Wow, look at that it’s already that time of year. The summer is pretty much here, Dumb Fest 2 is just one month away, and it’s time to talk about Black Sheep Fest 2014. Today we are announcing that Black Sheep Fest is happening on Saturday, July 26th this year. Now you can make sure you can schedule all of your family vacations and request off of work accordingly. This will be Black Sheep Fest number 6 for those of you keeping count. The first Black Sheep Fest was in 2008 and was three days long (it sounds like a big deal but it wasn’t that great). The lineup for this year’s Black Sheep Fest will be announced along with the official flier at Dumb Fest 2.

For some photos of last year’s Black Sheep Fest you can go right here to our Black Sheep Fest 2013 flickr group. If you can not wait for this summer fest to come any closer, that’s okay because Dumb Fest 2 is going to be just as fun and it is less than a month.

Our Lady will also be playing Dumb Fest 2 on June 13th. Other than that we have a couple of other touring acts from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One is Leaky Soups, a female-fronted emo group. They will be touring with Christopher Walking also from Philly. The show will open up with Wilt Candy, a new Springfield folk project.

This show will be at 7:00 pm and cost $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also check out our shows page for a look at everything coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Give Back To Mama Linda

1620990_10152444234814187_7369698647206203744_n

On this past Saturday night a big friend and supporter of the Black Sheep’s, Mama Linda and her family lost their home and possessions in an intense and unexpected house fire. The house was located in Lilly, Illinois and played a key role in housing bands during Cornerstone Music Festival as well as other times. Mama Linda also frequently provides food for bands at shows, including plenty of the food that Apryl brings to shows. Here’s a message from Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford:

Hello everyone, our prayers and hearts go out to our friend “Mamma” Linda Olsen. Linda has been a longtime supporter of Black Sheep and of many other bands and people throughout the years. Linda’s home and all of her possessions were lost in a fire that happened May 10th. Many do not realize that it is usually Linda that gives Apryl the food she uses and prepares for the wonderful meals she gives to our community. The Audiofeed Festival that we are a part of emerged from her generosity and love for all the motley wanderers who were hard up for food that she would dish out in abundance. There is a “Go Fund Me” that is open if you would feel so inclined to donate to. We will also be doing a benefit in late June for her as well. At Black Sheep we always have, and will look out for our own. Thanks everyone. -Kevin

You can find a link to the “Give Back To Mama Linda” fund right here. We will be back with more info later on about a benefit show happening in June.

If that’s not enough for you we also have sludgy hardcore band Swamp Rat.
