10/9 at Black Sheep: Run, Forever, Hospital Job, Our Lady, Lovecow

We are very excited to announce a real great show in October. It features the Pennsylvanian heart felt punk rockers Run, Forever. The show also features three equally heart felt bands: Hospital Job, Our Lady, Lovecow. This will be the perfect start to an awesome month.

David Liebe Hart’s WMAY Interview Pt. 2

As we said in our last update, we would be filling you in once the second part of the interview went live. Greg Bishop on Saturday Session does not disappoint in this second part. This time Greg and David Liebe Hart discuss politics, street music, and “Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!”.

Black Sheep Tonight: Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship, And God Said Dance, Lovecow

Tonight we have our first show since we have started making some changes to the inside of our venue.  Come out and dance!  Coming from the St. Louis area is the return of Super Fun Yeah Yeah Rocketship, which is now a two-person project.  Then we also have the return of And God Said Dance, having their first performance since Black Sheep Fest 2011.  And then there is the all-new, all-acoustic Lovecow playing great folk punk.  The show will start at 7:00 pm and is $5.  Be sure to check out our other upcoming shows here.

Updates on David Liebe Hart Show

Wow!  Michael Reisinger aka Mike Tirehaus has came up with an awesome poster/flier for the David Liebe Hart show happening September 28th along with bands Dino Bravo and Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi at Black Sheep.  Feel free to print that out and hand it to your friends. We also thought we would remind you all that this show is happening in SEPTEMBER and not August.

We have also been informed that David Leibe Hart has been interviewed about his upcoming show in Springfield.  Greg Bishop:

I just got off the phone with David Liebe Hart (Official). We talked about the difference between panhandlers and street performers, racism in organized religion, his time in Illinois and his music! You can see David Liebe Hart and Adam Papagan perform live at Black Sheep Cafe … and yes, David said he will have some of his puppets at the show!

Black Sheep Tonight: Battalion, Vengeance, Elyse

Today marks the first day of our busy month of September and there sure is a lot going on!  First is the southtown art bazaar, which starts at 2:00 pm and goes until 11:00 pm.  Come out to that to catch some art, music and more.  Then we have a metal show at 7:00 pm featuring Battalion, Vengeance, and Elyse.  Intricate Collapse had to drop the show due to a family emergency.  The art bazaar is free to attend, and the Black Sheep show is $5.  Also happening tonight is a basement show featuring other Springfield local bands including Hospital Job, Our Lady, boon, and Nephrons.  What a busy night!  You can check out other upcoming shows on our shows page.

Tomorrow night we also have another roundtable meeting at 7:00 pm.  This meeting with be specifically about plans for a new stage inside our venue.  Everyone is encouraged to come.

9/1 at Black Sheep: Battalion, Vengeance, Elyse, Intricate Collapse

Black Sheep Tonight: Herbivore, End Times Trio

Tonight we are hosting our first jazz show at Black Sheep!  End Times Trio will be playing featuring the jazz master Frank Trompeter and also Ben Jacob on violin.  Then we have Herbivore from Chicago, which features Max Beckman originally from Springfield.  It is sure to be a fun night.  The show starts at 7:00 pm and is $5.  You can find a facebook event here, and also be sure to check out our other upcoming shows on our shows page.

Two New September Shows at Black Sheep Added!

Two new September shows have been added!  The first is a show on Sunday, September 16th.  This time Chicago punks The Please & Thank Yous are teaming up with Illinois indie pop band Easter and coming to Black Sheep the day after they play Never Forgot Fest in Bloomington.  Locals Our Lady and Intricate Collapse are joining them for an all around fun time.  The show is at 7:00 pm and is five dollars.

Happening the night before on September 15th we are having an all local back to school show!  This show features pop-punkers Up In Arms and Kickstart, and also post-rock band Nathan & The Sheep.  The show is at 7:00 pm and is five dollars.  You can find a facebook event here.  You can also check out more of our upcoming shows on our shows page.

Last Minute Show Tonight at Black Sheep!

Last night we all had a great time at the last show of the summer and guess what?  Tonight there is a last minute show and it is going to be the first show of the new school year!! (At least for some of you students out there.)

This show is very last minute and full of surprises.  We have hardcore/metal act Cove on tour all the way from Nashville Tennessee.  AND new three-piece emo project from members of Our Lady and Mother Leopard, Foxtail are playing their first ever show.  Come see them and wish them luck on their upcoming week-long tour!  Then we have Brandon Carnes (who just released a new EP) and also Kirk Donely of The Transatlantic doing some acoustic sets.  The show starts at seven and is $3-5 “sliding scale” according to the facebook event.  Also be sure to check out our other upcoming shows here.
