Screen Shot 2016-10-07 at 8.04.30 AM.png

We are happy to see that the Springfield TV show / web series The Studio Show is back at it again, coming in strong this week with the debut of their second season. For those of you unfamiliar with The Studio Show, here is their description from their facebook page:

The Studio Show exists to capture what is interesting and unique about the culture of Springfield, IL. The bi-weekly video format serves as a platform to connect local artists, musicians, writers, entertainers, and businesses to each other and the community. Since the fall of 2015, 12 episodes have been recorded and released to YouTube with overwhelming praise from the Springfield community and press. The creators are Dave Heinzel (director/camera/editor), Arlin Peebles (co-host/writer), Keil Isham (co-host/writer), Joe Day (camera/engineer), Clay Stalter (camera/photographer), Adam Nicholson (writer/scout), Adam Strong (landlord/consultant), and Ty Poppenhouse (writer/boom).

The show is coming back for a second season after a successful kickstarter campaign this summer to upgrade their equipment and keep up with running costs. The new episode sticks to their previous 25 minute format, with some extra special tidbits including the debut of a new Epsom music video, “community segments” and maybe even some short clips shot at Black Sheep Fest this past summer. Check out the new episode below:

October 28th at Black Sheep: Our Lady Final Show

12039439_857580100977053_5356316783929177678_n.jpg

This Monday evening, we are bringing a special show announcement to you- one happening on Friday, October 28th at the end of this month at Black Sheep. It looks like Our Lady will be playing one last final show as they have gone through struggles releasing their album these past few months. Here is a more in depth explanation and statement from the band:

Well, we’ve been silent. Some of you know why, but sadly most of you don’t. In truth, whats going on with us is pretty convoluted and frustrating to say the very least. We are at odds with the world as we have been for a long time now.

Short version: This band is done. The final show is taking place 10/28 at The Black Sheep. The Record “Lure” comes out 10/14 via Mayfly Records on CD & Vinyl. The record was stalled due to errors at the plant. Tours were canceled due to scheduling and everything has been a huge mess.

Why? Its really hard to put into words, and i don’t have the emotional awareness to do it as properly as it could be done but yes, this is it. The final show is happening and we are walking away from this with our heads down. We’re not saddened by the end but saddened to walk away from something that means so much to all of us.

The story of this band is a hard one. A hard one to hear and an even harder one to speak. We’ve always had problems. Members have come and gone, good friends have come and gone, and our stability has always been weary at best. No doubt in my mind we were a hardworking band at odds against each other & with the entire world. Financial strain was a constant reality and still will be even after all of this. We tried hard and poured ourselves into the music.

Touring is something we all learned & gained from in this band. We did it a lot, we got good at it and we saw a lot we would not of been able to without this band. We met tons of amazing & supportive people along the way and believe me, we will never forget any of you.

In short, we made this music not only for us but for everyone else to. Depression is a real struggle of mine & everyone else in this band. This band embodied it and we attempted to work through it not only between us but between this band and everyone who cared enough to listen. Ive experienced almost all of my most beautiful moments of being alive through this band and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.

Thank you all so much for your support. Thank you all so much for your care & concern. You are all the reason we kept doing this.

-Tim

Our Lady has been a staple in the Springfield music scene and Black Sheep community for around seven years now, which is longer than we can say for just about any local band right now. They have gone through many waves and lineup changes as Black Sheep has also seen friends and volunteers come and go. It is sad for us to see them go and we look to supporting them in their final show and with any future projects.

The final show again will be happening Friday, October 28th at Black Sheep. Other bands playing include Lume from Chicago, The Foxery from Louisville, and Estates from Milwaukee. The show is at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this fall.

Check out some of their tunes on the player below. Also on this show is Springfield three piece punk band Moondead. They will be paired up with the hardcore jumpsuit boy band- Livin’ Thing. Check out what’s going on at Black Sheep tonight! Last night was great and tonight should be too. We are trying to give back to the community more at Black Sheep headquarters and this weekend featured a free show last night and now a benefit for local radio station WQNA tonight. Recently WQNA’s transmitters suffered damage from a storm, which then inspired the idea for a benefit. We also have TANG– the band, not the drink, which features Ted Keylon who also has a program on 88.3. Then is The Good Companions featuring Danny Kerwin of Monophonic-Stereo Show on Monday nights.
