more involved in the Black Sheep community and our space? Then coming to the bi-weekly Black Sheep roundtable meetings would be a good way to start! Our last meeting was on Sunday and here are a few things we touched up on:

  • Hobgob 2012 was a huge success and we are all excited for shows and events to come in our space!
  • We agreed it would be a good idea to invest in Black Sheep stickers to be available for free at shows. A few hundred have been already been ordered.
  • There are still a few areas in our space that need to be painted and cleaned before the winter.
  • We need more new art on our walls! If you are an artist and are interested in doing any murals or art installations then get ahold of us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com
  • A big holiday show is in the works as well as some other great winter events.
  • There are also plans to start a wall of fliers of past Black Sheep shows. Start digging up those old show fliers.

Sunday will not be the last roundtable meeting!  If you are interested in participating in our next meeting it will be Sunday, November 4th at 7:00 pm.
