July 23rd at South Town Studio: Black Bloc, Gazeebo, Ceiling Lust, Emasculate Regression

DFflier.jpg

Looks like we are shaking things back up again with a show going on tonight inside Dumb Records, and now this noise show inside South Town Studio (not a recording Studio anymore, but still holds shows occasionally!) this upcoming Saturday, July 23rd. There is nothing going on at Black Sheep that night. For this one we have noise/drone project Black Bloc coming from New York. You can stream a track from that project on the player embedded below. Then we have three local acts, including a rare set from the Springfield noise project Gazeebo. We also have the newer industrial project Ceiling Lust, and opening things up looks like we have Emasculate Regression.

This show will be kicking off at 8:00 pm, looks like there might be food available a little before then- but bring donations if you want to eat! Donations be likely taken for the touring act as well. Check out our shows page for a list of upcoming shows at Black Sheep and in Southtown.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Sudden Attack, Death Cult, Undone

13482834_1397551653605171_8053358557983028393_o

Tonight we are trying some new things, and that is going to be our first (or first in a while) full-on full-electric hardcore punk show inside of Dumb Records! We were originally doing this three-band show inside the store because there was something else being set up inside Black Sheep. No show in Black Sheep now, but we are going to continue with the late show inside of Dumb because why not. We have a hardcore band coming from Austin, Texas called Sudden Attack on the bill. You can check them out on the music player below. We also have Death Cult touring with them and also from Texas. Then the third and opening band on this bill is a brand new Springfield band featuring members of Green Messiah, Garter, and GUSH called “Undone.” Make sure to catch them and see what that is all about.

The show tonight is going to be 9:00 pm inside of Dumb Records. We will be taking donations for the touring acts (suggested $5). You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Today on Black Sheep Radio: Springfield Illinois Music History

13568815_1122908187770824_9005252337937711180_o.jpg

We actually have a VERY new and exciting episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show lined up today! We have a very special guest! It’s a special episode! This episode is special because we have Nereida and Bob Littrell coming in, who happen to run the very interesting Springfield Illinois Music History page on facebook. The page has been constantly wow-ing us with photos and videos of Springfield bands from as far back as the 1930’s, including much of the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s. Nereida and Bob will be coming in to talk to us about the project, and we will likely be talking about plenty of bands from our town’s past. We also have quite the playlist lined up, mostly of music from Springfield bands of the past. You can pretty much expect most of it to be from ten years ago and earlier. So buckle your seat belts in this afternoon and get ready to learn!

The Black Sheep Radio Show airs today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. There were some problems with the signal from the CACC studio last week, if there are problems again this week you might need to stream the show on wqna.net online also from 4:00 to 6:00 pm!

The video is of the band’s full twelve-minute set on the fourth of July at a show along with Capitol Offense, Nequient, and Starlorde. You can check it out below. Also thanks to Gordon for taking the video! Torture Trend’s next show is actually happening this upcoming Friday at Black Sheep along with Odds of an Afterthought and Of Brighter Skies.

You can find more videos and pictures from over the years at Black Sheep on our vids/pics page.

Today on Black Sheep Radio: Kowabunga! Kid

12183916_1040149492704177_5738131088401558493_o.jpg

Our very special #1 guests on The Black Sheep Radio Show are… let’s see… pull the curtain Mike! It’s… is that?… Oh! It’s Kowabunga! Kid! And looks like we are catching them at the tail end of their big west coast tour! We’ll get to hear all about how that went today! Pictured above is Kowabunga! Kid and then an extra Brian Galecki thrown in the middle there because Brian will be interviewing the band on the radio. We might also throw in an extra live video feed in there as well, which you will sure to be able to find on the Black Sheep Radio Show facebook page. Sure, we’ll be playing plenty of tunes from The Kids and also of plenty other local bands and bands that are coming to town.

You can catch our radio show from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm. You can also stream it online at the same time at wqna.net. Check out our radio page for a few downloadable episodes of the past.

Tonight, there might not be a Super Moon in the sky but there will be one in our venue. We have the band “Super Moon” (pictured above) coming from Omaha, Nebraska. What are they about? Looks like they play some type of “moon rock” and you can find their music streaming on the player below. This show will also be a tour kick-off show for Decatur, Illinois’s very own Mammoth Cannon, and will also be their first time performing at Black Sheep. Come say “hi” and “bye” to them. Opening things up looks like we have the very psychedelic and very groovy Jacksonville-based band Flamingo taking the big stage.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. And of course check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up this summer at Black Sheep.
