It’s a Friday night and there is a show going on at Black Sheep! That means everyone is going to come out and have lots of fun. Tonight we have Good Luck Varsity on tour all the way from Detroit. Then we have pop punk band Up In Arms (who will also be on Black Sheep Radio today)! We also have local folk punk favorites Lovecow. And opening things up tonight we have Yogi Beara which is a new band featuring members of The Least of Alls and Rebel Jade.

We are very excited to announce that on Sunday April 14th Sean Bonnette of the folk punk band Andrew Jackson Jihad will be performing at Black Sheep. Joining him will be Ian Graham of the band Cheap Girls. Sean of AJJ had this to say about the upcoming tour:

On this tour I will be playing lots of different kinds of songs. Old, new, covers, deep cuts, etc… There will probably be a clipboard at the merch table where you can write in requests. Mark from Anxiety Machine Records will be there too. It will be a truly fantastic voyage.

This is some exciting news. Some of you may remember early summer of 2010 when Andrew Jackson Jihad first played at Black Sheep. This time around (April 14th 2013) the show will also feature two younger local bands Lovecow and Austin & Austin. You can expect a facebook event for the show along with a flier soon. The show will start at 7:00 pm with an admission of $8. Don’t forget to also check our shows page to see what other shows are happening at Black Sheep before then!

Did any of you see the Our Lady/Scott Blacula battle set that happened on New Years Eve at the Harm House? It was intense. Tonight Scott Blacula are coming back to take on another long time foe, and that is Dino Bravo from Champaign. Both bands claim to be the original wrestle band, but there can only be one. This will truly be a great and historic battle set in Springfield and Central Illinois music history. Both bands have been going at it for a while now, they were on the radio yesterday and they have also made youtube videos taunting each other which can be viewed here.

Also playing the show will be Austin & Austin and Mildred. Will those two bands be battling it out as well? Who knows! We do know that the show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. It may seem like a while from now, but on April 13th we are hosting a metal/hardcore show that is sure to be a great time. Apparently the show is being called the “Bringing Back The Vanue” and a facebook event with more of a description can be found here. For the bands playing we have metal act Elyse from Mechanisburg opening things up. Then we have Brave|Heart playing melodic hardcore from Bloomington IL. We also have the return of metal act Vengeance. Also playing is Dreams May Fall from Pekin Illinois and also pictured above, and last we have Battalion, who have also not played Black Sheep in a while.

Look at what is going on tonight! Coming to Black Sheep and on tour is This Noise, and indie-rock band from Evansville, Indiana. We also have Enta, an ambient screamo band from Champaign playing the show. And opening things up we have Mildred, who were just on Black Sheep Radio yesterday! If all of those bands aren’t good enough reasons to come out tonight then we don’t know what is.

Blah. On Sunday, February 24th we have this pretty scummy and grim looking show for you all. Things are sure to get loud, fast, and heavy. First up we have Soap Scum which we have been told is a new punk band in town featuring ex members of Kick To Tha Head, Intricate Collapse, and Bastognes Best. Then we have Earth Witch from Champaign featuring members of Rvins and Dino Bravo. And finally we have Say Something, the new punk band of ex members of the legendary Springfield ska band Don’t Mess With Winkie. Also be on the lookout for some bands to be added to this show later!
