Tonight at Dumb Records: Snuffed, Bull Cult, War And Rumor, Hemlock

Tonight! Happy rainy Sunday. We’ve got another show going on tonight – don’t worry, it’s only four bands this time.

For this show we have four bands. At the top of the bill is “Snuffed” – a hardcore band from Chicago we have been told is “nasty.” Stream the music on the player below to hear just now nasty they really are. Also on this show is Peoria veteran hardcore rockers in Bull Cult! Some of them over there helped open up a new venue in Peoria called the Hot Box. There is also a NEW band from Jacksonville on this bill playing some metal music called “War And Rumor.” Then there is also a NEW band from right here in Springfield playing hardcore music called “Hemlock”!

Tonight at Dumb Records: Constraint, Discourage, Flash Back, Gate To Hell, Prevention, Direct Measure

Tonight! We’ve got a show. It’s a Wednesday weeknight but we’ve got a six band hardcore show lined up, so we’ve got a long night ahead of us.

This one features heavy hitting Louisville, Kentucky hardcore band “Constraint.” You can stream their latest album Nerf Planet embedded on the player below. Looks like Constraint is going to be touring with Discourage coming all the way from California (and also playing hardcore music)! Ope, looks like we have another Louisville band and that is “Gates To Hell.” There’s even a band from Canada on here called Flash Back??? We have bands coming in every direction for this show! Of course we also have Prevention on the bill – and one update to the show since it was originally announced at that is opening things up looks like we have Direct Measure from the St. Louis area! Or wait… is it Penalty Box opening things up after all? Which band is it?

Tonight at Dumb Records: Sidestep, Stick People, Black Box

It’s a Thursday, and we will be hosting a nice three-band show inside of our venue tonight! This one features some rock music that will be a little bit of something for everybody. It should be a nice time! Tonight we’ve got the group Sidestep coming from Louisville, Kentucky! You can stream some of Sidestep’s new music on the player below. There are also a couple of local heavy-hitting greats that have not performed here since before the pandemic, however long ago that was now. That includes Taylorville 90’s sounding alternative rock group Stick People, and also very fast and outta-control hardcore band from right here in Springfield, Black Box.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Grey Slush, The Telephone Junkies, Hushpad

Yes. There IS a show happening at Dumb Records tonight! It’s a three-band show! The bands are more in the alternative and indie-rock directions! Maybe even some shoegaze music! For this show we have “Grey Slush” – Grey Slush is an indie rock group from Peoria Illinois! You can stream their debut EP on the player embedded below. For this show we also have the return of The Telephone Junkies! Telephone Junkies put out an album last year and it’s great. Looks like opening things up we have the Lincoln, Illinois-based shoegaze project Hushpad. What an all around nice time.

And for this show following suite with health guidelines, state mandates, and all of that fun stuff – masks are required at this show and we are once again checking for proof of vaccine at the door! We will also accept negative covid test results within the last 72 hours.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Blind To Life, Split, Prevention

Guess what? We’ve got another show tonight – our third one back inside our space since our return since this dreadful pandemic (which is still lingering on in our world). Tonight is just a short and sweet three-band Monday night show.

Tonight the show just features one touring act and that is “Bliind To Life.” They are from Colorado Springs, Colorado and you can stream their newest two-song release on the player embedded below. We also have the band “Split’ coming from St. Louis. This was a very hard band to find on the internet, but we finally found them and their music is online right here. Prevention (from here in Springfield) is playing as well, we are not sure if Prevention is opening, closing the show, or playing right in the middle, so you better be there for all of it!

Tonight at Dumb Records: End It, Shackled, Bitter Truth, Prevention, Barosa

Saturday night here at Dumb Records seemed to be a successful first show back for us with Bottom Bracket, Attic Salt, and Tilt Warning! We are ready to do this again, this time maybe with heavier bands!

Once again, before we get into the bands for tonight, let’s go over our updated policies regarding attendees and COVID-19:

  • All show attendees will be required to provide proof of at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine or negative COVID test within the last 72 hoursmasks are required at these events for all attendees.
  • Masks are required at these events for all attendees.

Okay, for this show, we’ve got… the band END IT from Baltimore, Maryland on tour. You can check out a short song of theirs streaming on the player below. End It will be on tour with Shackled from Howell, New Jersey. Both of them are heavy hardcore bands. Then coming from a different direction of the country is Bitter Truth from Grand Rapids, Michigan! In the middle of all of this we do have the EP release show for local hardcore band Prevention! You know, the four song EP they released earlier this month. Opening things up is a band called Barosa. They might loosely be based out of Decatur, IL.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Bottom Bracket, Attic Salt, Tilt Warning

Oh boy! It feels like forever since we’ve made one of these posts… TONIGHT – it looks like we have a show happening at Dumb Records for the first time in 1.5 years. We have a new stage. We have a new arcade. It’s going to be the first time we’ve gotten to use both of those for a show.

Before we get into the bands for tonight, let’s go over our updated policies regarding attendees and COVID-19:

Okay, now that we’ve got that out of the way here’s who’s playing tonight: we’ve got… Bottom Bracket who put out their full length album I Don’t Care Enough To Stay right at the start of the pandemic. We’ve got Attic Salt, who also put out an album, Get Wise right in the middle of the pandemic. AND we’ve got a brand new band called “Tilt Warning” that formed during the pandemic.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Blushe (EP Release), Attic Salt, The Dry Look, Ricki Marvel, Dexter Anodyne

Just look at it outside right now. The annual downtown St. Patrick’s Day parade has been cancelled today, but our store is still open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and we still have this show going on at our space tonight. Definitely come only if you are feeling up for it, wash your hands, etc. Tonight is the big EP release show for local band Blushe! Blushe have been playing shows for well over a year now, and their first recordings have been long anticipated. For this show we welcome garage punk band The Dry Look back from Champaign. It sure has been a minute since they last performed here, perhaps at Black Sheep. Stream some of their music on the player embedded below. Also Attic Salt is performing, a band everyone knows and loves. Before them is Dexter Anodyne performing another solo show. Looks like opening things up is the electronic synth act also with a new album, Ricki Marvel.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Maddie Razook, Baby Ocho, Clare Frachey, Star Stuff

Happy Thursday everybody! These certainly are crazy times, but the shows here aren’t stoppin’ and tonight we’ve got another “Jeff presents…” show. You know, Jeff. The Jeff. This show features touring solo indie/pop artist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Maddie Razook. Stream Maddie’s newest album on the player below. Then we’ve got an interesting lineup of local acts. Baby Ocho is one of those – who has recently performed a few shows solo around town, but we here this is going to be the first ever Springfield performance as a full band project. Before that is lo-and-behold, Clare Frachey formerly of the bands SAP, JAG, etc. we used to see a lot of in the Black Sheep days. The one other local act on the bill is rock group Star Stuff! That’s it.

Tonight is gonna be a stinger of a gig. This one is going to be a tour kickoff for the bands Prevention and their Tennessee-based friends, Gumm who have played here at least once before. Nice. Stream some of Gumm’s music on the player below. You already know what Prevention sounds like. Also on this show is “Direct Measure” who used to be called… Brute Force. They have played here a bunch too, but you wouldn’t know it looking at the flier because they changed their name. Also on this show is the mighty Bull Cult from Galesburg, playing here for the second time ever. Black Box from Springfield is going to be opening things up with their wild & crazy hardcore music.
