April 24th at Black Sheep and Dumb Records: Diaper Rash, Evan Mitchell, Falter, Daren Gratton, Leech Pit

Coming up in about one month on Friday, April 24th we will be hosting a show that is going to be back and forth between Dumb Records and Black Sheep- Dumb Fest-style. There are five acts playing- three will be inside Black Sheep and two will be inside Dumb Records. We will be alternating venues as bands go. Headlining the bill on the Black Sheep side we have the dirty baby-fronted hardcore/thrash band Diaper Rash. Then on the Dumb Records end of things we have Evan Mitchell, ringleader of the One Man Band Bonanza that took place earlier this month. Before that inside Black Sheep is our touring band, Falter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Falter have played here a number of times and you can stream some of their music below. Also from out of town (St. Louis) and playing on the Dumb Records stage is Daren Gratton of the band of the Haddonfields. Opening things up on the Black Sheep end of things is a brand new punk band called Leech Pit! Come early to find out who is in that new project.

Dumb Fest 3-D Announcement #4

Today we are bringing you yet another wave of bands being announced for Dumb Fest 3-D happening on June 12th and 13th in Southtown at Black Sheep, Dumb Records, Skank Skates, and South Town Studio. The announcements have been pouring in ever since the beginning of this month, and this isn’t even the last one! Let’s get into the new bands being announced:

Roundtable Meeting Tonight at Black Sheep

It has been a little WHILE since we have hosted a roundtable meeting to discuss things related to Black Sheep and the Southtown businesses. In light of Kevin’s big announcement this past week that he will be stepping down from Black Sheep later this spring, we are hosting a meeting and discussing more of the future of the venue and Southtown.

Everyone is welcome to come to this- we encourage all of you wanting to become more involved or wanting to help out to come out even if you don’t have anything to say. At the meeting we will be discussing plans to continue the venue and we will also be having a brainstorm session on ways we can improve. The meeting will be help at 7:00 pm inside Black Sheep. At some point we also plan on having a group trash pick-up around the neighborhood! Possibly come early if you are up to help out with that.

WARRS Recording In South Town Studio

Even though Kevin Bradford announced that he will be stepping down as owner of Black Sheep later this spring, he continues to remain active in bands creating music- and it looks like Kevin’s newest hardcore/screamo band WARRS is currently spending some times with Brandon Carnes of South Town Studio (pictured above). The band has announced they are recording for an upcoming release called Raw Sound.

WARRS does not have any Springfield shows currently lined up, but they will be playing at Error Records tomorrow night with other Springfield band Panzys. Check out more info on that show right here. We will be also sure to let you all know as soon as WARRS recordings are released.

WUIS: “The Screaming Females Will Rock In Springfield”

A few days ago Springfield college radio station WUIS (91.9 FM) released an interview Rachel Otwell conducted with Marissa Paternoster of Screaming Females. Screaming Females will be coming to Black Sheep and playing here this upcoming Wednesday, March 25th along with Shellshag, Looming, and Kowabunga! Kid. You can check out the full 20 minute-long interview right here, which includes Marissa talking about their new album Rose Mountain as well as how the band formed, and how they feel about playing Springfield.

Tickets for the Wednesday, March 25th show featuring Screaming Females are still on sale for $10 online right here. The cutoff for preorders is 8:00 pm on Tuesday night. You can also still pay $12 at the door for this show the day of. Check out a facebook event for the show right here.

May 9th At Black Sheep: Abyss, The Science Of, Fill In The Blank, 8th Street Ahead

16720179831_cf492b20fb_oComing up in a few months on Saturday, May 9th at Black Sheep we have another all-local rock gig featuring four rock bands from the area. This includes the heavy rock band Abyss, which you can find one of their teaser videos embedded below. We also have pop punk/alternative band The Science Of, who have not played at Black Sheep in quite some time – looks like since last August. Also on the bill is the pop punk band Fill In The Blank from the Central Illinois area. And last but not least we have a band called “8th Street Ahead” also playing.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. There isn’t a facebook event for this one, but you can still check out our shows page for a complete look at all of our shows scheduled at Black Sheep coming up.

April 10th at Black Sheep: Hospital Job, Say Something, Like… With Jetpacks, Paqui

This includes the pop punk band Hospital Job, who put out their second LP The Believer on It’s Alive! Records last year. You can find that album streaming below. Then we have the hectic punk band Say Something also on the bill, bringing a whirlwind of circle pits. Before them is the instrumental video game-themed band, Like… With Jetpacks. They will melt your faces. Opening things up is a set by the solo/acoustic act Paqui!

Tonight at Black Sheep: The Bad Guy, Wicked Sweet, Trizzle, AK47, G High, We Back Soon

This weekend there is only one show happening at Black Sheep and that is a hip hop show happening tonight! This time around the show is a part of a “March Maddness Tour” being put on by Gift Of Gabb Entertainment. Acts playing include The Bad Guy, Wicked Sweet, Trizzle, AK47, and G High. There will also be an appearance and performance by We Back Soon Music Group.

Videos: Panzys – “Tractor” at Black Sheep 3-13-15

Today we bring you a video of Springfield band Panzys performing their song “Tractor” at The Black Sheep last weekend on Friday, March 13th along with The Historians, Bad Banshee, Fel Fae, and Arcade At Midnight. At some point during the show, there was an unexpected pillow fight that broke out in the crowd. The pillow fight lead to thousands of pounds of feathers being released into the crowd and all of the Panzys’s fans were left swimming in feathers (pictured above). Check out the full video plus some extra bonus footage below. The Panzys are also currently finishing up recording for a second release.

March 27th at Black Sheep: Better Friend, C Is For Cadaver, Honey/Suck, The Incorporated

In less than ten days, on Friday, March 27th we have a show to announce that is coming up QUICK here at Black Sheep that will feature a nice mix of indie rock, acoustic, and spoken word among other things. For this show we have the Lincoln, Nebraska alternative rock group Better Friend coming to perform (pictured above). You can check out some of Better Friend’s music streaming below. Also on this show is acoustic solo act called C Is For Cadaver featuring one member of The Incorporated. Speaking of The Incorporated, the Litchfield-based rock group will also be playing this show! To top all of that off we have a set from Springfield spoken word act called Honey/Suck.
