Springfield indie/rock band Park have announced that they are a band again. Singer Ladd Mitchell came on to Black Sheep Radio yesterday afternoon to tell listeners that Park is reuniting and also working on a new album. Ladd also talked about his plans to move to Chicago, and confirmed that his other project Tiger Tank will continue to be active.

Along with the announcement Park announced that they have two shows lined up- one at Soho Fest downtown Springfield on June 8th and another at Fubar in St. Louis on August 17th. You can also catch some of the members of Park in the band Tiger Tank at Black Sheep this Wednesday along with Our Lady, Gospel & The Wolf, and Jessica Knight. We plan to post updates when more Park shows are announced, or when more information is known about the new Park album.

Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting Sunday

IMG_2643Good morning everyone. It looks like this Sunday (May 19th) we are due for another roundtable meeting at Black Sheep. This time we will be meeting at 4:00 pm at the Black Sheep itself. We will be discussing things like Dumb Fest preparation, where we are at with our bills, and other upcoming shows. Everyone and anyone is welcomed to come to our roundtable meetings. We might be cleaning up the inside of our space a bit as well.

Can’t make it to the meeting? That’s okay! We have a get involved page set up for those of you looking for what else you can do to help out.

Audiofeed Music Festival in Urbana

audiofeedHere at blacksheepspringfield.com, we always have some music festival going on somewhere outside of (or in) Springfield to tell you about. Today we bring you news of a new festival called “Audiofeed Music Festival” happening in Urbana this summer on July 5th and 6th. This festival may be taking place miles away in Urbana, but there is a “Black Sheep Stage” being ran by Kevin Bradford of Black Sheep himself! Bands playing this stage include Maylene & The Sons of Disaster, The Scurvies, The Skies Revolt, and many more. The festival is being put together by those who were involved with putting together Cornerstone Music Festival in previous summers.

For the complete lineup of bands playing, you can go here. Audiofeed Fest also has a website which you can check out here. Here is a list of other things going on from the website:

We will have music.  Good music.  Maybe some big names yet to come, maybe all the kinds of bands that made Cornerstone great – the underground and unknowns that are, frankly too creative, too intensely passionate to receive broad market appeal,

Camping – RV and tent sites.

Speakers – you’ll know that we are doing what we’re doing because we are passionate about following the example and teaching of Jesus.

Community.  We were created for community. The combination of everything above, experienced with friends old and new.  That feeling… if you’re one of “us”, I don’t need to explain it.  If you’re not, we welcome you to experience it with us.

Park Announcement Tomorrow on Black Sheep Radio

park_800As we have been posting, Springfield emo/indie band Park have been full of teasing us and their fans a lot lately. First we have seen pictures mysteriously popping up on facebook of equipment and gear, and then there is a new website with no information other than “2013” and song lyrics.

Today we bring you news that Park will finally be revealing what they have to announce on Black Sheep Radio tomorrow. Singer/guitar player Ladd Mitchell will be in the studio with us to make the big announcement. We will also be joined by Kirk Donely to talk about his show coming up Saturday with Real Live Tigers, and also his current plans for his band The Transatlantic. You can catch Black Sheep Radio on air tomorrow from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm or you can also stream the show online at wqna.org.  For more information on the Black Sheep Radio show, and old episodes for download, check out our radio page.
