New Dumb Fest Music: Tenement, Nectar, Dowsing, Slugbugs

With summer tours approaching, more and more bands playing Dumb Fest 3-D are coming out with more new releases. Last week we highlighted new music from bands Run Forever, Bugg, and Benny The Jet Rodriguez. Tonight we have another round of bands playing Dumb Fest who have recently released new songs or albums. The first of those is Dowsing (pictured above) who have a new single “Blades, Blades, Blades, And Even More Blades” coming out on a four way split to be released on Count Your Lucky Stars Records. Dumb Fest 3-D day two band Tenement from Appleton Wisconsin recently just released a new double-LP called Predatory Headlights on Don Giovani Records. The album was completed over a course of three years and just released at the beginning of this month. Tenement will be touring the US and Canada with Big Zit directly after Dumb Fest. Champaign/Urbana-based day two dumb fest bands Nectar and Single Player will be releasing a split 7″ that will be available for the first time at Dumb Fest 3-D. The 7″s is being released through Rat King Records, and one of the songs from the Nectar side of the split can be found right here.

Columbus-based punk band Slugbugs who will be playing day 2 of Dumb Fest also put up a new cassette release online earlier this week. The cassette is called Electronic Backtalk and you can find that streaming below.

New Music From Dumb Fest Bands: Run Forever, Bugg, Benny The Jet Rodriguez

Dumb Fest 3-D is coming up quick (11 days away to be exact) and plenty of the bands playing Dumb Fest this year have new music being released this summer. Today we have a post to highlight some of those bands who have recently have had new music come out.

The first of those is Run Forever from Braddock, Pennsylvania. The band just released a single for a three-song 7″ called Big Vacation (pictured above) coming out on July 10th. You can head over to Brooklyn Vegan right here to stream that song and read more about Run Forever’s upcoming release. Run Forever will be playing day one of Dumb Fest 3-D.

Another Dumb Fest 3-D band, Bugg, from Bloomington Indiana have recently released a demo cassette and you can stream that on the youtube player embedded below. The band will have the cassettes available when they play day two of Dumb Fest 3-D

The third Dumb Fest 3-D band that recently put out some new tunes is Benny The Jet Rodriguez from Long Beach, California. They recently released a split 7″ with the English pop band Martha. You can stream a song from Benny The Jet Rodriguez’s side of the split below. They will be playing day two of Dumb Fest 3-D.

Paqui: “Southtown Demo 2015”

a1945654480_10We are a little late to the game on posting this, but it looks like the acoustic solo artist who has been playing shows for a while at Black Sheep now- Paqui– finally has some recorded music up for us to hear! Paqui recorded a four-track demo at South Town Studio earlier this spring. The demo is called Southtown Demo 2015, and you can check out the artwork above or stream the music on the player below. You can also head over to Paqui’s bandcamp page to stream and purchase the download for the demo. Paqui does not currently have any shows lined up at Black Sheep, but keep your eyes and ears out for some in the near future!

WARRS: “WARRS”

It looks like today we are able to bring you the seven-track demo from one of Springfield’s newest hardcore/screamo bands WARRS. WARRS features former Black Sheep owner/operator Kevin Bradford and former members of Loses The Mighty and Soap Scum. You can stream the demo below, or head over to the band’s bandcamp page to download it at your own price. The demo will also be released on cassette by Ooey Gooey Tapes later this year.

WARRS will be playing in Springfield next for the second day of Dumb Fest 3D, on Saturday June 13th. You can find tickets to Dumb Fest 3D at Dumb Records or online right here.

Epsom: “Damn And Blast,” Pre-Orders for “Ah, Youth”

Springfield “acid reflux rock” band Epsom have released a brand new song along with a pre-order to their upcoming self-released LP. The song is called “Damn And Blast” and you can stream it on the player below. This is a song from Epsom’s upcoming LP called Ah Youth, which is being self-released by the band and will be limited to 100 copies on vinyl. Find the pre-order for the album right here. Epsom will be playing at Black Sheep next doing a Modern Lovers cover set as a part of the Black Sheep Cover Show Part Four, happening on Saturday, May 23rd. Find a facebook event and more info on that show right here.

Rella: “Dixxon” and “3 Birds”

dixxon2Springfield solo act Rella, composed of SAP‘s Clare Frachey, has recently released two new albums via bandcamp. These albums include Dixxon and 3 Birds, the latter of which can be streamed on the player below. Head over to the bandcamp page to download these songs at your own cost, or also stream them below!

Rella’s next show will be at this year’s Pridefest in downtown Springfield, taking place on May 16th. Many familiar local acts will be featured as well, so stay tuned for more news on Pridefest (find a facebook event for Pridefest right here) and enjoy these new tunes from Rella!

The Complaint Line: “DoubleAside”

Today we bring you a stream of a new batch of songs from Springfield alternative rock group The Complaint Line. These are two songs being called “doubleAside,” which are to give us all a taste of what the band’s full length will sound like, which is currently being worked on. From The Complaint Line’s website:

The Complaint Line have been working hard in the studio on a full length album with new drummer James Welch. The follow up full length to 2014’s “3P” is titled “Stick Ninja” and will include many familiar tracks you should already know (if you have been smart and fortunate enough to catch the band live.)

Diaper Rash: “Demo 4: Eat, Shit, And Cry”

Today we bring you a special stream of yet another brand new Diaper Rash demo. This is “Demo 4: Eat, Shit, And Cry” and you can find it streaming below. All of us at Black Sheep headquarters are still scratching our heads as to who could possibly be in this band or behind this mysterious project. Diaper Rash released demos one, two, and three last year and the group of demos even made it on to our Best Releases of 2014 list.

Diaper Rash will be playing at Black Sheep tomorrow at the show along with The Timmys, The Haddonfields, Estates, and The Rackatees. That show starts at 7:00 pm and is $5.

Kickstart: “Subdue”

Today we bring you a stream of a brand new Springfield release and that is of the seven-track album Subdue by the pop punk/rap-rock band Kickstart. You can find the album streaming on the player below or you can head over here to Kickstart’s bandcamp page where you can download the album at your own price. The band also released a long list of names from their facebook page that they would like to thank along with the release and making of their album.

Kickstart currently do not have any local shows announced. Keep an eye and hear out for any Kickstart shows in the future!

Big Storm: “Final EP”

This EP along with a good number of other local releases are in the running in our Best of Springfield Music 2014 poll. You can go vote in that from now until December 24th right here, and we will be posting the results before the end of the year.

Big Storm will be playing their final show at The Black Sheep Holiday Show. The band formed back in 2011 and singer Brandon Carnes continues to remain active in Looming, The Timmys, and F///\\\\M.
