April 23rd at Black Sheep: Staghorn, Caterpillar Club, Drained, Orator

Remember the band Caterpillar Club? Well we barely do! Looks like the band which features former Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford along with members of Our Lady will be playing again at Black Sheep on Saturday, April 23rd after over a year since they played their last show here. And even better news is that for this show it looks like they will have a new cassette of unreleased material! This show will also feature a touring band and that is Staghorn from St. Louis. Stream some of their music on the player below. In addition to those bands, we also have a couple more from nearby. We have the emo / melodic hardcore band Drained from Central Illinois. And opening things up we have the incredibly heavy band Orator from Champaign/Urbana.

April 12th at Black Sheep: Free Kittens & Bread, Nectar, Fill In The Blank, Starlorde

Yes, the April show announcements are still rolling in hard! This one is happening on Tuesday, April 12th at Black Sheep. This show will feature the band Free Kittens & Bread from Austin, Texas (pictured above). You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. Also on this show we have everyone’s favorite Champaign/Urbana alternative ice cream pop band Nectar! Then we have a couple acts local to Springfield. The first of which is pop punk goodness Fill In The Blank! And then opening things up we have the second ever show for Springfield’s newest space-themed hardcore super villain band called “Starlorde.”

March 26th at South Town Studio: Pillars of Ash, Apostate, AuÞumblusurt, Gazeebo

There is a show coming up at South Town Studio coming up in exactly one week on Saturday, March 26th. There is a chance that this will be one of the last shows up in the studio before Brandon Carnes moves away, so be sure to come check it out! This show will also be happening right after the art show happening at Black Sheep from 5:00 to 7:00 pm that night at Black Sheep. For this show we have a couple of noise projects coming down from Michigan. The first of those is Pillars of Ash playing some black metal from Grand Rapids. Stream some music from them on the player below. They will be coming with Apostate also from Michigan. Then we have local act AuÞumblusurt bringing the industrial noise electronics. And opening things up we have a rare noise set from local solo artist Gazeebo.

Tonight at Black Sheep: The Bug, Pryss, Livin’ Thing, Moondead

Wow, a spectacular punk show will be happening at Black Sheep tonight. It will sure to be very loud and very fast. For this show we have Chicago-based hardcore band The Bug coming through for the first time since they played here at Dumb Fest 3-D. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below for those of you unfamiliar. Aside from The Bug, we have a good handful of Springfield bands all of which have started this year. We have the new Ooey Gooey hardcore band, Pryss, who dropped their new hit demo late last month. We also have the rock n’ roll hardcore fusion band Livin’ Thing, who also released their demo online just a couple weeks ago. Opening things up is the three-piece weirdo punk band, Moondead.

April 13th at Black Sheep: Violence Creeps, Livin’ Thing, Pryss

Time for another April show announcement! This one is happening on Wednesday, April 13th and it will be a rocker. We have the band Violence Creeps coming all the way from Oakland, California for this one. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. How neat. Also Livin’ Thing will be playing this show, we hear it will be the release show for their debut cassette and they will be kicking off a little 5-day tour. Opening things up for now is Springfield hardcore band Pryss, keep your eyes peeled for a possible fourth band added to the lineup!

Say Something: “Red & White”

Springfield circle-pit punk band Say Something recently dropped a hot new track that hopefully means there are more to come. The song is called “Red & White” and you can stream it on the player embedded below, or head over to the Say Something bandcamp page where you can download it at your own price. The song was recorded in South Town Studio, where the band also recorded more songs for an upcoming release that we will hopefully get to hear sometime in the near future.

Say Something do not currently have any shows lined up in Springfield.

 

Tonight at Black Sheep: Our Lady, Lume, Krelboyne, Hate Your Friends

We have a show happening tonight!! It’s going to be a good one, and we are welcoming Our Lady back from SXSW, which they ended up making to because their GoFundMe campaign was a success! If you haven’t already, check out Our Lady’s new song right here. This time around Our Lady will be coming with a band called Lume from Chicago (not to be confused with Looming who will be playing Black Sheep next weekend on March 27th). Check out Lume’s music on the player streaming below. Also on this show is Champaign/Urbana emo rockers in Krelboyne. We also have another touring band on the bill and that is Hate Your Friends from Denton, Texas. We are excited to have them.

April 9th at Black Sheep: Wir Können, The American Jobs, TANG, Paqui

Like we said earlier, the April show announcements are going to start rolling in pretty hard! Tonight we have an announcement for a show happening here on Saturday, April 9th. For this show we have local emo band Wir Können headlining the bill. The touring band on the bill is called The American Jobs. You can stream some of their music below, they come from Columbus, Ohio. Also on this show we have the avant-guard explosion noise band known as TANG. And opening things up we have a solo acoustic set of Paqui, who also plays in TANG. DANG.

SOHO Music Festival Lineup Announced For June 3rd and 4th + Black Sheep Stage

It looks like downtown music festival SOHO have announced the lineup for SOHO 12 happening Friday and Saturday June 3rd and 4th in downtown Springfield. Last year was the festival’s first year having Black Sheep involved with our own side stage, and they are going to continue that on the second day of the festival again this year! Dumb Records will also likely have a booth set up just like last year. There are 62 bands total playing the festival, which is also only $5 for admission, which goes to various charities. The Black Sheep stage will have seven acts, and here is the schedule for that:

2:30-3:00 = London has Fallen (Peoria, IL)
4:00-4:30 = Jayy Wills & SOHI (Springfield, IL)

7:00-7:30 = Los Injectors (Springfield, IL)
8:30-9:00 = Red Letter Merchant (Springfield, IL)
10:00-10:30 = Wir Können (Springfield, IL)

The Studio Show Episode 7 Featuring SAP and Shatriya Smith

Our friends and new hit Springfield TV Show, The Studio Show are already to their seventh episode being aired, which dropped online yesterday. This episode features familiar Black Sheep band SAP (pictured above) as well as local poet Shatriya Smith. You can check out the new episode which is close to 30 minutes in length on the player below, or head over here to watch it on Youtube. The episode also features plenty of silly clips and bits that you will love.
