We hope you are excited for this really dumb thing we have lined up at our store tonight. Tonight… is the exclusive premier of our very own Dumb Records Christmas Special DVD! Put together by the old man himself, this is over an hour-long movie of all of the weird and dumb commercials and content taken from throughout the year, a lot of which is on the “dumbrecs_official” instagram account who we don’t know is behind. This does contain some real crude humor, so viewer discretion is advised.

We have quite the interesting event happening later this month to announce to you today. We are hosting a special showing of “A Dumb Records Christmas Special” on DVD. What is this? It is something like an hour and a half worth of content created over the years featuring the Dumb Records old man, show commercials, and all sorts of funny good stuff crammed on to one DVD: “A Dumb Records Christmas Special.” We will be showing this masterpiece on a projector screen at on space on Sunday, December 22nd. Admission is free.

Today we are happy to announce the first movie / documentary screening we are attempting to have in our new space! And we’ve got it paired up with two bands performing, for an all around well rounded event! Our friends at Activator Magazine approached us about the possibility of us doing a showing of a new documentary from the UK exploring gender in the DIY scene called “What Band Is Your Boyfriend In?“. Here is a description from the facebook page:
This documentary features the views of a range of women/gender-fluid individuals from all walks of life within the UK music scene. It looks at how and why people get involved in music, the positive and the not-so-positive experiences, and the possible ways we can change things.
The gender divide exists – there’s no doubt about it. And recently there have been an increasing number of press articles on the issue, but they only scratch the surface. So, Which Band is Your Boyfriend in? provides an in-depth account of the situation.
From the outset it was my intention to create a film which could have an impact on the awareness of equality issues in the UK music scene. I hope that this project will inspire young people to pick up an instrument, learn to record music or just get out there to see live bands perform.

We also have two bands on the bill – if we had to guess how we will have it set up, we will likely have the bands go first and then the movie screening directly after. Bands performing include the incredibly talented alternative / punk group Blushe, and then the male-fronted hardcore band Prowess.

Happy Saturday everyone! If you don’t have anything to do this October night, we have the perfect solution for you. Tonight at Black Sheep we are hosting a scary movie night. As you can see, we have a projector screen hooked up to a VHS player all hooked up and ready to go, along with state of the art stadium theater seating and sound. Tonight we will be showing two films – starting at 7:00 pm. The fans have voted for their top picks on the facebook event here. Maybe we will be taking another poll at Black Sheep tonight to see if the polls line up?
This is tonight at Black Sheep – first movie starts around 7:00 pm, the second movie starts at some point after the first movie is done. We’ll just be taking donations for Black Sheep. Hey it’s more new and exciting stuff! A lot of you have suggested that we try movie showings inside Black Sheep. At the start of the summer we were trying this on Monday nights with a VCR, projector and a giant bed sheet. They went ALRIGHT. Now with October right around the corner it only seems appropriate that we try another movie night and make it a spooky one. So on Saturday, October 7th (one week from tomorrow) we will be hosting a “Scary Movie Night” in Black Sheep. We will likely be playing two movies, with the first starting at 7:00 pm. You can vote on a few options of which movies will be playing on the facebook event right here.
