April 3rd at Black Sheep: Ghost Mice, Bad Banshee, Pat The Bunny, SAP

On Friday, April 3rd we have a nice show coming up for all of you folk punk fans, ska fans, or fans of anything. Ghost Mice from Bloomington, Indiana will be returning to Black Sheep for this show. Stream some of Ghost Mice’s music below. You might remember Ghost Mice came through about one year ago with Bernay’s Propaganda from Macedonia. This time the band is coming through with Pat The Bunny– solo musician also known for playing in the band Ramshackle Glory, which played at Black Sheep back in the summer of 2012. Also playing this show is your favorite ska-punk-formal band Bad Banshee. And opening things up is the three piece grunge/punk band SAP.

February 28th at The Radon Lounge: Otis The Destroyer, Von Stranz, The Locals, Rella

It has been a little while since we have talked about any shows happening at Springfield house venue, The Radon Lounge. Well, the house is still going strong- they just put on a Bruce Springsteen cover night late last month, and they are also gearing up for their annual Horse Show on June 20th coming up this year. The Radon Lounge’s latest announced show is one happening there on Saturday, February 28th. It will feature the psychadelic/experimental band Otis The Destroyer from Austin, Texas. For those of you unfamiliar, you can stream some of Otis The Destroyer’s music below. Speaking of The Horse Show, The Radon Lounge have the duo Von Stranz from Indianapolis making a return after playing The Horse Show this past summer. Before them is a local band called The Locals (haha). Opening things up will be a set by the acoustic solo artist Rella– featuring Clare Frachey of SAP.

February 21st at Black Sheep: The Timmys, The Haddonfields, Estates, The Rackatees, Diaper Rash

Looks like we have a show announcement today for a show that is coming up right around the corner on Saturday, February 21st, which is actually in less than two weeks! This show is going to have something for everybody. For this show we have the long running Springfield punk rock band, The Timmys. The Timmys released their Dude, Girl EP last year. Also on this show is the return of the St. Louis punk band, The Haddonfields. You can check out some music for The Haddonfields streaming below. The last time The Haddonfields played at Black Sheep was on November of 2013. They also played with The Rackatees that night (from Kansas City), and The Rackatees are also playing the show here on February 21st. On top of all of that we have Milwaukee’s Estates, who last played here this past summer when they released a split 7″ with Springfield band Our Lady. To top the show off, we will get yet another performance by the mysterious Springfield baby band, Diaper Rash.

April 13th at Black Sheep: All People, Asthma, Night/Hex, Bad Banshee

Here’s a cool show that’s happening at Black Sheep on Monday, April 13th! It features a glob a punk with a little touch of ska, ambience, and hardcore. For this show we have the band All People coming from New Orleans, Louisiana. All People play a sort of experimental punk/reggae fusion type stuff. You can check out some of their music streaming below. Also on this show is the Springfield hardcore band Asthma. We also have Night/Hex– the ambient/shoegaze project featuring members of War Magic that started off as a recording project but have recently begun playing shows. Looks like opening things up we have everyone’s favorite local ska/punk kids, Bad Banshee.

April 11th at Black Sheep: Sirens, Uncertainties, Xenosapien, Portals, Noesis, Between Fate And Fearless

10929073_10153522156604908_7759686043512347089_nLooks like we are all the way to April show announcements now, and it also looks like that on Saturday, April 11th we have a stacked bill for a metal show at Black Sheep featuring six whole bands! That’s right, on this day we have the progressive metal band Sirens coming from Terra Haute, Indiana. Check out their music on the player embedded below. This show will also feature a stacked bill of bands from around the area, including the melodic hardcore band Uncertainties from Champaign/Urbana. We also have the very first show of a brand new metal band called Xenosapien, featuring members from both Springfield and Bloomington/Normal. Make sure to come and catch what they are all about. Before that is another Central Illinois band called Portals, playing some of the best Deathcore around. We also have the return of Central Illinois band Noesis, who recently played at Black Sheep earlier this year. Topping that all off at band number six is the Canton, Illinois metal band called Between Fate and Fearless.

