May 7th Benefit Show at Black Sheep: Garter, Moondead, Shark Week, The Suction Cups

How nice, we have a show coming up at Black Sheep on Saturday, May 7th being set up as a benefit show of sorts. The show is being set up by some friends as a benefit to help Luna with transitional funds, which more info can be found on this GoFundMe page. We have quite the lineup of local bands for this. First off we have Garter, who have not played a show since a couple of months back. Check out their music streaming on the player below. We also have the official Illinois State Capitol band- Shark Week. Before that we have the three-piece experimental punk band Moondead. And just in case you can’t get enough of those Suction Cups after they just played last night, they will also be playing this show, and it looks like Hannah Tolan of The Stuction Cups maybe doing a solo set as well?

May 3rd at Black Sheep: SAP, All People, The Suction Cups

You remember the New Orleans based band All People who played on the ramp of Skank Skates back last year in April? Well they are coming back! And this time they are coming back and actually playing inside of Black Sheep- on Tuesday, May 3rd. You can stream some of All People’s music on the player below. Also on this show is the Springfield three-piece sticky grunge pop band SAP. This is just going to be a three-band show it looks like, and that magical third band is the surf rock project called The Suction Cups, who have new music being released very soon.

April 15th at Black Sheep: The Deep Hollow, Ashley Riley, Erisa Rei

We have a little bit of a last minute April show announcement to squeeze in here for an indie/folk show happening on Friday, April 15th here at Black Sheep. It will be a good one! For this show we have the acoustic/folk project The Deep Hollow, for their first time ever performing at Black Sheep! Y0u should be able to stream some of their music there streaming on the Reverb Nation player right at the bottom of this post. We also have solo musician Ashley Riley on the bill, playing some dreamy alternative folk music. And the third act on the bill is another solo musician Erisa Rei based out of Lincoln, Illinois. Come ready for some good times and good tunes.

April 11th at Black Sheep: Jake Down, Sweet Bippy, Flamingo, Sammy & The Punk

We are almost to April, and the show announcements won’t stop rolling in! This show is happening on Monday, April 11th. It will feature the touring solo musician, Jake Down from Grand Rapids Michigan. You can find some of Jake’s songs streaming on the player below. Aside from that we have a lineup of a few local bands. We have the band Sweet Bippy who have not yet performed at Black Sheep, which features members of TANG. We also have the psychedelic rock band Flamingo coming from Jacksonville, Illinois to play for us on this Monday night. Last but not least we have the three-piece rock band Sammy & The Punk possibly opening things up for the night.

April 8th at Black Sheep: The Suction Cups, Fairhaven, The Origin Story

Here’s another April show announcement for you all- this one happening on Friday, April 8th. This one’s a bit of a ska show for all of you who thought ska was dead and gone for good at The Black Sheep. For this show we have the local surf rock band with one ska song- The Suction Cups. Then we have the full-out ska band from Davenport, Iowa called Fairhaven. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. Then the third band on the lineup is The Origin Story– the six-piece real deal ska project based out of Lincoln, Illinois who have played here at Black Sheep in the past. Don’t miss out on those bands!

April 22nd at Black Sheep: Sammy & The Punk, Dear Darla, Ragna Rye, Fill In The Blank, Noesis, Terribly Happy

Here’s another April show announcement! We gotta keep up with these every single day because dang there are so many shows happening in April. This one is happening on Friday, April 24th at Black Sheep. The out of town on the bill for this one is the band Dear Darla from Indianapolis, IN. They play pop punk and you can stream their music on the player below. Other than we have a pretty hefty bill of local bands lined up. This includes the three-piece rock n’ punk outfit, called Sammy & The Punk. We also have the rockabilly folk band playing a rare Black Sheep show- Ragna Rye. One other out of town band but from nearby is the band Terribly Happy from Peoria, IL. We will be terribly happy to have them. Before that to get a good genre-mix in is the metalcore band Noesis from Carlinville, Illinois. And then last but not least is the local pop punk band Fill In The Blank.

August 8th at Black Sheep: Echo of Silence, Noesis, Accents, Set Fire To Salem

Today we have a show announcement for a show happening on Monday, August 8th at Black Sheep which sure sounds like a wayyyys away. This one’s going to be a metal show with a couple of touring acts. This includes Echo of Silence from Detroit, Michigan (pictured above). You can check out their music streaming on the player below. Echo of Silence will also be touring with Central-Illinois band Noesis, who are no strangers to Black Sheep. Also on the show is the band Accents from Staunton, Illinois. And opening things up for now we have the local metalcore project Set Fire To Salem. There might be another band TBA added later on to the lineup.

April 24th at Black Sheep: Sea Cycles, The Stems, The Locals, Shark Week

Today we have yet another April show announcement, this one is happening on Sunday, April 24th. This show is going to be pretty indie-rock. We have the band Sea Cycles (pictured above) from Jacksonville, Florida to play psychedelic experimental indie rock for us. You can check out some of their music on the player streaming below. Also on the bill is The Stems– the second or third Black Sheep show for a new band coming out of Taylorville, Illinois. Up before that we have the poppier band The Locals coming straight out of Springfield High School. First up is another new band and that is the girl-power groove band Shark Week.

April 23rd at Black Sheep: Staghorn, Caterpillar Club, Drained, Orator

Remember the band Caterpillar Club? Well we barely do! Looks like the band which features former Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford along with members of Our Lady will be playing again at Black Sheep on Saturday, April 23rd after over a year since they played their last show here. And even better news is that for this show it looks like they will have a new cassette of unreleased material! This show will also feature a touring band and that is Staghorn from St. Louis. Stream some of their music on the player below. In addition to those bands, we also have a couple more from nearby. We have the emo / melodic hardcore band Drained from Central Illinois. And opening things up we have the incredibly heavy band Orator from Champaign/Urbana.

April 12th at Black Sheep: Free Kittens & Bread, Nectar, Fill In The Blank, Starlorde

Yes, the April show announcements are still rolling in hard! This one is happening on Tuesday, April 12th at Black Sheep. This show will feature the band Free Kittens & Bread from Austin, Texas (pictured above). You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. Also on this show we have everyone’s favorite Champaign/Urbana alternative ice cream pop band Nectar! Then we have a couple acts local to Springfield. The first of which is pop punk goodness Fill In The Blank! And then opening things up we have the second ever show for Springfield’s newest space-themed hardcore super villain band called “Starlorde.”
