January 13th at Dumb Records: Final Order, Dead Hour Noise, Portals, Gargantuan

Time for us to catch up on all of our show announcements for this year! This one is coming up on Monday, January 13th at our space! It features hardcore/metal group from Lansing, Michigan called “Dead Hour Noise.” Stream one track from their upcoming album on the player below. For this show we get local hardcore band Final Order at the top of the bill closing out the night. The one other out of town band is Portals, the Central Illinois metal/deathcore group. And ahhhh, opening up we have the second gig ever for the new solo black metal project from here that everyone has been talking about Gargantuan.

January 5th at Dumb Records: Black Box, Judy & The Jerks, Bigg Band, Fornicators, Oh Gosh!

Ouch, this one is real late for a show getting announced. It is our FIRST show happening in the year 2020, on Sunday, January 5th! This one features a stacked lineup, two touring bands from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. One of those includes Judy & The Jerks – who played at Dumb Fest 5 in 2017 for any of you that can remember back that far. Stream Judy & The Jerks’ newest release on the player below. They will be on tour with a project called “Bigg Band” which we have been told is actually a really big band. Oh, and also we should mention that we have Springfield fast hardcore band Black Box on the bill. Also on the bill is a brand new St. Louis band featuring members of Mala Leche and Lumpy & The Dumpers called “Fornicators.” Opening things up is the second show ever for new Springfield band “Oh Gosh.”

December 28th at Dumb Records: Hip Hop Humpday Presents Springfield Community Broadcasters Benefit

Oh, you thought we were done announcing our shows for this year?! No, we still have a couple left, we are just letting you know really last minute on these! This one is happening on Saturday, December 28th at our space. It’s going to be yet another benefit for Springfield Community Broadcasters in their mission to get programming formerly on 88. 3 WQNA back on the air. And this one is being put together by Hip Hop Humpday, which used to be on for three hours every Wednesday afternoon. This show features a stacked lineup of some of the biggest hitting hip hop acts. This includes Kid Ziggy & Papa Luke of Zippir Collective, a duo that packed the house the last time they performed at our most recent hip hop show. Also Meezy Killafield is on the show and ready to show us all that he means business. We have the return of Junior Pasáre, and Cornbread to our space! Also the fantastic duo of Deezy Da Paperboy and Alexa Redd will be doing a special set. Big Homie Hom is the one other act that we have not had on a show here yet! Oh wait, there might be another opener right at 7:30 pm and that is Gambinoo Indacut, a young up and coming artist.

January 8th at Dumb Records: Sinai Vessel, Advance Base, Kate The Band, Marble Teeth, Alyssa Currie

Are you all ready to hear the first show announcement for a show taking place in the year of the future: 2020. Maybe not the first show of 2020, but this is the first show of that year we are announcing. This one is taking place on Wednesday, January 8th. This show featuring touring band Sinai Vessel from Chattanooga, Tennessee. That band played at Black Sheep TWICE before – once in 2014 and again in 2017. Now they are playing here in the future year of 2020. So they play here every three years. Stream their music on the player below. This time around Sinai Vessel is on tour with “Advance Base” who is a guy. Also on the bill is Kate The Band, the real deal. Also is Marble Teeth, the solo project from Decatur, and opening things up is Alice Currie of the band Attic Salt!

December 15th at Dumb Records: Black Box (Tape Release), Blushe, Freon, Prevention

Here’s a pretty fun show we have to announce to you today! This one is happening on Sunday, December 15th. It is the big cassette tape release show for local hardcore band Black Box. The Black Box demo – “What Happens Inside” is already up streaming online, which you can check out on the player below. Also on this show is local Springfield/Bloomington band Blushe. Also coming up from St. Louis is… a newer group called “Freon”! Opening things up… looks like we’ve got another Prevention!

