There will be a Black Sheep roundtable meeting this afternoon at 3:30. We will be meeting at Black Sheep to discuss the final details on our radio show (we are very close to being ready!) as well as some of our big plans for 2013. Anyone is welcomed to join in on the discussion.
And on an unrelated note, a big thanks to everyone who came out to Black Sheep last night and making the show so much fun. We all had a great time!
Wow! Tonight is our big holiday show and we hope you are all as excited as we are! Get your hot chocolate and egg nog ready! And don’t forget your hats and mittens!
Tonight we have the new project of members of Nathan & The Sheep and Mildred, Dream Eater opening things up. Then we have Caterpillar Club, the shoegaze-sludge project that have not played a show in a while. Then pop-punk locals Up In Arms will take the stage. Next we have The Timmys, who will probably be playing some hits off of their new album. And last we have Our Lady, who will be leaving to go on tour in January so come see them before they go!
The show will start at 7:00 pm and is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show here. Don’t forget to check out what other shows we have coming up on our shows page!
Just a reminder for you all that we are keeping our poll for best Springfield albums, songs, and shows of 2012 open for one more day as we will be posting the final results for the three categories starting tomorrow. To vote head over HERE to our poll. (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XX8W532). From there you can click on your favorite Springfield albums, but you will have to fill out your choices for best songs and shows. We will be posting the top five for each category starting tomorrow.
While our holiday show at Black Sheep is coming up tomorrow, there are a few other holiday shows in town that are worth checking out.
First we have the “Holiday Throwdown” at the Poon Lagoon starting at 7:00 pm. Bands playing include Everyone Is So Pretty, Big Storm (featuring members of Midnight Fall and Pound For Pound), Scott Blacula and Nephrons. That is a local line up not to miss! The show is at a house, so there is no door charge. You will have to head over to the facebook event to find the address.
Then after the Poon Lagoon show we have another holiday show at Bar None featuring Sunnyvale and Soy City Stranglers. The show will begin at 10:00 pm and is ages 21+.
To see what other shows are happening around Springfield outside of Black Sheep, check out our Springfield shows page.
We just caught word that the crazy evil-wrestle-band Scott Blacula has some sort of beef with emo punks Our Lady and the two bands plan to battle it out with a battle set at the show at the Harm House on New Year’s Eve (Monday). We were also told the feud between the bands has something to do with them sharing guitar player Nick DeMarco. No one knows what the outcome of this battle set will be, but we can guess that the whole thing will be fun to watch.
You can find a facebook event for the show Monday here. Other bands playing include Mildred, Mother Leopard, and Estates. You will have to ask a friend for the address since it is a house venue. Also stay updated on what shows are going on outside of Black Sheep in Springfield and check out our Springfield shows page.
The Radon Lounge have posted an album of photos from their recent Christmas Explosion show. You can find the photos on the Radon Lounge facebook page, here. The show featured plenty of bands and acoustic acts, ugly sweater contests, and more. The show was also a re-opening of the Radon Lounge after some remodeling this fall.
You can check our Springfield shows page for any upcoming shows at the Radon Lounge or other house venues in Springfield.
While we try adding photos to our flickr page every day, there are a few photos added from recent shows we would like to take note of. We have a few photos from the show at Black Sheep on December 14th featuring Lumpy & The Dumpers and Say Something. We also have a few photos from a Thanksgiving house show somewhere in Springfield. We would like to thank our photographer Lisa Marie for both sets of photos. You can check out some of those pictures above or head over to our flickr page to see more photos of the shows and other Springfield shows.

All of us here at Black Sheep would like to wish all of you a safe and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and Kwanzaa. See you all at the holiday show on Saturday!
We are happy to announce that we will be hosting the recent Springfield music compilation “Patchwork 2012” on blacksheepspringfield.com for free download starting January 1st 2013. The compilation will be streaming and up for free download on our site as well as on the Springfield based music blog Some Things Can’t Be Ignored. The compilation features 20 Springfield bands playing original songs.
Since the world ended yesterday, today we have a grim harsh noise and mixed-genre show for you all. Opening the show tonight is a brand new Springfield band called War Magic. Then we have the second show of the harsh-noise project Ylem. Then we have two touring acts from Milwaukee. xALLxFORxTHISx is described as “straight-edge power electronics.” Then we have Peter J. Woods, described as “theatrical harsh noise.”
The show starts at 7:00 pm and is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show here. Also be sure to check out what other shows we have coming up at Black Sheep over at our shows page.