March 13th at Black Sheep: The Historians, Pillow Fight, Arcade At Midnight, Bad Banshee, Fel Fae

It’s time to mix things up again here at Black Sheep headquarters. Here on Friday, March 13th we have a great mixed-genre show that is going to mix things up real good for us all. Headlining this show is a dance/electro-pop act from Texas called The Historians (pictured above). You can check out what that group sounds like by listening to the music on the player at the bottom of this post (it’s dance-y). Also on the show is a Galesburg two-piece pop punk project called Pillow Fight. Pillow Fight features members of plenty of bands that have played at Southtown before including Genovia Forever, Occultonomy, and Rat Storm. Then we have a powerpop band coming from Peoria called Arcade At Midnight. We also have your favorite local ska-punk band, Bad Banshee. We have been told that opening this show up will be a brand new Springfield project called Fel Fae which we know nothing about. Make sure to come early to see what that is all about!

Cruelster (Ohio) Added To February 23rd at Black Sheep

Today we have some updates on a show happening on Monday, February 23rd that we announced earlier last month. First off, you can check out that beautiful flier (pictured above) that was not there the first time we announced the show. Second, the band Cruelster from Cleveland, Ohio has been added to the show’s lineup, making for four great hardcore and punk bands for a super slammin’ good time. For those of you unfamiliar with Cruelster, they were one of the bands who played day one of Dumb Fest 2 last summer. You can check out some of their music streaming below. The other three bands still playing this show are Safety Word, Asthma, and Sgt. Karate.

February 27th at Black Sheep: Mystery Gift, Say Something, WARRS, Milchjunge, Southern Roots

Here at Black Sheep on Friday, February 27th we have show coming up featuring a great all-local band lineup featuring a few bands that we haven’t seen in a little while and also a couple of new ones. Headlining this big gig is the gangly-punk band Mystery Gift, which is a band that we have not yet seen this year at Black Sheep. You can stream some of Mystery Gift’s music on the player below. Another band that we have not seen for a minute and that is also playing this show is the band Say Something. Say Something features members of the old Springfield ska band Don’t Mess With Winkie. Then a newer band on this show is the band called WARRS, playing their second show ever this night. Before that is the German punk band Milchjunge, who we have also not seen perform yet this year. And opening things up we have a first ever performance by a new Springfield rock band going by the name of Southern Roots. Come early to catch them and find out what they are all about.

March 25th at Black Sheep: SCREAMING FEMALES, Shellshag, Looming, Kowabunga! Kid

Spring is right around the corner, and there is plenty to be excited about especially this huge show happening on Wednesday, March 25th right here at Black Sheep. This will surely be one of our biggest shows of the spring if not the entire year… if not the entire decade? We have the band Screaming Females from New Brunswick, New Jersey on tour in support of their new album Rose Mountain.  For those of you unfamiliar with the band Screaming Females are the real deal three-piece unstoppable power rock group on Don Giovanni Records. You can check out some of their music on the player below. The band will be on tour with another Don Giovanni Records band, Shellshag from Brooklyn, New York. Those two bands will be supported by local pop group Looming, and also Champaign/Urbana fuzz punk Kowabunga! Kid.

Tickets for this show are going on sale starting now. You can find a link to those right here, where you can order them on will-call off of our Big Cartel page. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets will also be available for purchase at Dumb Records (1107 South Grand East) and other TBA locations around town. February 23rd at Black Sheep: Asthma, Safety Word, Sgt. Karate

Here’s a great three band punk show for you all happening here at Black Sheep on Monday, February 23rd. This show will be punk with a little hint of Black Metal. For bands, we have the band Safety Word coming from Chicago on their way down to a big festival in Texas. You can find their music streaming on the player below. We also have hit local punk band Asthma. And the third act on this show, opening things up is a performance by the continuing solo black metal band lotto project being called “Sargent Karate (Everyone Is So Pretty),” put together by Chris Yeager formerly of Like… With Jetpacks and The Gunga Dins.