December 13th at Dumb Records: Benefit Show For Springfield Community Broadcasters (WQNA DJs)

Are you ready to hear about an important show lined up? Of course yesterday we told you about how the plug was pulled on WQNA 88.3 fm community radio as we know it, however fundraising will continue. Well, there is a benefit event going on TONIGHT at Buzz Bomb Brewery, so get on over to that (more info right here). Then on Friday, December 13th we have our own benefit show happening at Dumb Records to go towards the cause of continuing community radio in Springfield! Proceeds will be going to Springfield Community Broadcasters.

Who do we got playing? Epsom is at the top of the bill, a band we all know is going to rock. The newer local duo that is grade-A quality music, Idle Oath will be playing as well. Idle Oath features Mark Beanblossom who was a DJ on Thursday evenings on 88.3 WQNA. Stream some of their music on the player below. We also have Snuff Rider lined up… instrumental heavy surf band… but guess what, they have changed their name to SONIC MAXIMIZER. We can hardly handle that new name, sorry the flier above isn’t updated. Opening things up is Arlin Peebles and Erin Steinhauer! A duo that you all know and love from The Studio show.

December 7th at Dumb Records: Best Sleep, Bottom Bracket, Us, Zach Goriszewski

Greetings! Here is a show happening here in exactly one month for us to tell you about today. This is happening on Saturday, December 7th. We have the band “Best Sleep” returning from Indiana. Best Sleep last played… actually right here at Dumb Records back in June. The first touring band to come back to our new space a second time around?? Stream some of their music on the player below. We also have Bottom Bracket, we hear this time around with a brand new lineup?? Also on this show is a newer Central Illinois group called “Us” (wasn’t there a movie of that same title recently out)? Up before that is “Layers” – the spoken word / musical duo featuring members of Good Heart Tattoos right next door to us. Opening things up is Zach Goriszewski formerly of the band Kickstart.

November 25th at Dumb Records: Livid, Arachnid, Final Order, Gargantuan

It’s cold outside, and that means it’s going to keep getting colder outside, and now it’s time for us to announce more shows that are going to happen when it’s cold outside. This one is going to happen on Monday, November 25th. It features LIVID from Kenosha, Wisconsin making a return to Springfield and playing at our new space for the first time! We welcome them here again. Arachnid is the other touring band on the bill and they are from Fargo, North Dakota. You can stream some of Arachnid’s music on the player below. Both of these will be joined by locals including hardcore group Final Order. Opening things up is the first ever performance of the dark and mysterious brand new Springfield lack metal project called Gargantuan!!

November 17th at Dumb Records: Nightcrawler, Star Stuff, Blushe, Vera Devorah, Ella Gibson

On Sunday, November 17th – we got a show! There’s a lot going on for this one, including two touring acts. This includes Nightcrawler from the Chicago area – playing some real smooth emo music, with a new hit record coming out on Rat King Records very soon. Stream that new hit single on the player below. The other touring act on the bill is a solo act called “Vera Devorah” from Lincoln, Nebraska. As far as locals go, we’ve got local rock group Star Stuff on the bill. We’ve also got Blushe. Opening up this show is actually a 13 year old singer songwriter we are really happy to welcome to perform at our space! That is Ella Gibson!

November 23rd at Dumb Records: Neak, Kid Ziggy & Papa Luke, Otto San, OG Spinner, Dizzy Vibez, Zach Moad & Young Frost

Are y’all ready to hear about the next hip hop show we have lined up at Dumb Records on Saturday, November 23rd?? Let’s make some noise and have a good time. This one is the first hip hop show we have done at the new space featuring a touring act! That is hip hop / jazz artist “Neak” from Chicago! Stream some of Neak’s music on the player below! Other than Neak, this bill features a very stacked lineup of some of the best local artists. This includes the duo Kid Ziggy and Papa Luke, who have been making a splash in the local hip hop scene (featured on the cover of last month’s Activator). Also featured on the cover of last month’s Activator and performing this show… is Otto San! If that’s not enough for you, check out OG Spinner who is also playing this show. Before that it’s time to get dizzy with Dizzy Vibez, from right here in the capitol city. Oh wait! We’ve got one more duo opening things up and that is Zach Moad and Young Frost of Vision Glory Entertainment!
