November 5th at Black Sheep: Dowsing, Our Lady, Looming

The show we are announcing today may seem a long way off, but it definitely is going to be a very cool show. This one is happening on Wednesday, November 5th. It features Chicago emo/indie band Dowsing (pictured above). Members of Dowsing play in Kittyhawk who played a great show here at Black Sheep earlier this year. You can check out some of Dowsing’s music streaming below. This show also features a solid lineup of Springfield acts. We have Our Lady, who are just now getting ready for the arrivals of their new 12″ and split 7″ with Estates. Then we have Looming, who just blew away thousands of music fans at Downhome Music Festival.

September 18th at Black Sheep: JAG, Secret Tombs, F///\\\M

yeahSome of you may remember a certain Springfield house show a little over one year ago when Pennsylvania Pissed-Jeans related band Blood Red came and played The Harm House. Now this year on Thursday, September 18th we have a new band featuring members of Blood Red called Secret Tombs coming to Black Sheep for a show. They play a slower and more rock influenced type music that you can stream on the player below. This show also features Springfield creep-wave band JAG. Then to top things off we get to witness a rare F///\\\M performance at this show. F///\\\M is the solo ambient project of Brandon Carnes.

September 6th at Black Sheep: The Timmys, Bad Banshee, Minor Decline, Say Something

With the summer drawing to a close and the beginning of the fall, it is time for a good old fashioned “punk rock cookout.” If you remember last year, we had our first annual “punk rock cookout” in June and it was great. Now we are having it again on Saturday, September 6th. Come out, bring food, come ready to eat food, or do whatever you want! We have heard that there will be vegan and non-vegan hotdogs. On top of food and cookouts, there will be plenty of bands. This show will feature The Timmys‘ first Black Sheep appearance in a short while. We also have newer Springfield ska name-changers, Bad Banshee. Then there will be one out of town band called Minor Decline from Galesburg, Illinois. Opening things up is a rare performance by fast hardcore/punk band Say Something.

August 24th at Haunted Mansion: Haldol, King Worm

Today we have a short and sweet show announcement for a brand new house venue in Springfield. The house is going by the name “The Haunted Mansion” and they have a show coming up on Sunday, August 24th. The show only has two bands announced right now but we have told that there is likely one more to come. One of those two bands is Springfield’s own King Worm (pictured above). Don’t miss out on your chance to see the new Springfield punk five-piece in a basement. Also on this show is Haldol from Philadelphia. They will be on tour, and you can find some of their music streaming below.

October 23rd at Black Sheep: Our Lady, Alaska, Twin Cities, Loses the Mighty

October is coming up in a couple of months! This means fall shows will be upon us soon and times will be cool. Check out this show on Friday, October 23rd, it has a rad lineup lineup that will be full of heart and flannels. The local sobsters in Our Lady will be starting off the night with their emotionally riveting tunes. It’s sure to be a treat. Hailing from Nevada, touring band Alaska will have some alternative and progressive tunes for everyone to enjoy- so make sure to support them and check them out as well as the other touring band Twin Cities, who will be coming from Vegas. Their indie tunes are sure to please so if you want to hear a morsel of what well done Vegas indie sounds like, come see this band! Last but not least we have our good friends in Loses The Mighty playing this show as well so come check out their hardcore tunes! The night should be a super-fly-heart-string-sandwhich for yer ears.

August 15th at Black Sheep: Atlas At His Finest, Bad Catman, Dahling, Teenage Swoon, JAG

We’re going to be having a really cool show coming up on Friday, August 15th. A hidden local act known as Atlas at his Finest will be playing an acoustic set that is sure to be heartfelt. Bad Catman from Champaign will be exhibiting some gnarly punker tunes which always proves to be fun. There will be two bands touring from Austin, Texas as well. Dahling will have some rad punk tunes to jig to so check them out. Teenage Swoon (of Guard Records) will have some super fly post-hardcore tunes and they’re sure to put on a good set, so definitely check them out as well. To round the night off, the junk punkers JAG will be playing weird stuff as usual and will probably cause mischief so after all the other bands have played, find out what they’re all about.

August 14th at Black Sheep: Glish, Panzys, Blind Social

Hey kid, do you like shoegaze? Do you like rock? Do you like punk? No? Yes? Well whatever you like, we have just the show for you! This one is happening on Thursday, August 14th at Black Sheep. For this show we have Glish, the New Orleans shoegaze project coming to Springfield as a part of their summer tour. You can stream one of their songs below. Also on this show are Springfield crazy punk boys Panzys. We also have the rock band Blind Social, who were also recently added to Black Sheep Fest.

August 23rd at Black Sheep: The Complaint Line, This City of Takers, Tiger Rider, Wilt Candy

823Folks, it looks like an epic show will be approaching us once mid August comes around. This one is happening on Saturday, August 23rdThe Complaint Line will be making their way on The Black Sheep stage once again with their rad and unique punker jams. This City of Takers will be coming down from St. Louis to dish out some experimental rocky songs, which should be a cool treat. The weirdo Missouri punks in Tiger Rider will be telling it like it is in their garage rock hits. The local folk punk heroes in Wilt Candy will then also do the same thing in a different light, which will make this a very honest and heart-felt evening for the whole punk-rock family to enjoy.

September 5th at Black Sheep: Lumpy & The Dumpers, Mongoloid, Mouthsex, King Worm, Panzys

Ready for our first show announcement of September? This one is happening on Friday, September 5th and it is surely going to be one for the record books. This show will feature the return of the St. Louis punk band that everyone has been raving about all over the internet and TV, Lumpy & The Dumpers. The last time Lumpy played here was on the ramp during the first Dumb Fest last summer. Check out a video of one of the band’s more recent sets in New York below. Lumpy & The Dumpers will be coming this time on tour with Mongoloid from Portland, Oregon. This show is also stacked with local punk bands. We have the nasty Mouthsex and also Springfield’s newer disgusting punk band King Worm. We also welcome young rockers Panzys onto this great lineup of a show.

July 22nd at Dumb Records: Brandon Carnes, Jessica Knight, Mitch the Champ, Garret Walters, Mario Cannamela

722 Salutations, checkit. This show coming up in July is going to be off the fly. Brandon Carnes of The Timmys, Big StormLooming and F///\\\M will be belting blasphemy for all of us to enjoy. Jessica Knight, also a member of Looming as well as Asthma and former band Mother Leopard will be serenading us with some acoustic jams. Mitch The Champ of Planit-X-Records (Bloomington, IN) will be coming through town so definitely check that human’s music out! Garret Walters (also of Planit-X-Records) is sure to offer some lovely punker acoustic jams. Mario Cannamela (Mario Scum) of Soap Scum will sing us his sad-pup acoustic songs so check out that local act too.
