Tonight at Black Sheep: Punk Rock Cookout

punkrockcookoutput1It’s another show tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight we are doing something special… it’s a punk rock cookout! There is a show happening tonight with four great punk rock bands and if you come early at 6:00 pm we will have some great food for you to eat. This includes hotdogs and veggie dogs alike. Then the music starts at 7:00! What do we have on the menu for bands? Headlining the show is Springfield’s favorite punk rock band The Timmys! Then we have a couple of bands traveling from St. Louis to play here for the show! One is The Cuban Missiles! You can check out some of their music streaming below. The other St. Louis band is The Haddonfields. Opening things up we have Springfield’s newest and youngest punk band RDNT. All of this is sure to be a real treat.

Horse Show Promo Video

With all of the Dumb Fest news and announcements we have been posting, we feel it is important to remind you all that there is another big festival happening around Springfield on June 15th (one week from today). That is The Horse Show, put together by The Radon Lounge and held at The Refuge Ranch just outside of Springfield. Above you can see a video explaining the point and purpose of The Horse Show as well as some things to expect at the festival.

The Horse Show is taking place from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm next Saturday at The Refuge Range. The full lineup of bands can be seen at The Radon Lounge’s Horse Show page on their website. The festival is also donation-based.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Carielle, Ashland, Lovecow, Atlas At His Finest

941782_10151665159255619_2093254115_nHey! There is a show happening at Black Sheep tonight and it is a great day for it. Come to Black Sheep and hang out and watch some great bands! Tonight we have the band Carielle from Grand Rapids Michigan. They play a type of folk/indie rock and you can check out one of their videos below. Then we have the pop-rock band Ashland who are from around Central Illinois. Then for Springfield bands we have Lovecow– the five-piece all acoustic folk-punk band. And opening things up we have a newer and younger Springfield band making their Black Sheep debut called Atlas At His Finest. All of that sounds like loads of fun, right?

Dumb Fest at Black Sheep and Skank Skates One Week Away!

The excitement is building up! We are scrambling to get ready for DUMB FEST which kicks off with a Renae reunion show exactly one week from today! In case you did not already know… Dumb Fest will be next weekend on June 14th and 15th at Black Sheep and Skank Skates. Day one features a Renae reunion and four other bands inside of Black Sheep. Day two is an all-day festival happening at Black Sheep and Skanks featuring twenty bands from Springfield and all over the country. Some notable acts include Tenement, Big Eyes, Our Lady, The Copyrights, and many more. The complete lineup can be seen on the flier above or also on our Dumb Fest page.

Tickets for Dumb Fest pre-orders will only be sold for a few more days! Those can be purchased online here or also at Black Sheep during shows. Tickets are $15 for two-day passes or $10 for each individual day. Ticket pre-orders end at midnight Thursday night. SOHO Music Festival Tonight and Tomorrow

537203_575171539189168_765272683_nIf you are in Springfield and you head downtown this weekend, you are sure to run into a lot going on and plenty of live music. That is because this weekend the ninth annual SOHO Music Festival is happening! SOHO Music Festival is a festival happening every year at the Old State Capital downtown featuring two days of local music and fun. The event is also a big benefit for the Mini O’ Bierne Crisis Nursery.

Some notable bands include The Station and Park (who will be playing their first show as a reunited band). Like… With Jetpacks: “Melt Faces Melt Hearts”

a2587925992_10Today we are bringing you a full stream of a brand new EP from Springfield’s video game themed band Like… With Jetpacks. The new EP is called Melt Faces Melt Hearts and it features seven tracks including some covers and some originals. You can find the EP here on the band’s bandcamp page or also streaming below. The songs are available for a name-your-price download on bandcamp.

Like… With Jetpacks formed in 2010 and includes members of other Springfield bands The Gunga Dins, Nephrons, and Hospital Job. Keep your eyes and ears out for more Like… With Jetpacks shows at Black Sheep or in Springfield.

 

Tomorrow on Black Sheep Radio: Brian Galecki and Kevin Bradford

kevinradioTomorrow afternoon on Black Sheep Radio we have a couple of regulars and friends of the show coming in. Hopefully that won’t stop the radio crew from keeping things fresh and exciting for you all! We have Brian Galecki and Kevin Bradford of Black Sheep coming in to talk about some big Dumb Fest happening in one week. They will also be sharing with us some other plans for the summer. Kevin will also be talking about plans for his two newest bands Caterpillar Club and Soap Scum.

Black Sheep Fest 2013 Details

bxsfest2Big things at Black Sheep are happening this summer and we are getting ready to announce the lineup and flier for Black Sheep Fest 2013 happening on Saturday, July 27th. We are very excited about the lineup this year and feel that this will be the biggest Black Sheep Fest we have had so far.

The lineup includes 18 bands local to Springfield. One of the spots is held for the winner of the Black Sheep Battle of the Bands. We might also get to see a reunion or two from some old Springfield bands?

The lineup will be posted along with the official flier at Dumb Fest at Black Sheep and Skank Skates on June 14th and 15th. The newly created facebook event can be found here. The fest will start at 1:00 pm and continue all day and night. Admission is $5. More shows coming up this summer can be seen on our shows page.
