Free Record Day is coming up at Dumb Records this Wednesday, and yes FREE Record Day is a REAL thing, we REALLY are giving out those records you see in the above picture for free. Just so everyone knows what will be in store for them when they walk into Dumb Records at any time this upcoming Wednesday January 11th! Here is what you can expect in *most* of the packages:

  • A free 12″ record (can be new or used)
  • A sticker (Black Sheep or Dumb)
  • A Springfield 2016 Mix CD *in most packages, not all of them

Looking at that picture above looks like everyone has a chance at getting Metallica, The Beatles, David Bowie, Nirvana, Oak Ridge Boys, Black Sabbath, Prince, and more. We are going to be wrapping up 200 records total to pass out (hopefully that is a good number for us).

Dumb Records will be open this special day from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Don’t forget there is an in-store show that night at 7:00 pm featuring DJ Tariq / Animals With Human Names, Peaches & Bacon, and Alec James. Check out a facebook event for all of that right here. Here we have more exciting things happening as we go into the year 2017 – on Wednesday, January 11th this year Southtown record store Dumb Records will be celebrating three whole years of existence since their start in 2014. To celebrate there of course will be a show happening inside the store, but the store is also inventing a brand new holiday – “Free Record Day.” That’s right- every person through the door of the store on this day will receive a free pre-packaged 12″ record. This could mean new or used, or of any genre- you don’t know what you are going to get! We have been promised that there will be some real gems thrown into the mix. The store is going to be open extended hours this day from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm so you have plenty of time to stop in and check it out.

For the in-store show happening at 7:00 pm that night (which is also free) there are some other surprises. We have a battle / collab set happening between “New York’s Deadliest DJ” – DJ Tariq and also new Springfield hip hop project “Animals With Human Names.” We are not sure what to expect for that! Check out the new tape from Animals With Human Names streaming below. Also on this show is Peaches & Bacon – a bluegrass duo based right here in Springfield and also involved in running communications over at the Lincoln Library. Opening things up we have a newer talented local singer/songwriter Alec James.

Check out a facebook event for all of that right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at everything coming up in Southtown in the year 2017!
