It’s a new week at Southtown record store Dumb Records (located at 1107 South Grand Ave. East) and things are more exciting than ever now that we have a new sign up in front of our store! We have plenty of new arrivals in this week including new and used LPs, 7″s, CDs, cassettes, and a good stack of zines/books. Don’t forget that Dumb Records carries a good amount of zines for you to stock up while the weather is getting colder and you need some good reading material. Black Friday Record Store Day is also coming up at Dumb Records in just a little over two weeks, you can find more info on that event right here. November 27th at Dumb Records: Black Friday Record Store Day + Show at Black Sheep

Today is the only night this week where we don’t have a show going on at Black Sheep! Wow! We do have an announcement for a big event happening at Dumb Records later this month on Friday, November 27th. For those of you who are fans of Record Store Day – the annual event in April – the same organization is doing a similar thing for Black Friday and this is Dumb’s first year participating in that. That’s a lot! In addition to all of those exclusive releases, there will be a 15% off sale for all non-Black Friday RSD items in the store. The store is also opening early that day – at 8:00 a.m., so make sure you get there early!

To go along with Black Friday at Dumb Records there will also be an all-local show happening at Black Sheep. That one is going to feature The Incorporated from Springfield and Litchfield, making their return since the big Hobgob blow-out last month. We also have the pop-punk band that recently put out their first album, Fill In The Blank. Other than that we have a newer industrial project going by the name “A.S.” and another solo/ambient-noise project called “Pretend I’m Not There.” The Black Sheep show will start at 7:00 pm and will cost $5.

Cassette Store Day Today at Dumb Records, Show Tonight at Black Sheep

There are a lot of different events happening today all around Southtown! Today is a big day at Dumb Records for those of you who are fans of cassette tapes, because today is annual International Cassette Store Day! For this day there will be a number of exclusive releases available at Dumb Records, much like Record Store Day. Check out the full list of exclusive releases that will be available on the Cassette Store Day facebook event. In addition to all of the exclusive releases, there will also be sales going on for the whole store which includes 15% off everything new and used in the store, and 30% off all new and used non-CSD exclusive cassettes. Dumb Records will be open today from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, so be sure to stop by and take advantage of the sales!

Then later tonight there will be a show happening at Black Sheep, being called “Pumpkin Slack”! There will be bands playing as well as some sort of pumpkin painting contest! For this show we have the heavy experimental band, The Black Ops Agency. Before that is a newer Springfield project featuring members of The Black Ops and I’m Dead Inside called The Avant National Guard. Before them is the experimental-jam band Flamingo from Jacksonville, IL which you can find streaming on the player below. Kicking things off will be the rock n’ roll group, Blind Social.

The past week has been a hectic one over at Dumb Records (1107 South Grand Ave. East), because all of the remaining product from Error Records in Urbana has somehow made its way into our store. As some of you know, Error Records (the record store) has decided to call it a day, and a new store will continue in the same space called See You CD & Vinyl. We wish all of our friends the best of luck with all of their endeavors! Because of this madness, there are hundreds and hundreds of new items inside Dumb Records that were not there before! Cassette Store Day 2015: October 17th at Dumb Records

We all know that Record Store Day happens once a year in April and is one of the biggest days of the year for many record stores around the globe. But what about Cassette Store Day? Cassette Store Day is a different event meant to highlight stores that sell music in the form of cassettes, and that is happening this year on Saturday, October 17th. This will be Dumb Records’s second year as a participating store. Much like Record Store Day, for Cassette Store Day, Dumb Records will have a number of exclusively released cassettes just for this special day. It’s another new and exciting week at Southtown record store Dumb Records (located at 1107 South Grand East). This week we have a bunch of new arrivals but we also have a bunch of new shirts! That’s right, the 2015 fall fashion line for Dumb Records has finally hit the shelves, and we have printed our logo on some of the dumbest shirts you can imagine. You can find a bunch of different Dumb Records shirts in our store for pretty cheap now. Let’s take a look at when Dumb Records will be open this week and then get into the new arrivals:
