Good morning, it’s the weekend everyone! We’ve got a busy time ahead of us – with shows happening tonight and tomorrow night and a record fair on Saturday. Tonight we’ve got rockin’ garage punk rock trio from Madison, Wisconsin The Hussy featuring a member of rock n’ roll group “Nobunny.” You can check them out on the player embedded below. They have a new album coming out called Looming, lol. In addition to The Hussy we’ve got a gabble of local bands playing this one as well, including a performance from rock group Epsom. There’s also the instrumental surf band, “Snuff Rider“. And ah yes, a performance by the newer Springfield hardcore band, Black Box.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at the Bread Dumb Records in the near future.
Today and tonight is going to be pretty non stop for us with the sidewalk sales going on and a pretty stacked hip hop show happening tonight! Tonight we’ve got another six performers lined up, most of them have never performed at our space before. At the top of the bill is Junior Pasáre, who recently dropped an album called We Gone Win. Moving on down the flier… we got Alexa Redd, who is a pop artist from Lincoln, Illinois who is also doing big things. She performed in front of our space earlier this spring for the “Fat Ass 5k” parade downtown and that was a fun time even though it rained. Moving down the list, we have a very rare performance by CompositionC, who recently put out a full length album which we happen to have in stock on CD in our store! This will be his first performance since putting out the album. Animals With Human Names is on the bill as well, playing for the second time in our space. Then is a younger artist we just heard about going by “Keyng“, based out of Lanphier High School right here in Springfield! Opening things up at this one is Nardo Drip – an artist originally from Chicago who from what we understand has some hot dance moves as well.
Tonight doors are at 7:00 pm and show time is right at 7:30 pm! Admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page where we have everything coming up at our space listed out.
What’s up we have a show going on tonight! We are excited for this one, it’s a nice and sweet mostly acoustic, mostly solo show. At the top of the bill is Asa Dawson, who used to play in alternative / pop punk band The Junior Varsity, which was active for much of the 00’s and put out a few albums on Victory Records! This will surely be a treat. Another band coming back for this show we haven’t seen since the earlier days of Black Sheep is “The Winning Stretch” which we have been told are performing as a three piece full band. We’ve also got a solo set by Mario Cannamela of Bottom Bracket and countless other bands. Opening things up is a set by Blue (Blu?) Parks. Blu’s the only one of those who has a bandcamp player! You can find their music streaming on the player below.
That all starts tonight at 7:00 pm and admission is just $5. Check out a facebook event for the show tonight right here. Also don’t be a dummy and check out our shows page for a good look at what is coming up at our space in the near future.
Tonight we have the first movie / documentary screening we are attempting to have in our new space! And we’ve got it paired up with two bands performing, for an all around well rounded event! Our friends at Activator Magazine approached us about the possibility of us doing a showing of a new documentary from the UK exploring gender in the DIY scene called “What Band Is Your Boyfriend In?“. Here is a description from the facebook page:
This documentary features the views of a range of women/gender-fluid individuals from all walks of life within the UK music scene. It looks at how and why people get involved in music, the positive and the not-so-positive experiences, and the possible ways we can change things.
The gender divide exists – there’s no doubt about it. And recently there have been an increasing number of press articles on the issue, but they only scratch the surface. So, Which Band is Your Boyfriend in? provides an in-depth account of the situation.
From the outset it was my intention to create a film which could have an impact on the awareness of equality issues in the UK music scene. I hope that this project will inspire young people to pick up an instrument, learn to record music or just get out there to see live bands perform.
Check out the trailer for the documentary on the player below. Total run time is close to an hour and a half. We also have two bands on the bill – if we had to guess how we will have it set up, we will likely have the bands go first and then the movie screening directly after. Bands performing include the incredibly talented alternative / punk group Blushe, and then the male-fronted hardcore band Prowess.
This one starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Sounds like we are doing bands first and then the movie showing. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else we’ve got coming up.
