Get ready for a ton of show announcements to start rolling in on our site! Who would have thought that “217” Day (2-17) aka February 17th is coming up so soon and we almost didn’t have anything planned at Black Sheep!  Thanks to the Kick-It Coalition and 217 Hip Hop now we do! We give you a mix of hip hop and other genres for a full night of some of what the 217 area code has to offer! The event will be going on most of the night from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Today at Dumb Records + HISO + Black Sheep: “Midwest Industry Insiders Conference”

We have an event mixing things up happening throughout the day today at Dumb Records, HISO Music Studio, and also Black Sheep. This is being called the “Midwest Industry Insiders Conference” being put together by 217hiphop and the Kick-It-Coalition. We are excited to be working with all of those different groups on this event, geared more towards those interested in an inside look at the entertainment industry from a hip hop and R&B standpoint. The conference is going to be an all day thing with different events taking place at the different locations. Let’s take a look at what’s planned:

2:00 – 4:00 pm inside Dumb Records:
A panel discussion with some of the Midwest’s foremost authorities on entertainment business with topics such as, the pros and cons of major label record deals, how to fund a national tour, and how to properly own and distribute your music.

4:00 – 6:00 pm inside HISO Studios:
A listening and writing session with Gold Selling songwriters and recording artists, Da Twin Towerz who are responsible for co-writing Drake and Rihanna‘s hit single “Too Good”, plus have written for or collaborated with such artists as R. Kelly, Katy Perry, and French Montana, The session will include live feedback on local artist music as well as a chance to write and produce a new music.

7:00 – 10:00 pm at Black Sheep:
An artist showcase where fans and artists will catch a live performance from Da Twin Towerz plus performances from Trap Republic Records artists. Those artists who sign-up will perform a 6 minute set in front of our special guest judges or a chance to walk away with promotinal packages and an up to $500 cash prize! (Showcase slots are limited)

Tonight at Black Sheep: The New Class 4 Hip Hop Show

We have a good mix of shows going on at Black Sheep this weekend, starting with the rockin’ “Farewell Summer” show last night. Tonight we have our first hip hop show that we’ve had in a minute. This one is “The New Class 4” and the 4th new class show being set up by The Kick-It Coalition and straightdrophiphop.com. There will be a number of performers lined up for that night, focusing on young and new artists of the Springfield hip hop scene. The event will feature DJJuiceOritz and Nerve DJs Mixtapes providing music in between and before acts. If you are interested in performing sounds like you will be able to sign up at Black Sheep the day of the show up until start time at 7:30 pm.

Well now might be the time to check one out! This one is the second round of “TheNewClass” being put on by Uncanny and 217 Hip Hop. It will mostly feature new up and coming hip hop artists from the area who are under the age of 21. Usually shows put on by 217 Hip Hop also end in rap battles, which are intense and an experience for all.

Tonight at Black Sheep would you believe it, this is actually going to be our last show of the entire 2015. What a year it has been, folks. Our last show of the year happening tonight is a hip hop show featuring a lot of new and upcoming artists. This show is being called “The New Class” all-ages hip-hop show, being put on by Straight Drop Media and 217hiphop.com.
