Looking for another fun acoustic show? Well, there is the Sean Bonnette/Ian Graham show happening on April 14th but today we have ANOTHER fun acoustic show happening at Black Sheep to tell you about! It looks like acoustic acts Mitch The Champ and Garretsucks will be performing at Black Sheep on Friday April 26th. They are on tour from Bloomington, Indiana. Joining them on the show will be Solenodon from Louisville, Kentucky. Then we have local support from Brandon Carnes and also a new acoustic act called “Paqui”. You may recognize Paqui as Scott Blacula’s nemesis.

It may be coming up fast, but we have a spooky show to tell you all about happening on Friday, March 29th. It looks like another show for the new and mysterious punk band Soap Scum! The band features ex members of Don’t Mess With Winkie, Intricate Collapse, Bastognes Best, and Kick To The Head. Then also playing the show on the 29th will be Chain’s Gang from Champaign. This band features members of Kowabunga! Kid, and Horrible Things so they are sure to be great. Another Springfield band that will be playing is the heavy shoegaze project Caterpillar Club. And last we have Gas Up Yr Hearse playing hectic screamo from Bloomington/Normal.

Local ska-punk band Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi have requested that you all mark one month from today: Saturday, April 6th in your calendars because they will be releasing their new EP “Episode VI: Return of the Red Eyes” on that day. There will be a release show at Black Sheep. Also playing the show will be Must Build Jacuzzi from the Peoria area. From the Obi-Wan’s facebook last week:
We’ve finished recording the new EP, we just have to get it mixed and we’ll be ready to let you hear it! Then we’ll play that pesky Release party in April.

On Saturday, March 23rd we have a great emo/post-rock/post-hardcore show for you all! Come out and “relax”! Headlining the show is Lighthouses from Nebraska! They play post-hardcore type stuff. Then we have Short Stories About Their Distance from Bloomington, Illinois (the flier says Champaign)! You can check out some of their music on the bandcamp player below. Then we have a brand new Springfield band called Naughtalus! We are told that this new band features members of Dream Eater and they play some type of electronic post-rock. Then there is some sort of mystery rap project? We are not sure if the band name is “???” or if the name is a complete mystery. Whatever that is it is going to open up the show, so it should be fun!

The Radon Lounge are making an exception to their one-show-a-month rule for an exciting show on April 4th featuring The Soil & The Sun from Grand Rapids Michigan. The Soil & The Sun is an eight piece band playing folk and experimental rock. That’s a lot of people for a basement show! You can stream some of their songs on the bandcamp player below. Also playing the show at Radon on April 4th is Kellen & Me, which is a one-man electric/indie/folk project from Chicago. Opening things up is Trouper, which is a two piece that formed just this year from Mansfield, Ohio.
The show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $8. The Radon Lounge is a house venue, so you have to email radonlounge@gmail.com to request the address. Does anybody know what day it is? No, the Teenage Bottlerocket/Off With Their Heads show is not happening today, but today marks ten days until it does happen! That’s right, TEN MORE DAYS until the show on Monday March 11th!

We have one heck of a show for you all tonight. It’s five intense hardcore and punk bands from Springfield and other surrounding areas! Kicking things off we have Soap Scum, which is a brand new Springfield hardcore/punk band featuring members of Kick To Tha Head, Bastognes Best, Don’t Mess With Winkie, and Intricate Collapse. Wow! Then next we have Earth Witch from Champaign featuring members of RVINS and Dino Bravo. From Belleville, Illinois we have Trauma Harness playing ghoulish garage punk. Then we have new local band Say Something, also featuring members of Don’t Mess With Winkie. Last we have the return of slimy St. Louis punks Lumpy & The Dumpers!

Those of you who saw and loved Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg Bop play at Donnie’s Homespun in October will love to hear that Michale Graves himself (Misfits, Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg, etc.) and backing band will be heading to Donnie’s Homespun to play a show on Friday, May 3rd! The show will be a part of Michale Graves’s CD release tour for his new album Vagabond. Graves recently launched a kickstarter campaign for his new CD, which he has since made the pledged $20,000 goal.
Bands also playing the show on May 3rd will be Sunnyvale and Neon Rebels. The show will be ALL AGES, and starts at 8:00 pm. You can find more ticket info and preorder tickets here.