Tonight! We’ve got a show going on, and it’s this one that features a *surprise* international band. Who is that band? That band is Navel from Japan, a pop punk band that has been around since the 1990’s rockin’ it in Japan on Bloated Kat Records. Check out their music streaming on the player below. They are touring with a band called Teenage Bigfoot from Philadelphia. There have been some slight changes to this lineup as well since it was originally announced as far as local bands go. Bottom Bracket is no longer playing (sorry), but Starter Jackets still is. Opening things up is the Peoria/Springfield emo band Sadface Killer.
The show tonight kicks off at 7:00 pm and it’s a $10 show, so remember to ask your parents for a few extra bucks. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up in the near future.
Tonight! The weather is very nice out and we are having a party! Well, kind of just a normal show, it’s a short and sweet one, but also a special one because it will be a music video shoot for one of Prevention‘s songs. Just like this. The song the music video is for is their song “Another World.” We are supposed to tell you to learn the words, practice singing along, and your dance moves today before the show at home. Also on this show is Brute Force from the Southern Illinois / St. Louis area. Opening things up is Blushe.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5, you just can’t beat that. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else we’ve got coming up at Bread Dumb Records in the future!
What’s going on over at our space tonight? It’s another CD release show for an artist from the area! This time the CD release is for Chance Reiniesch – a vocalist / musician from Gillespie, Illinois (pretty close to here) who is releasing a new EP called People Pleaser. We are fairly certain the EP will be available on CD. And it’s up on Spotify now! Also on this show and playing our new spot for the first time is local rock group Rather Dashing. Stream some of their music on the player below. We’ve had a slight lineup change to the show since it was first announced it looks like – instead of Kenyon DeShasier playing tonight, Vincent Sebastian is going to take his place and do a short set. Also tonight is a good night to head on downtown and check out this show and also maybe catch a glimpse of Spin Doctors at The Old Capitol Blues & BBQ Festival!
Check out a facebook event for our show tonight right here. Start time is 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Also be sure to look at our shows page for a look at what else is coming up! See ya!
It’s the weekend and we just so happen to have two shows lined up these next two nights! Tonight! We have a mixed genre show of sorts going on. Looks like we’ve got the first metal band lined up in the new space(?), with Eyes From Above from in and around the area. Nice. The touring band on this show is Baltic To Boardwalk from Fargo, North Dakota, which is actually a band that has played Black Sheep some years ago. Stream some of Baltic To Boardwalk’s music on the player below. We’ve also got the Alton, Illinois emo group Reaver playing at the new spot for the first time (they had played Black Sheep a good number of times as well). Opening things up is hard and nasty hardcore group from right here in Springfield, Graveswitcher.
This show kicks off at 7:00 pm and it’s another $7 show. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a nice look at what else is coming up at Dump Records in the near future.
Guess what, it’s Tuesday night but there is a show going on at our space tonight! We still got a little bit of summer left in us! Tonight the show features the band “Lowfaith” from Denver, Colorado. Check out some of their music on the player below. Also on this show is new-ish local supergroup Night Night Boy bringing in the perfect amount of minute-long songs. We also have (as featured on the cover of last* month’s Activator Magazine), Blushe! Opening things up is Belle… solo act from Champaign? Is that right?
Things for this show kick off tonight at 7:00 pm and admission is $6. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at our spot in the near future!
It’s Friday, and the weekend! We only got one show going on at our space this weekend and that is tonight, and it is one that is sure to last probably around one hour if we had to guess. (Okay, maybe two). Tonight we got a band called “Nasty Boys” from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Looks like it’s a duo of two guys. What makes them so nasty??? Come to the show to find out. And stream their music on the player below. Also on this show is Springfield hardcore band Final Order. Opening things up looks like dug up from the grave is GRINN… a band we have not seen or heard or anything since… Dumb Fest #5 back in 2017? Well we’ll be darned.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission will be $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page to take a look at what else is going on at our space in the near future!
