Oops, we have another Thursday night show in the works! This one is happening at 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 1st. It’s actually the same night as the last Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series event featuring John Moreland, which is why we are starting things later here at 8:00 pm. It’s just a three band show, highly recommended. We have two touring acts from Minnesota. The first of which is “Greentop” playing some indie/alternative music that you can find streaming on the player below. Greentop will be touring with solo act Wyatt Moran who is also from Rochester, Minnesota. Then of course there’s Bottom Bracket, who will be going either first or last on the lineup, we are not sure.

Again, this show starts at 8:00 pm that night and admission is $6. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Bread Sheep in the near future!!

Good evening! We have a nice show to tell you about tonight. It is happening on Saturday, July 13th and will be a nice country / pyschedelic / folk show. It features touring artist Tim Buchanan – who was actually a member of Oklahoma hardcore band American Hate who had played Black Sheep a few times. Tim’s solo material is nothing like American Hate, and you can stream it on the player below. Also on this show is psychedelic rock group “The Dixie Narcos” from Jacksonville, that rarely ever play live. What a treat to have them on. Then also there is a newer group from some town we know nothing about called Canton, Illinois. The band is “Father Talljasper” and they also play some psychedelic / indie rock stuff. Opening things up is local solo acoustic artist Adam Maletich.

Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Admission is $6.00 this time around and things kick off at 7:00 pm. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Bread Sheep.

This one we have to tell you about is on Friday, July 12th. It’s a nice show. This show features full band “Kate The Band” – you know it’s good based on these two songs we streamed on our site this past week. The touring act on this bill is “Best Sleep” from Fort Wayne, Indiana. You can stream their music on the player embedded below. Then we have the first “Bread Sheep” performance of Peoria and Springfield based emo band Sadface Killer. They are a good band and released their debut full length album Domino Line earlier this year. Opening things up is the local solo project – Flunkie.

Does this thing work? Does it hurt your eyes or is it cool? Good. Whoops, we are way late in the game of letting you know that we are planning a show in the space next to us for the Fourth of July this year. (We are downtown right where the fireworks are happening, why not)! For this show we have the band Skeleton from somewhere Texas making a return to Springfield for the first time since a New Years Eve House Show in the year… 2014/2015 or something. Stream their music on the player below to hear how much they’ve grown. Also on this show is that new heavy surf band “Snuff Rider” that will be playing their first show here on the 22nd of this month. Opening things up is a special patriotic fourth of July performance from the band Uncle Sam’s Mutagenic Children.

All of that starts later… we are saying after the fireworks, which we think are at 9:00 pm. Everyone’s going to be downton as it is, right? Admission is $5 for the touring act. Find a facebook event for this one soon. Check out our Bread Sheep upcoming shows page for a look at what else is coming up soon.

It’s time to move on with some July show announcements for shows happening at the new Bread Sheep Café located right next to us. This one is happening Thursday, July 18th. It’s the same night as a Levitt show, so the start time is pushed back a little later to 8:00 pm. For this show we have the return of heavy heavy band Transgression from Kentucky to Springfield. They performed here last about one year ago exactly for the last Dumb Fest. Stream their brand new album on the player below. This show is actually going to be the tape release show for new local band Prevention – we brought you those recordings on our site a few days ago. Also on tour and continuing with the heavy music is “156/Silence” from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Then we have a band called “Gumm” described as “melodic punk” from Tennessee. Are all three of those bands touring together or what? Opening things up is a fifth act and that is the return of popular local goof-off fart bomb band Prowess.

This show starts at 8:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at The Bread Sheep in coming months.

We have another slammer of a show to tell you about happening at Bread Sheep Records on Saturday, July 6th. It’s a slammer, but it’s a pretty nice and diverse bill as well. We have the mighty return of the mighty might band Jocko from Ohmaha, Nebraska. Jocko played here last at Black Sheep the first night of Dumb Fest 6 for those of you who were around for that… exactly one year ago! Stream some of Jocko’s music on the player below if you are unfamiliar. Also on this show is today’s featured band: Final Order. Right in the middle we have a curveball and that is local hip hop act Animals With Human Names, playing his first show at Bread Stretchers 2.0. Then we’ve got St. Louis area hardcore group Brute Force coming back to play the Bread Stretch for yet another time. Opening things up is another little curveball with the *chill* solo project of Vincent Sebastian.

All of this starts at 7:00 pm that day and it’s $7 to get in to see five acts. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else we’ve got coming up at Beard Strappers in the near future.

This one is going to feature the one and only… full band performance of Looming (the first full band performance we have seen in Springfield in a minute). Wow! There are two touring acts from Michigan on this show. One of them is Great Expectations from Detroit, playing some emo type music that you can find on the player below. They will be on tour with another band called Seaholm from Ann Arbor. Opening this show up is a slow performance by Blue Parks, who may be going by the performance name of Body Forth.

This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is going to be a sliding scale of $5-10. You can check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at the show space next to us.

Look at this whopper of a show we have to tell you about today. It’s going to be a good one, happening later this month on Friday, June 28th. This is going to be the LP release (yes, a vinyl record) of local group Local Drags who have not performed in Springfield very often if even at all. It’s good though – someone is pressing their album on to wax so it’s gotta be good. Stream it again on that player below. This show is also going to be good because it’s got heavy hitters Bottom Bracket on board. And we’ve also got a rare Attic Salt performance – another band who has yet to play in the new space. Opening things up is the first show of a new Taylorville duo going by the name “Farm Shack”! We’re going to find out what that is all about.

This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretch Record Sheep’s shows page for a look at what is coming up in this space next door to us that we don’t have anything to do with.

Wow! Looks like we are hosting a show this month that will be a wonderful celebration of one full year of Activator Magazine doing their thing and activatin’ in Springfield!! We are truly lucky to have had this free magazine around for a full year covering some great things going on in Central Illinois music and arts! The lineup for this show features punk rockers MAC at the top of the bill – who will be performing here in Springfield for the first time actually! Nice! By the way look at that great flier by Carol Weems of Activator Magazine, great job Carol. Who’s next on the lineup? HECK?!? The solo project of Hannah Songer out of Bloomington. Also a brand new Springfield band called SNUFF RIDER will be playing their first show?? Featuring members of Imaginary Colours and Evan Mitchell’s one man band! Before that… a very rare rap performance by Aaron “Uncanny” Phillips!! Wow!! In all of our years working with Aaron hosting hip hop shows at our spaces we have never had him listed as a performer! Then opening things up or playing somewhere on the bill is some sort of karaoke set by DJ Milk and DJ Jess!!! We can not believe all of the wild and cool things going on for this show!

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. All proceeds will be split between our show space and Activator Magazine. There will also be cake and “free sh*t”! Wow!
