Some Things Can’t Be Ignored: Recordings from Hobgob 2007

Springfield related music blog Some Things Can’t Be Ignored has featured a live recording of Dr. Chud’s X-Ward‘s set during the Hobgoblinspookadelic show in 2007 at City Nights in Springfield. “Dr. Chud” was not a Springfield band or musician, but instead an ex-drummer of the reincarnated version of the Misfits in the 1990s. Anthony of Some Things Can’t Be Ignored:

I know, I know…this isn’t a Springfield band, so you are probably wondering why the hell I’m posting it.  Well…the show was performed here, and it DOES feature some vocals from Mr. Ernie Bob formerly of INcontinent HavoC and currently of local punk rockers, Action Bastard.  You’ll hear him yell on “Crimson Ghost” and certainly at the end during “Bury You Alive”.  I was standing next to him during the entire set!  See?

You can find the entire post including a download to the live recordings here.

Artifacts Launch New Webstore

Our neighbors over at Artifacts art shop have launched a new webstore. You can check it out at www.artifactsgear.com. You can find plenty of items for sale including gear, hats, shirts, hoodies, paintings, and other art. Artifacts re-opened their store earlier this fall and are located just east of Black Sheep on South Grand. From the “about” section of the Artifacts website:

Started in 2009 by glassblower Mike Grit with a desire to bring high quality glass objects to a demanding audience while educating and enhancing appreciation for the art through demonstrations lessons and workshops. We currently have 2 stations for working hot glass, with ample room for painters, sculptors, musicians and other artists to collaborate in a creative environment.  Our gallery features rotating exhibits of work from varying artists, and our own collection of acquired works from local and national artists, labels and collectives

Photos from Hobgob at Donnie’s Homespun

Below we have a few pictures of the second all ages Hobgoblinspookadelic show this year at Donnie’s Homespun during NIL8‘s set. Hopefully everyone had a blast! If you have any more pictures from this show or any other Springfield show send them to us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will feature them on our site! You can also find more pictures of non-Black Sheep shows on our Springfield shows flickr set.

The last picture is of a speaker that caught fire, and was quickly put out! There were also a few complaints with the sound inside of the venue that night, to which Donnie’s has responded to.

On behalf of Donnies, we are taking your comments very seriously and are currently working to fix these issues. Thanks everyone for throwing down Saturday night. Sometimes it takes a packed house to really highlight the issues with a venue. Your continued support will help us to carry on improving the venue and overcome any financial limitations restricting us from achieving the best possible product.

More Vintage Black Sheep Photos

Our archeologists found a cache of more pictures that feature Black Sheep from yesteryear. These pictures shows Kick To Tha Head and HK-47 playing in an infant BXS with brilliantly colored walls and fresh art. We thank explorer and archeologist Dr. Kevin Bradford for these artifacts.
