Here at Black Sheep, it has been quite a while since we have had a rap show! For those of you who were at The Battle of the Bands earlier this month, you may have caught a sneak peak of acts from a new rap recording project called “The Cage” from across South Grand. Today we are announcing a rap/mixed genre show coming up at the end of August! This show is happening on Friday, August 30th. It will feature the rap project Cooshit and is being called the Cooshit SuperDuperDopeDank Show! In the middle of the show we have grind/metal band Scott Blacula, who we think lost a battle to Emperor Norton at Black Sheep Fest last weekend. Opening the show up is another rap project going by the name Habilis Riccardo. The flier says that there will be more surprises including a “free shirt giveaway”, “cooking contest?!?”, and “free candy”?!? Sounds like a lot of fun!

August 29th at Black Sheep: Wringer, Nephrons, Hospital Job, +1 TBA

So many shows in August! Jeez Louise! Who’s Louise? I don’t know! But here’s a nifty punk show we got goin’ on Thursday, August 29th! First up, we have Wringer, a punk rock trio, on tour from Bloomington, Indiana! Check out their stuff down below! Then we have the good ol’ Nephrons! Their record comes out August 1st and they’ll be having a record release show! You can check that out here! We also have local pop punker’s Hospital Job! This will be one heck of a show for Fred! There’s also a +1 TBA! Who is it? Heck if I know, but I’m sure we’ll find out!

Black Sheep Art Show on August 23rd

Black Sheep’s next art show is just around the corner! On Friday August 23rd we will be hosting an event a little different than the typical show at the Black Sheep. If you’ve never been to one, art shows at the Black Sheep are great outlets for art that isn’t focused around music. Paintings, drawings, pottery, etc from local artists will all be on display, and some even possibly for sale! Here is the complete list of artists that will be participating:

August 22 at Black Sheep: Naughtalus, Flamingo, 64 Squares, Haircut Actual

We have a bunch of fun shows coming up in August! This is one of them!!! This show’s full of some great local bands, but not all of them are from here! we have an art-punk band from La Crosse, WI called 64 Squares. Opening things up, we have local rock group Haircut Actual, who will be making a return to Black Sheep after their set at The Black Sheep Battle of the Bands. Closing up the show, we have local/Jacksonville psychedelic rock group Flamingo, and ambient rock and rollers, Naughtalus.

August 10th at Black Sheep: Dead North, Meredosia, State Lines, No Good News, War Magic

We have ANOTHER show in August coming up soon! This one is jam-packed full of great bands! Opening things up, we have War Magic, a local ambient, folk band playing their first show at the Black Sheep! Next up we have No Good News bringing the pop punk and State Lines bringin’ the sad jams, both hailing from Long Island. Then, we have local post-rock anthem makers, Meredosia. Closing things up, we have North Dead, a pop punk band from Ohio! You can check out their stuff below!

The show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Before the show, though, there is a short “manitee” show (which is free) that Execution Techniques is performing starting at 6:00 pm so make sure you get there early! We got a realllll mellow show for you all coming up in a couple weeks! First up, we have touring from Wyoming, an indie/folk band called Sleeping Cranes. We’ve got some of their stuff streaming down below. Then we have good ol’ Jess Knight performing her solo set! We also have the rap stylings of Mr. Chandler from right here in Springfield, IL. We also have local acoustic/alternative duo Atlas At His Finest. Then, opening things up, we have a new local emo group called Wir Konnen, which features members of Montagh and Lovecow!

August 11th at Black Sheep: The Seething Coast, The Greek Favourites, Mildred, +1 TBA

We have another show announced for August! I’m sure it’ll be quite the humdinger! We have a Punk band touring from Pennsylvania called The Greek Favourites! You can listen to some of their tunes down below. Next, we got the local indie/punk band, The Seething Coast. Then, we have local Feel-Bringers, Mildred. There’s also a TBA on this show. I wonder who it will be………..

August 21st at Black Sheep: Soap Scum, Cross Me, Wolf Luv, IAMIAM, Gazeebo

We have a hardcore show coming up in August! It’s gonna feature only the scummiest of all bands, Soap Scum. Also playing, we have two bands not from around these parts. First, we have Cross Me which is a hardcore band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Then we have Wolf Luv from Champaign, which features members from Need. Opening up the show, we have two noise projects. One, named IAMIAM which features a member from Montagh, and another, named Gazeebo

August 12th at Black Sheep: They Eat Their Own God, Discourage, Scott Blacula, Gutterpriest, Yusuke

It’s another August show! This one is happening on Monday, August 12th and it is surely going to be a blast. We have a band called They Eat Their Own God coming from Columbia, South Carolina. They play some crusty type of metal and you can check out some of their music below. Next up we have the band Discourage who are also from South Carolina and are on tour with They Eat Their Own God. Onto the Springfield bands! Scott Blacula will be playing and will also be ready to destroy whatever band that dares to crosses their paths. We have Gutterpriest, the solo noise project that will melt your brain. First but not least we have the return of Yusuke from the cities of Peoria and Bloomington, Illinois. You may have seen their set at Skank Skates at Dumb Fest in June.

August 3rd at Black Sheep: Runaway Brother, Secret Grief, Kowabunga Kid, Lovecow

Look at that really awesome flier for this really awesome show that we will be hosting on Saturday, August 3rd! There are some really cool bands playing too! There is a great pop-punk/indie band from Cleveland, Ohio coming through on tour called Runaway Brother. You can check out some of their music on the player below. Runaway Brother will be on tour with the band Secret Grief. They are an emo/indie band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Next we have Kowabunga!Kid from Champaign, Illinois. They play a surf-y type of punk and they will be making their return to Black Sheep as a part of their two-week tour. You can check out a wacky new music video from them below. Opening up the show is Springfield’s own folk punk band Lovecow! Lovecow will also be playing Black Sheep Fest on July 27th before this show happens.
