Today’s guest is Katie Davison, executive director of Innovate Springfield – the new business incubator located in downtown Springfield. It’s Friday so that means there’s another episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show lined up this afternoon and this week’s episode is our special Valentine’s Day Edition. Today on the show our special guest is Linda Renehan who owns the brand new downtown vintage store Springfield Vintage. Linda is organizing a “Vintage Love Tour” around town tomorrow with all sorts of fun local businesses. She will also be bringing in some older vinyl records for us to play on air straight from her shop! You can also expect plenty of tunes from local bands and bands that will be coming to town.

For this episode we are stepping things up and inviting Dr. Richard Gilman-Opalsky local author and also professor of Political Science over at the University of Illinois in Springfield. Richard is also a friend of ours and has performed at Black Sheep numerous times with the freeform jazz band End Times Trio. Today we will be talking to Richard about his new book – Specters of Revolt and also his involvement with punk. There will also be a book release and discussion at Black Sheep along with performance by local punk band Undone tomorrow night– be sure to check that out!

Today is Friday, and it’s the last Friday of 2016. We have another great episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show lined up for you today. Our featured guest this time around is Craig Williams of The Springfield Area Arts Council. As you may know, tomorrow Black Sheep is teaming up with The Springfield Area Arts Council for their big First Night event on New Years Eve to bring a special “teen stage” to a space on Monroe Street. Today on the radio we will be talking to Craig about First Night and what to expect, as well as other things The Springfield Area Arts Council has been doing and has in the works. And as usual you can expect a wide palette of local music and bands that are coming to town. Next week for the first Friday of the year we will have our special “Best Of 2016” episode lined up!

It’s Friday so today from 4:00 to 6:00 pm as always we have another exciting episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show! This week there are once again multiple guests fit into our two hour time slot to make for a great episode. There are no shows at Black Sheep tonight, but there IS the “Christmas Explosion” going on at The Radon Lounge. To represent that we have The Dandelion Pickers (pictured above) coming in to the studio to talk about what to expect at The Radon tonight, and we might even have them attempt to play a song or two live for us in the studio. Our second guest is local poet Emma Wilson. Emma is one of the creative minds behind season 2 of The Studio Show which is also gearing up for a season finale within this next week. We will get to talk to Emma about that and some other things.

Today is Friday which means that another episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show will be airing. It’s also a rare Friday without any shows going on at Black Sheep! Today on the show we have not one but TWO great guests lined up. The first guest of the show is going to be new communications manager from the Lincoln Library downtown – Elizabeth Buchta. Elizabeth will be talking to us about new music events being put on inside the library as well as SAME FEST celebrating ethnic diversity in Springfield happening there in late January. Our second guest is Johari Osayi who helped us put together our successful “Resilience” event at Black Sheep this past weekend, and who is also involved in putting together poetry and story telling nights recently at William Vans coffee shop.

With this being some sort of holiday weekend and the Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade happening tomorrow, we are hosting one special episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show today. Today’s guest is Reier Deloney who is one of the heads of The Springfield Jaycees responsible for putting on the downtown Christmas parade. If everything goes as planned Dumb Records will be taking our giant green elephant in the parade. Here us talk about what is in store for the big city tomorrow night (the parade is from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm), Santa Claus, and more. In addition to that you’ll hear plenty of your favorite tunes from local bands and bands that will be coming to town.
