July 30th at Black Sheep: Until We Are Ghosts, Threads, Warrs, Vacant Skies, Nick Harlow

We’ve got a really big hardcore show coming to the Black Sheep Thursday July 30th. Melodic hardcore band Until We Are Ghosts from Rochester, NY and screamo band Threads from Martinsburg, West Virginia are bringing their high energy tour to the Black Sheep stage. Also on board, fresh off of Black Sheep Fest, will be Springfield hardcore band WARRS featuring Black Sheep founder Kevin Bradford.

July 27th at South Town Studio: F///\\\M, Kevin Greenspon, Borealis

One week from today on Monday, July 20th, South Town Studio will be hosting another studio show. This one is a three band show featuring some post rock and ambient music. We have the solo project of Brandon Carnes who also runs the studio, called “F///\\\M.” Come check that out if you missed his performance at Black Sheep this past Friday. Then on tour from the West Coast is Kevin Greenspon, who has played here at Black Sheep before back in December of 2013. We have one of Kevin’s videos embedded below. The third and final act on this show is Borealis, the solo project of Mario Cannamela also of bands Wir Können and Soap Scum. It has been a while since we have seen a live Borealis set in Southtown.

August 21st at Black Sheep: Mr. Clit And The Pink Cigarettes, Cadenaxo, SAP, boon

Today we have a show announcement for a show that is happening on Friday, August 21st at Black Sheep. This will be our first show featuring a band from outside of the country in a short while, and we know that those shows are usually extra fun and exciting! This show will feature the band Mr. Clit & The Pink Cigarettes from Indianapolis, Indiana. You can stream some of their tunes on the player below. The international band we have coming is the hardcore band Cadenaxo from Mexico City, Mexico! Try not to miss either of those bands! Then we have a couple of local bands. We have the alternative indie grunge band SAP, and also the experimental punk band boon.

Derider, F///\\\M Added To Show Friday at Black Sheep

We have a weekend full of shows quickly approaching at Black Sheep- with shows this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The show Friday was originally announced as featuring bands Estates and Our Lady, and we now have two more additions to the show since it was originally announced. Those bands include a touring band, Derider, from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. You can stream some of Derider’s music on the player below. They play post-rock/shoegaze. Also added to the show is one more local act, F///\\\\M, which will be opening the gig. The show still also includes Estates from Milwaukee, and Our Lady from right here in Springfield.

August 3rd at Black Sheep: Dark Thoughts, Kowabunga! Kid, King Worm

darkthoughtsflier1webHere’s a nice three-band Monday night show coming up in August! This one is happening on Monday, August 3rd and it will for all of the rockers out there. For this show we have Dark Thoughts coming from Philadelphia. Dark Thoughts features Jim Shomo of The Holidays and Bad Side- bands who have played Black Sheep multiple times in the past. Stream some of Dark Thoughts’s music below. Also on this show we have your favorite Champaign/Urbana group, Kowabunga! Kid. Then to complete the show we have the nasty local hardcore punk band, King Worm.

July 18th at Black Sheep: Big Baby’s Night Out

11731582_10153420133790619_629187197946597945_oWe have an event coming up at Black Sheep in just less than ten days on Saturday, July 18th. This show is being called “Big Baby’s Night Out” hosted by none other than “Big Baby” of the hit punk/thrash band Diaper Rash. This show is going to be more of a comedy show happening at Black Sheep featuring Diaper Rash as a live band as well as a couple of other touring bands. This will definitely be something new worth checking out. For this show we have three comedians on board to do standup. One of them, Dan Allen, is on the road on tour as a comedian. Is this the right Dan Allen? Also taking the stage we have a couple of local comedians and those are Mike Tirehaus (also in the band King Worm) and Devon Fluelen. For bands, in addition to Diaper Rash we also have a couple of hardcore bands touring from Michigan. We have Eyesore and Breaking Wheel both from Michigan also playing the show. October 17th at Black Sheep: “Slamfest”

We are already gearing up for big things this upcoming fall in Southtown. For those of you who are fans of metal, rock, and other sorts of music, it looks like Black Sheep will be hosting a new festival called “Slamfest” on Saturday, October 17th. Slamfest will feature seven different bands, and will start just a little bit earlier than a regular show. Here is the lineup of seven bands performing at Slamfest:

August 14th at Black Sheep: Looming (Album Release), Park, Choir Vandals, Hidden Hospitals

On Friday, August 14th Black Sheep will be hosting the LP release show for Looming and their new album Nailbiter coming out on No Sleep Records. Get a sneak peak of a song from the new album here. This is a very exciting show for Looming, and also exciting because also taking the stage for this show at Black Sheep is Park– an older Springfield emo band that announced their reunion on our radio show a few years back. This will be Park’s first time playing Black Sheep since reuniting. Check out some of their music streaming below. In addition to those two bands this show will also feature Choir Vandals from St. Louis and also Hidden Hospitals from Chicago.

Sunday, July 28th at Brewhaus: Memorial Benefit For Lindsey Sharp

It is happening on Sunday, July 28th at Brewhaus Bar downtown and it is a benefit for Lindsey Sharp who recently passed away last month. The show is a benefit for Lindsey’s son. For this show you can expect a performance by Springfield’s Pyscho Fight, as well as The Timmys who are also playing Black Sheep Fest on July 25th. Also playing is the local rock group Jukebox Casanova.

The flier lists the event as happening from 5:00 pm to 1:00 am. Brewhaus Bar is located at 617 E. Washington, and this show is likely for ages 21 and up. Check out our Springfield shows page.

August 2nd at Black Sheep: Moon Hag, SAP, Fel Fae

In about just one month we have a show at Black Sheep on Sunday, August 2nd. It has been a little bit since we have any bands come play from outside of the country, and for this show we have Moon Hag coming from Ontario, Canada to play for us all! Moon Hag plays a type of psychedelic punk, and you can stream some of their music on the player below. Also on this show we have the Springfield dream-grunge three-piece group SAP, here to make you dance. And opening things up is a performance by the instrumental full band called Fel Fae, who will also be playing at Black Sheep tonight.
